    I was hoping to hear how this system compared to other similarly priced systems. The focus seemed to be on comparison of configurations and general issues to all residential mesh/wifi routers. I would have enjoyed hearing more technical comparisons to competitive systems

    Thank you for the video. It was the best speed test that I found available regarding X20 TP-Link - and I've searched a lot in a very different sites, videos and forums. Just one comment to improve you graphs, it's maybe use a single block for pixel 5 (Download in Blue and Upload in Orange), and 1 block for iPhone 12 (with the same color code). Very good overall content, thank you!

    Hi, 1st of all thx for the videos, I really find them useful. Got a question tho. What would you choose for a simple 2 floor brick house and a wired backhaul? Deco X20 or AX Mini? And why? The prices are more or less the same and I cant deside myself... Many thx in advance and all the best in the New Year :) Cheers from Poland :)

    • @landpet

      Thanks!
      I forget the range on the X20 vs the XD4 but they both should have adequate range. There is essentially no difference between the two in terms of performance with wired backhaul. If you want more options, go with ASUS. If you want additional ethernet ports go with the X20. Both great, can't go wrong either way.
      Wired backhaul allows almost any mesh system to perform extremely well. The bigger differences are for wireless backhaul, that's when mesh systems differ much more. Also if you have internet speeds greater than gigabit, then that also plays a factor

    Do you know if it is possible to connect each deco to the main router in the house? Or would that mess with the mesh functionality?
    I'm looking at an installation in a quite large house where they have ethernet wires drawn through the walls to different areas from a central router.
    In this case it would be ideal to connect each AX20 unit to the main router, rather than Option 3 or 4 that you mentioned. Essentially Option 1 three times. Would that work?

    • @landpet
      @landpet  2 года назад +2

      If by main router, you mean one of the Deco X20 is the main router, then yes they all can connect to it. You can connect like the following:
      modem > deco x20 > unmanaged switch > all the other Deco X20's

      I see. I was thinking of having a TP-link Archer AX53 AX3000 as the main router, and then connecting each Deco AX20 to that routers ports by ethernet cable. 🤔 But perhaps the mesh functionality won't work then?
      Perhaps each AX20 would become a separate WAP without being meshed?

The problem is my internet is extremely slow outside of my bedroom. Can I connect one of the Deco X20 routers to the TP-Link TL-WR841N Wireless Router itself? Or do I need to connect the Deco X20 to the CAT6 cable directly? The cable that is connected to the TP-Link TL-WR841N Wireless Router is so short and won't reach the Deco X20 unless I wall mount it next to the cable or I extend the cable itself. Can I connect it to the second one (similar to the way the second one is connected to the first one) Or should i put a gigabit switch on the first one and connect the second and third to the switch (this will increase my cost as I will have to purchase a switch).

    0:31 the speed rating is really good you can't say "it's not a bad speed" it's not like you have the internet in the states at 1800mbps download speeds no place on earth has those speeds.

    • @landpet
      @landpet  2 года назад

      I don't really explain what that means in most of my videos. Just a heads up, AX1800 doesn't mean it can handle internet speeds of 1800Mbps. It's the summation of all the theoretical max band speeds it supports. In this case its a dual band so it's the summation of the theoretical best speeds of the 2.4GHz and 5GHz. When a wifi device connects, it connects to only one of the bands. Since those numbers are a theoretical best, the speed test numbers result in lower speeds. The ethernet ports also play a role in this. In addition, if you're using a wireless backhaul setup, that now becomes even more important since the secondary X20 is using that for communication, so the faster the number, the better speeds you will typically see on the secondary X20. In todays numbers, AX1800 is one of the lowest speeds I see. Comparing that to the recent eero pro 6E which supports AXE5400 or the ASUS ET12 which supports AXE11000 hence I said not a bad speed rating. Even something around its price range is the new eero 6+ which has a speed rating of AX3000. Hope this helps!

      If you're doing wired backhaul, there shouldn't be much of a drop if it's over ethernet, maybe a few percent at the most. I don't know how fast your internet speeds are but if you normally get 800Mbps and now you're getting 790Mbps, then that's normal. But if your upload is 20Mbps and you're getting 10Mbps, that's not normal assuming you're using ethernet backhaul. If you're running it with wireless backhaul, then expect to lose quite a bit of speeds on the secondary ones.

      Wireless backhaul is not fast on this, you need a triband. The best budget of that is the XE75. There are better options but the price climbs like the XT9 then Deco XE200 and so on
