Swara Salih I agree! The problem was that (at the time) apparently they weren't suppose to make a Season 8 because they only had a contract for 7 years and were only gunna make 7 Seasons but decided to make one more! So they tried to get the original song for Season 8 The Final Season but unfortunately couldn't! Which did piss a lot of people off and I can understand! Also the other thing that made me mad 😡 was they put Billie before Leo in the Opening Credits as well!!! I mean Leo wasn't really huge in Season 8 like he was in all the other Seasons but still he has been in all of the Seasons and is important character Vs Billie.
@@Jose10614 That's not exactly what happened as they still had the original song in the airing of the 8th season. What happened was that the license expired before they were able to release the 8th season on DVD. But the reruns on TV still have How Soon is Now. However, they have renewed it now and have included it on the release of the HD remastered first season on Blu-ray. Hopefully they'll release the rest of the show.
When it aired on WB it had the original song (How Soon is Now). But by the time the DVD version was released the contract for using the original song had expired. So they redid it with the other version.
You buy the rights for a song for a certain amount of time, and given that Season 7 was supposed to be the last one, and that Season 8 was kind of a present for fans (plus the fact that they didn't have enough "money"), they didn't buy again the rights
I never realized that season 8 plays a different song guess I wasn't paying attention I just got charmed as a Christmas present of 2021 I only watched the complete series only 2 times to me the theme song always sounded the same next time when I do a re-watch of the show I'll pay attention but anyways I'm a big fan of charmed 🔮

@sweetjany90 ; the WB owned the rights to the song for a period of time. Remember that Charmed was supposed to end on its 7th season, but they did an 8th one to please us fans. The song rights could still be used for the length of the last season, but when they started doing the DVD, it had expired, so they had to made the new theme :P
I'm sorry but season 8 should've NEVER happened! Love Kaley Cuoco but absolutely detested her character and her damn psycho sister lol HATED that Brian Krause was written out for most of the season, it's not Charmed without Leo, come on! Then Darryl was gone and that sucked. The writing and stories were jump the shark and frankly season 7 ended perfectly and was a much better series finale then what we ended up getting. I appreciate everybody for trying though, but you can tell this was a thrown together season that was brought back last minute.
Yeah, you guys are right. Kaley Cuoco was an interesting and cool addition to the show, and season 8 was indeed amazing. Though it was the reason Cuoco doesn’t do dramas and much prefers sitcoms. It had to do with Charmed’s demanding shooting schedule and the fact that since they edited her power in post production, she frequently had to ask what was happening.
Well that's what happens overtime with popular shows such as Charmed. It was unfortunate because you could see the difference from the other 7 seasons and the loss of characters like Darryl Morris and Leo. The only reason that Brian Krause appeared at all in the final season was that he was so loved by the cast and crew that they agreed to take a pay cut in order to have him in the first 10 episodes and he was not obligated to return for the last two episodes but he did it anyway because of how much he loved the show and he wanted his character to have the closure he deserved.
Listen, comrades. Mark McGrath was given a role on Charmed, but he had to go, and he was replaced by Jason Lewis. So, where in the name of Odin is Mark McGrath?
well i try to figure out! which episode is the second clip of rose!!! thats harder (for me)!!! anyways its pretty hard for me to finding out these scenes!!! the first one of holly for example and the second of alyssa!!!^^ it was pretty easy to recognise the scenes from first to third season!!! but it got harder and harder since the fourth season!!! well, for me at least!
Saying "the worst season of charmed" is like saying "the worst time I've been stabbed in the chest." It's never good, just increasing degrees of awful.
Yes it did in the original run on the WB and in network reruns on TNT and POP . The other instrumental version is only heard on the DVD set and streaming services like Netflix.
Different groups of people. The networks pay royalities whichbis why the original theme is used. Those in charge of DVD production and streaming services like Netflix were unable to aquire the rights by the time the final season went into production.
I've made a habit of playing this clip every time I rewatch season 8 of charmed during the opening credits.
Yessssss to hear the original theme song 😂I 'm currently doing it
Good idea

Oh God I just listened to that new opening and it is TERRIBLE. I mean jeezus the song was one of the most iconic things about the show! :(

Does it say if they were ever able to get the license again (for later DVD releases)?

@@cje24576 Yes it has been renewed now for the HD remaster. But they've only released the first season as of now.
Season eight was the victim of budget cuts and losing the theme song for the DVD’s which was unfortunate. Too bad Daryl was cut from the show as well.
Darryl AND Leo. Basically all the men were gone lol.
Who's Andy?
The worst season

Yes, I feel the same way. I really wish they kept the original theme.
Why bother making a season 8 if you don't have enough money?
I think you can get the original theme song if u buy The Charmed Complete eighth season Dvd set Region 2

On DVD - Season 8 plays a different song.
This Song isnt to DVD in Germany, the another Song is s**it !
It’s because season 7 was supposed to be the last and the licensing didn’t cover season 8’s DVD release, so they replaced it.

Esmeralda2diamon Billie was played badly, and her character was only written in because the network wanted a “younger character”.
