  • I have been having so much fun catching big river perch on the surface recently, and in fact only about half of the fish i have caught made into the video! i have never caught a big perch on the surface up until this point so it was very exciting. It's amazing to get so many perch on top water especially in a big river like this. all it takes is getting up at first light and finding the rocky areas that hold the bait fish, if you want to know how to catch big perch on the surface then watch the video!
    please enjoy the video and like/subscribe if you want more

    They are great to eat these big ones,used to catch them in the murray river west australia,3 to 4 lbs regular,they call em red fin over there and they throw em on the barbie, the meat is so soft.had some 2 /3 lbers on fly st fewston res,the res at the top end over the shallows is full off em.

    • @luresonly
      @luresonly  2 года назад +1

      I hear they are nice to eat, in the UK due to being a highly populated country with few waterways we practice catch and release to ensure good stocks of big fish for others to enjoy!

    • @luresonly
      @luresonly  2 года назад +1

      This lure is a strike king kvd sexy dawg JR, it's an amazing surface lure! As for tackle I like a longer rod for big venue's and a more moderate action than I would use for jigging.

    • @luresonly

    • @luresonly
      @luresonly  2 года назад

      The rod is a custom mate I made it myself, it's 7"6 extra fast action medium light(3-12g). The reel is a daiwa luvius, the braid is dragon fishmaker in 0.08.

    • @luresonly
      @luresonly  2 года назад

      On the surface always mate, even though I can target perch pretty much 100 percent pike and bogs ones are a risk, also if they are willing to come up smashing a surface lure I don't think it will put them off, probably gets lost in the noise of the big ratting lures and all splashing
