@@FinancialWisdom Winner of a video, I have been researching "candlestick reversal signal indicator" for a while now, and I think this has helped. Have you ever come across - Banackenzie Aristocratic Builder - (search on google ) ? It is a good one of a kind product for discovering how to conquer options trading without the normal expense. Ive heard some pretty good things about it and my colleague got amazing results with it.
Did he take volume into account with any of these, to see how often they worked with low volume vs. high?

Good video but even Bulkowski stated that those in the top place don't have enough samples/frequency to justify having faith in actually trading them. Some of them having just 2,000 occurrences out of 4.7 million is going to be tough to practically trade.

Hi Money Penny - Very valid question, I believe so, the candles are a footprint of historical price action and price action principles (on the whole) still remain intact. The full impact of computer algo's is however difficult to determine. IMO

@@MoneywithPennies Absolutely.. But what we cant say for sure is the weighting of algorithmic bots (in terms of monetary volume) in comparison to traditional traders/hedge funds etc but I have no doubt the ratio is slowly switching from traditional (human Psychology) methods.
There is also the possibility that the bots are amplifying the human psychology element with more consistency i.e they will be using objective rationale consistently to trigger trades, possibly volume, a breakout following a confirmed trend change etc which could provide more accuracy. But of course this is all hypothetical in my head lol.

Hi Sudarshan, I dont have a scanning source other than perhaps Chartmill, I do a visual check prior to a position entry but this comes with experience and practice. I would only use candles as part of a strategy as apposed to a strategy in itself.😉

Great video! Can this be used a complete system (e.g. buy/sell on the candle formation and exit after 10 days)? My concern is that the price action is not specified during the 10 days and lacks a stop loss - (to use an extreme example, what if it were 100% down but close in the positive? your thoughts?

Hi - I dont thing any can be used as a stand alone approach, I use numerous aspects including the above within a strategy.
I have a question on the Bull/Bear success. I'm new to this so bear with me. In the example for Evening star it performed better in a bear market (4.34%) does that meean the market is bear then it reverses to bull or is it in bull reversing to a bear market? Many thanks for your videos. I've been working my way through them and I'm finding them really valuable.
A bear market is determined by a 20% decline from a previous high. Moving averages are also used, some look for price to be above a 200 day moving average before calling a bull.
This is a great video and explanation. My only issue with it is, there is timeframe listed for the set up.

Hi Bob, he uses daily for the analysis. One would think the principle would be the same across markets... Personally I use weekly charts but tend to only look at the closing candle in isolation (other than the overall patterns i.e consolidation or breakouts etc they produce)
Does anyone know how we can back-test candlestick patterns ourselves? Any software/program suggestions ? MT4 etc?
Not that i'm aware of, i don't use them on their own, purely for optimum entry points.
@@FinancialWisdom The two best are MetaTrader and AmiBroker. I use AmiBroker. AmiBroker is the established market leader. And more powerful too. The difficult part is programming. And its not cheap. $500 for the Professional edition. The above candlestick patterns can be programmed for back testing. Also the monitoring system can check these patterns in real time too. Does not matter if you are monitoring 2000 stocks. The system will automatically trigger a buy on appearance of the above patterns. Hope this helps. Blessings & Warm Regards.

Thanks. To a point Tim, they are vastly different approaches but both can equally be successful. For example I'm in the middle and use candles with long term fundamentals too
Canine club, these patterns are best used by day traders with individual portfolios. Warren bufffet or a MF or Hedge Fund manager can not use these patterns for reliable investments, as investments are meant to be held over much longer durations, with the expectation of much higher returns from appreciation and dividends. An investor like buffet would want a multi bagger, and not a few % points of change on the charts. Furthermore, buffet would rather buy a company with good fundamentals, and improve it's management, product, services.

I love your explanation but this is very confusing as you can see most of his patterns can easily be reinterpreted as soon as the doji candle forms. This will lead to many losses ultimately letting you dissatisfied and confused on your next trade. Now days is not even about patterns, the best traders use fundamentals in many ways and they use the chart just to see buyers and sellers and where I the best entry in a clean chart comparing risk to reward. For example your review in Jesse, mark minervine are a great example of timeless strategies that will work forever. If you are a trader and only trade patterns I can guarantee you that you will have the adds against you. I do not want to be negative but I traded patterns for many years and I was very methodical and very calm doing it and my results were poor on the positive side. Yes I was profitable but nothing to say i found the holy grail. Once again you have done a fantastic job doing your review!!
Thanks for your thorough feedback Paulo, much appreciated. I don't disagree with you, my main approach is a hybrid of fundamental/price action on the weekly chart and I only generally use the singular (weekly) candle at the point of purchase or sale. In isolation I tend to agree with you that trading candlestick patterns alone is a difficult task to say the least... however i'm sure people including Bulkowski have a method that provides themselves an edge over a large volume of trades ( I guess.. ) speak again soon...

Yes it is rather old...
The problem is that those percentages are based on “the top” and “the bottom” …how do you know this candle is going to be the top and the bottom. This is why chart analysis is nowhere near as effective as bar replay where you make decisions as the bars come instead of looking at a completed chart.

I just looked her up on the internet and found her webpage with her credentials. I wrote her a outlining my financial objectives and planned a call with her.
I would say these sample sizes are incredibly small, almost meaningless.

none of those can be referred as strategy. you are misleading. never use candlestick patterns in isolation or you will lose money.

As much as I like your videos, this one is complete nonsense as it doesn't work in day-to-day stock trading. Candlesticks are a waste of time and give erroneous feedback.
Hi Tommy, to a degree,, i use weekly candles which are more reliable, I however focus on the weekly closing candle which tells a story.
