@@graustreifbrombeerkralle1078 yea i had it happen a week ago which is why i know even if chances are very low to get a direct engine hit it still isnt cool to lose your track inside a fought over objective getting out and repairing is a death sentence so you turn into a pillbox
Hold shift and scroll mouse button to increase or decrease the traversal speed of your tank turret, for more accurate shooting. Always great to see content for this game. Come check out the realism mod, it's been worked on for years and is incredible. Keep up the good work.
I've put in something like thirty hours into tanks in this game, not as much as many but more than you, and so I'd love to give you some advice. First, clock codes: look in the bottom left of your screen and you see what looks like a clock with your tank barrel as the hour mark. When someone says traverse turret to 3, for example, you would turn until the turret is 90° to the right of the front of the tank. Second, your tank doesn't actually shoot directly at the center of your crosshair, it shoots a bit to the right or left depending on your tank. I'm the panther the gun is to the right of the sight, so it shoots to the right. Third, sensitivity. When you lower your sensitivity to half or lower your turret is being moved manually. This doesn't change how it functions at all in the game, but in real life the gunner would be using a slower, more precise set of controls. Keep the gun in manual when you want to be precise. Overall fantastic first time, way better than most people.
Panthers were also known for fuel leaks in the engine, turning the engine from an internal combustion engine to an external combustion engine. Although reliability was an issue for most tanks, it was very noticeable on german ww2 tanks, ww1 tanks, and heavy tanks.
I think you can adjust your sights in the gunner view too, so if you kinda know the distance you can adjust the sight to get it on point to fire instead of guessing which is soo cool
Yeah the panther was definitely the best german tank of the war To my knowledge( correct me if i am wrong)it was not plagued with the same reliability and mobility problems as the tiger 1 and 2
I plan on eventually making a discord so people know when I'm on! Although the milsim community and those for Squad and Squad 44 are pretty tight knit it seems so ya might see me on :D
@@Cool_guy-i1u ahaha actually I’ll put that on my list of games I’ll get to make videos on. War Thunder is a mix of anguish and fun, but don’t worry I lose my mind when I play war thunder and get blown up six games in a row 😭
The Panther, while feared, kind of. Was feared mostly due to a placebo effect due to the big gun and sloped armour and the perceived threat it could pose, "had it worked". It was rarely used it had constant problems with its powerpack there weren't that many of them and the Germans never got the chance to iron out the issues. Yes the armour was good much better than the PZ IV and so was the gun. But it was incredibly unreliable. It was "feared" maybe only at first until the allies realised how unreliable and how few of them there were. The vast majority of the allies would have never seen one during the war. It's a very cool tank don't get me wrong but lets not lie to the viewers 😂
@@damongale45 it wasn’t that serious I swear 😭, tbh I didn’t even know if I should have included the first section, because from my war thunder experience I KNEW someone would disagree with me lol as when it comes to the subject of WWII tanks there seems to be really strong opinions. As for the panther being fearsome, I definitely don’t think I “lied”, whether or not the Panther in hindsight was a good tank. I sure would be terrified if I faced one in the battlefield. But anyways thanks for stopping by and watching the video ❤️
By the end of the war the main problems of the panther actually had been ironed out (besides the final drives), which is why there were many battles with panthers post-dday. The panther was very effective at taking out Sherman’s, but were easily killed from the side even by the 75mm and at angles, which is why they didn’t cause too much problems for the allies. Still a very effective vehicle (after reliability increased)
🤓 actually when you angle the tigers armour (which you should always do even in panther) it has about 140-180mm of armour from 40-60 degrees. This also makes rounds very prone to deflection
i think the main issue with games where players act as crew instead of one player controlling the tank is communication, I would suggest just saying what you want once instead of repeating it multiple times cuz it is simpler and it does not confuse ur mate, makes things more efficient, good energy and gameplay tho
True! Albeit the driver was my twin brother lol, so we get each other's communication skills (which also includes panicking). Thank you for the support and kind words!
I leave the tank open for others usually (like in my latest video), but I remember I locked it in this game because people kept joining and leaving the squad after they couldn't be the driver or gunner
Have some mercy upon me this tank video for Squad 44 was literally the first time I played a tank in the game (I don't have the war thunder aiming system) 😖
I gotta say it. The panther was not THAT good of a tank. The final drive would catastrophically fail after 150km of wear. Traverse was bad and could not be traversed when at a 20 degree slope. and was just generally unreliable. Not to mention a gas guzzler. It's engine also had a life span of 1000km. The Germans essentially made it a "strategic tank". Using railcars for distances as little as 25km. It was thought it could neutral steer but the French found to never actually use this ability as it can immobilize the entire tank. It had a serious problem with engine fires as well. German commanders had stated the fuel lines were "porous" and would leak fumes. It was also designed air tight, which means oil and gas that leaks anywhere at all will stay in the engine bay, and you guessed it engine fires! The French also found a smoke grenade tossed onto the rear deck or vent openings would catch the engine on fire too. The panther wasn't a bad tank. It was fantastic at long range engagements (1400-2000 meters). But up-close suffered from poor maneuverability, overweight, and underpowered. It was feared on the battlefield, and often found abandoned off of it.
Also I have to note that only elite troops out of whole german army armored crews were able to adjust their tactical movement with the infantry irl and in squad 44&hell let loose. Your crews seems elite came thru 4 years of war till in arnhem 1944.
The panther was a classic German big cat. That is to say a horribly unreliable, massively over-engineered, logistically nightmarish, highly overrated piece of junk. The only thing it was good at was killing other tanks; literally every other metric relevant to a tank’s success was a profound failure. It wasn’t maneuverable to put it mildly, the parts might as well have been bespoke, the tank had, in 1945, when you needed every gun in the fight, less than 50 percent uptime. The Sherman wasn’t a better tank because they made more, it was a better tank. Amateurs talk tactics, professionals talk logistics.
You are so excitable ! Work with a German crew and they'll tell you to shut up and just follow orders. Secondly, the tank has 4 positions and you should not leave the spawn with any less than 4. With just one person driving and one on the main gun, who is spotting and marking targets? No-one. Who can get out and repair? Still, it was entertaining.
