holy, ive been to UQ before, but i have never been to that "Global change institute building" it looks so incredible. hopefully this time next year if a vacine for corona is developed, ill be attending UQ
Has anyone from the US studied here and know how hard it is to get back to the US to practice medicine? I really want to go here for medical school but I am worried that it will be frowned upon when I get back to the US.
You’ll probably have to sit the USMLE Step 1. If you are trying to go for an aus med school cos it’s “easy” to get in, that’s a total myth, we are just as competitive if not in some aspects more competitive than the US. In my opinion stick to US med schools if u want to practice in the US
@@ThomasMackay Hello Dr. Mackay, I'm a high school student from Brisbane, who will certainly not be receiving entry into medicine as a high school applicant due to my poor UMAT/UCAT score. I'm now interested in postgraduate entry, the pathway that you did through the BSc, and I wanted to ask, is the GAMSAT really as hard as people say? Do you think someone can get a decent score if they were to study directly from the beginning of undergrad and be able to get a competitive score, preferably for UQ? Sorry if this is a long question, but you have real experience and you've been through this pathway, I'm trying to gather as much information as possible. Thanks
@@abdullah-hi6cf Hi Abdullah! Sorry for the late reply, I only just saw the notification. It's certainly doable! Start getting on to GAMSAT prep during 1st and 2nd year of undergrad biomed and you'll be well on your way to success with GAMSAT. Best wishes for your journey to med school!
@@ThomasMackay Thank you very much for the vote of confidence :) One more thing, do you think that a person aspiring to enter into graduate medicine at UQ should enrol into the BSc - as I've heard from some people that it has a high workload - do you agree? I've been looking at some data on the average GPA required for entry into UQ's postgraduate MD and it is rising every year - average GPA for successful applicants was 6.88 this year. Would you recommend enrolling into something like a Bachelor of Arts instead? Thanks in advance Dr. Mackay :)
