When I was 12 in 1969, my mother, out of the blue, invited me and 2 of my school buddies, to go see the Mothers of invention at the Fillmore East. I had no idea who they were, and had never been to a rock show before. Talk about a WTF moment!
Frank, I never met you, but you are missed. Your book was great! I'd also recommend the biography "Electric Don Quixote" to any fans of his. And of course Arfnotes, for interpretations of the more obscure lyrics he wrote.
As soon as he said "Let me point something out to you," you knew she was gonna get schooled. Love and miss Frank: the most intelligent and greatest interviewee ever.
I don't know why everyone here is so hard on this interviewer. She did a good job in making him smile, in making his relax and easy with her. He liked her, you can tell, so I don't think it helps to criticise.
How the fuck has she ignored his answers? She did a great job making sure Frank didn't feel like he was wasting his time with a stupid journalist both by making good connections and giving him space to talk
I translated this book to Hebrew. This guy has so much intelligence he's like a funny Einstein. It's too bad he had to spend so much of his time with inconsequential, antagonistic morons (like this blond sapiens interviewing him). But His Name Lives On: Frank Zappa, the LA Music Bandit! (and my spiritual bro, may he finally RIP). Udi
Didn't Frank have a PR agent or manager to coach him that on MSM short appearances you have to have entertaining anecdotes to fill up the time? Too many one-word responses to questions creates awkwardness. Personally, I don't care - but that's not how to optimize the appearance.
Bit of a mismatch, Zappa and this show. Bit like Brian May on that daytime coffee morning type programme. (or like having God on for 4 minutes - what would you ask?)
I admire this interviewer for showing no sign of fear of Frank that many journalists did.
And then he called it with the BYE BYE. Just as you would have liked it? I dunno.
@@plasticdadaii8225 What do you mean? I'm a big admirer of Frank Zappa and the way he's so conciliatory to interviewers.

Yes Frank, your fans do read books. At least I can only speak for myself. I'm sorry you didn't know that when you were alive.
One of the most interesting and entertaining books I've read in a while.

Jane Pauley - Fearless on asking ZaPPa those amazing questions. 😁👍🏻
Man!! ZaPPa would have a field day in the 21st Century Social Media of Garbage 😁
As soon as he said "Let me point something out to you," you knew she was gonna get schooled. Love and miss Frank: the most intelligent and greatest interviewee ever.
HE KNOWS more about everything!!!
than any reporter/politician
Can you see how Dangerous he was yet?
@@plasticdadaii8225
BECAUSE he knew MORE? Is that what you mean? I hope so- I wish more people (sheeple) would be dangerous

EXACTLY. Jane did an amazing Interview and ZaPPa enjoyed it 😁👍🏻
Welcome to the Social Media of Rats !😏
@@massapower Indeed. Depressing in a way.
"Here you are, and there you go!" The mainstream media give Frank the guitar-playing bum's rush again...
Haha, I registered to vote at one of those shows...
Ha, awesome, fair play!
Well, you have a new sub here from Quebec !😊
man that is a surreal interview, that lady is just right on franks balls.
beautiful Jane
I am a fan and read books. Love the book.
He would have been
A very good talk radio presenter 🎉
They keep focusing on
His bald patch
What an odd interviewing style - ask questions and ignore the answers.
+stargate669 I disagree. I think she was excellent at making him relaxed. He had a twinkle in his eye throughout. He liked her. That's quite a feat.
How the fuck has she ignored his answers? She did a great job making sure Frank didn't feel like he was wasting his time with a stupid journalist both by making good connections and giving him space to talk
Welcome New World Order News in 1988 or so. Have you sorted it yet?
@Andrew Korvin and It was Frank in his prime and most attractive
@Andrew Korvin But from the way she responded, I got the impression she had no idea he was so compelling.
"you're aging well..." he was dead 4 years later....great insights! Jane Paulie, nothing behind the smile....
Nothing behind the rib cage, either.
Even though Frank didn't have cancer at the time, he still looks terrible for a guy in his late 40's.

he's cool and she was a good interviewer. end of.
Truth?
...relaxed, droll, but not much revealed.
E was very interesting man and e was drugs free respect
This woman is out of her league. She has no idea what to ask or why to ask it.
Jane Pauly was way out of her element trying to be cute with a person of intellect. An element that she clearly doesn't possess.

This is a very misogynistic comment thread
Absolutely. Anyone familiar with Zappa interviews can see that Zappa respects Jane.
