A really late reply, but I totally agree with this comment.
The liberational feeling of the freedom of driving far away to wherever your mind desires, far away from everything including your past and the present that constantly occupy your mind, truly is a special experience only the very few can live to see.
I believe that they simply could not find a better environment for the song's album cover/music video. With the empty road right in the middle of the vast plain lands in the middle of no-where, away from other people and things, the picture/environment perfectly accomplishes the serene, yet secretly lonely, and saddening atmosphere and story the lyrics imply to us.
The peaceful solitude accompanied with the calmer state of mind is what makes this song beautiful and still my most favorite song of Oh Wonder.
