    To the V8 purists, the 4.2 does sound amazing. But, when you replace the V8 with a 2.9 liter twin turbo setup that will eat that V8 for lunch...maybe you all should reserve a little respect for the 2.9. If exhaust note is all that you care about, you sure as heck do not have to spend RS money to get it. My RS5 Sportback is so damn fast and competent. Way more car than I expected, compared to my 2018 S5 Sportback.

    Looks like a great vehicle, plenty powerful enough, for me a modern 6 is my ideal, plenty of power when you put your foot down which I think is a safety requirement, and the sportback style looks really practical, I also love the digital dash that Audi do.

      It does. Nicer than expected. No warbling V8, though...

    Very good review. Next time please let's see the car externally while it's being driven.
    Also, I hope the flat bottom steering wheel never goes away 😎

    If I had the coin It’d be a hard choice between this and the RS4, I wouldn’t bother with the coupe.

      RS4 for me, but I liked the Sportback shape a lot more than I thought I would.

    Hi Tom, I love your reviews, keep up the great work. My question is, I haven’t found a review on the new Audi RS4, are you reviewing this car anytime soon? I would love to watch and hear your thoughts. Kind Regards Ward

    Hey Tom, great review. What's your opinion on the "real world" figures on 0-100 km/h, fuel economy l/100 and purchase price for the RS5 you were driving in this video?

    • @chasingcars
      @chasingcars  5 лет назад +3

      Hey Greg. The real world economy wasn’t so bad for a car of this capability - about 13L/100km compared to the official figure of 8.9L/100km. The car you see here is $172k as tested ($191k on the road) - keep in mind, $11,000 of that is the carbon fibre package which I’d skip out on.

    Audi has not updated this one with their latest design and tech. I like RS4 avant among their RS models and RS3 is also fast and affordable RS. Also Audi did finally unveiled their new Q7 :)

    • @chasingcars

      I reckon the interior in this RS5 is better than the new Audi cabin!

    Never understood the benefit of electric tailgates on modern cars. To me, it only adds weight and stuff that can and will break, but perhaps I am missing something.

    • @chasingcars
      @chasingcars  5 лет назад

      On large vehicles, they certainly help people who aren't tall to close the boot. Maybe you could make that argument on a large, high hatchback like this. What I don't get is electric boots on conventional three-box sedans: nobody needs those.

    Love the RS5 Sportback - nice spec- flat bottomed wheels best reserved for R8 - function over form always :)

      Agreed. Good to see round wheels generally coming back into fashion.

    This whole thing about getting rid of V-8’s because of emissions is a crock. They’ve been using this excuse since 1970. V-6’s wear much quicker than a V-8 ever will because everything’s working twice as hard due to the lower compression ratio. I don’t care how they wrap it, this engine can never hold a candle to a V-8. They passed on much higher maintenance and repair bills to the customer like always.

    • @chasingcars
      @chasingcars  5 лет назад +2

      Quite a few. Compared to the coupe, the Sportback is 6cm longer, 3cm higher, 1.5cm narrower and 60kg heavier.

    V6 ..its time to be employing a straight 6 engine .... I have a bit of confusion ..even though its RWD biased in power delivery and front end heavy ... in which conditions the system powers the front wheels

    • @chasingcars
      @chasingcars  5 лет назад +1

      The front wheels are powered, in part, all the time.

    Here's a piece of advice....although i'm not sure you're going to read this but what the hell... here it goes. Try and make the car reviews in POV (Point of View), honestly no one wants to see your face while driving the car and talk about it (it's not meant as an insult), we can hear you just fine so why not show us what you're seeing while you're driving that car. Some of your viewers will probably never drive an RS5 for example, while others might be looking to buy one... point is you're addressing a wide range of people who honestly are not looking (at least me) to watch a guy's face drive and talk about how it feels to drive that car. i think you would have much more success if you make POV Reviews instead of .... "watch my face while i review this car.... reviews"... otherwise you can just show us a few pictures of the care and then record yourself and talk about it... it would be the same thing... i don't know,... that is just how i wanna watch a car review.... after all you're reviewing a car... not you while talking about the damn thing. All in all the review is quite good and you covered pretty much everything which is awesome so good work... and trust me everyone loves POV Car Reviews.
