The reason his username is Tiffany is because he's canonically(even in the original) playing on his wife's account. So his character was female, and then his character was reverted to his irl appearance in episode 1 like every other players.
I love how Asuna clearly isn't racist out of hate, but instead just complete and total ignorance of how racist she is, with no-one feeling comfortable enough to point out how racist she's being, presumably for fear she might make it worse trying to overcorrect.
Combined with the fact she is a covert sociopath in this version, who feels the need to “put on a face” to blend in with people, she accidentally put on metaphorical blackface
Even deeper than that, in the Abridged she’s a full blown psychopath, and it seems like she just doesn’t know how to mask that fact around Tiff and Lizbeth. She can’t hide it around Lizbeth because she doesn’t want her making moves on Kirito, and she can’t around Tiff because she legitimately doesn’t know how to treat other races like normal people. The facade has also began to fall around Kirito, but it’s because abridged Kirito is a Sociopath who is similar to her on some very fundamental levels and that allows her to open up and connect to someone.
@@lynnxia7668the grand wizard is the title for the leader of the kkk. If you don't know what that is id advise you to search it up, but its basically a group of white supremacists who specifically target black people. Hence kirito calling asuna grand wizard because she said a few racist things towards Tiffany
Is she though? She would be far worse if she were a Grand Wizard. She would be dropping derogatory N bombs with every other sentence while actively claiming herself racially superior to blacks if she were a Grand Wizard. Just someone tries to sound black doesn't mean they're part of the KKK.
5 years? Kirito was voted #1 male character in Newtype with Asuna #2 for female characters as recently as 2020. Those two have been the most consistently popular male and female characters in Japan since 2011. They've only recently been removed from the top 10 rankings altogether. They were the Kira and Lacus of the 2010s.
Spoilers for the first episode of SAO Abridged Season 2 By the end of Season 2 Episode 1, you realize that Kirito is the MOST sane person in his family
The previous episodes have been good, sure, but THIS right here is SAO Abridged's "growing the beard" moment. You're gonna see a massive jump in quality from here on out.
Asuna being an unintentional racist was unexpected but very funny, especially considering she is just pretending to be nice, but she doesn't know how, and you were the best reactor to it by far, very nice one indeed. The abridged just gets better from now on
I absolutely loved your reaction to the whole grand wizard asuna bit and that you just took it With Humor (Some people Just get very offended by that). Youre also one of the few reactors that actually got the "Grand Wizard" line Also Just Wanted to point out that shes Not actually racist, shes the type that tries to Not be racist but in the end Just manages to do the complete opposite
Hey man, loving the reactions so far! Just wanna say tho, plz watch with the subtitles I am begging you There's so much humor hidden there, you gotta see them!
I personally disagree, that there is Humor in the CC is definitely 100% true but when watching it for the first time you also remove a lot of Humor. You read stuff before its said and the delivery on those Lines is Just way to good to Ruin it by knowing what is being said. When watching it for the 2nd time you can enable CC to get More out of it At least thats my opinion on first watch CCs in SAOA
As much as I would agree, for reactions this usually isn't a good idea. Because it splits the attention. The worst one is when someone convinces people to watch Fate Stay Night: UBW Abridged with Canadian subs. Most people have trouble following them and it detracts from reaction.
I'm saying this as my personal experience: When I first watched it I only enabled the CCs past EP 10 or something like that I was laughing so dang hard that I didn't hear so many jokes that I only caught on a second viewing On the eps after I started using them I caught most if not all the jokes, plus a bunch I'd never catch if not for the little helps or tidbits the CC have But for a viewer trying to get the most of a first viewing, I always tell my friends to see with CC and none of them said they felt like they were loosing out so far, plus I usually think that reactors, even more the ones used to live streaming, have no problem following the listening and written side of things without losing out much Obviously it will be a personal choice at the end of the day, and that's where I'll leave my argument
Another fantastic reaction! It's so damn satisfying to see someone not only get the Grand Wizard Asuna joke (which has become actual merch for them, by the way) but recognize Gary in the cold open. I've loved this abridged series for a long time, and watching you experience it has been a blast.
a LOT of people missed the joke of grand wizard Asuna. one of the high positions in the organization know for using a letter 3 times as their abbreviation is called a grand wizard. a lot of American don't know this as the U.S. government goes out of their way to make sure kids don't learn about this trouble organization. I thought my friend was messing with me when he told me the position title, I didn't believe him cause what organization would be taken seriously with a title like that. I recently learned that the title above that is called dragon.
Look man I don't want to have to defend the US public education system but they do teach about the KKK in school. They aren't just legally required to but its mentioned in various tests students have to pass so the school gets funding. On top of that its mentioned the school history books throughout the entirety of American history post Civil War. Furthermore depictions of them are replete in our media and all of them are varying degrees of horrible and atrocious. Just because pent up teenagers don't want to learn about history because its "boring"* and "not gonna matter in our every day life"* doesn't mean it wasn't taught. its just teenagers didn't bother to remember because they were focusing on football, getting laid, and drama.
Asuna is more or less confirmed to be a sociopath, she only puts on a face with everyone she meets to hide it. The problem is that she has never been exposed to black people saved through like movies, so she ends up putting on metaphorical blackface. It’s a racism that is out of ignorance and not hate, so while it is super uncomfortable and needs correcting, it at least *is* correctable.
Asuna was stammering to Kirito’s response because of how inane it was. She was worried that he had assaulted her in her sleep but the worst thing Kirito could imagine doing to an unconscious woman was draw on her face.
Saw a comment on someone else who's reacting to SAO abridged about the same time. Tiffany is actually a reference to the manga. TLDR him and his wife both play on the weekends and I'm free time. He was likely testing the game on his wife's account when everyone was locked in. Again not something I knew myself just something I remember seeing recently. Cool thing the abridge studio brought in and didn't transvestigate him
This is one of my top 2 favorite SAO abridged episodes. It is among the funniest & willingly (maybe even "eagerly") brushes up against being edgy or "offensive" without any hesitation. I miss that.
Another spoiler for those who have only seen the anime, about the whole Kirito x Asuna "mating": There's a part of the Light Novel dedicated to put in details the whole scene between them. Or that might be an actual Doujin, but still graphical, even though it's all text.
Regarding Tiffany. The name is actually a reference to the original where it was said that he won against his wife the right to play first on their shared console, but had to use her account. So "Tiffany" was stuck in the game with the respective account name.
13:30 having had friends like Asuna, if it helps even slightly, its because shes never actually interacted with anyone outside their bubble and is trying to "fit in" without understanding what shes saying.
It's less racism and more, Tiffany is likely her first true interaction with any minority and isnt exactly smart about it. Likely, Her only real other experience with black culture was BET, MTV, and news coverage.
13:00 turning Asuna into this was probably the best thing they ever did. Also what is the music that plays in the background around that time? I feel like I have heard it before

And then I saw a video and a tangent was about how Grandwizard is super bad person and I immediatly was like “OH GOD NO I’VE CALLED FRIENDS THAT AND THEY DON’T KNOW EITHER BECAUSE WE LIVE IN LATINAMERICA AND WE WEREN’T TAUGHT ANY OF THAT 😱” Fun times all around 😅
