Hello my name is Crystal and here is a little bit about me 😀:
I live with multiple chronic illnesses that keep me bed ridden most of the time.
Crocheting and the wonderful world of yarn have become my passions keeping me somewhat sane during the battles of chronic illnesses. I hope you will follow my journey through yarn and the love of crocheting and all the possibilities it brings. Although I post video’s somewhat sporadically due to frequent flares in my illnesses, I will always be back with other videos sooner or later :-)
I really enjoy chatting and getting to know yarny friends in our wonderful community, but please be patient as my response time may be rather tardy depending on how severe my health might be on any given day. Please accept my apologies in advance.
I love making amigurumi the most, however I also really enjoy making things like sweaters, hats, afghans and anything that makes my grandkids smile! "WHATS ON YOUR HOOK?"
I’ve been in a battle for almost 15 years fighting against a host of immunological diseases. If you’re curious what my illnesses are here is my most current list, lol.
1. Myalgic encephalomyelitis/chronic fatigue syndrome (ME/CFS)
2. Postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome (POTS)
3. Small Fiber Neuropathy
4. Rosacea (Ocular too)
5. Multiple Chemical Sensitivity
6. Connective Tissue Disorder
7. Fibromyalgia
8. Chron’s Disease
9. Histamine Intolerance - Mast Cell Activation Disorder
Also last but not least, I love reading the Bible and the study of Gods Word. What’s your favorite Scripture verse?

My granddaughter is coming today and we’re gonna make your little monsters together. I taught her to crochet a couple years ago and she’s so excellent at it already. She took me to Hobby lobby last weekend and we had such a great time I was telling her about you And your channel. Her name is Kaylee and she’s 29 years old and I’m so glad I was able to teach her to crochet while she’s young.! so I have to go now and get prepared for her visit cause we’re gonna have a good time making these little monsters thank you Chris and I hope you’re having a very good day.❤❤

No worries I make typos too. 😬 I love that you taught your granddaughter. I am teaching my daughter in law. She just started last week. I am having a bit of a rough day but that is because I am on antibiotics. It’s giving me a bad headache unfortunately. ☹️

Oh, how I smiled seeing the title of your vid, Crystal!!!! I totally get it! I'm glad I don't like those thicker yarns as I'd go through them too quickly & they cost an arm & a leg here.... & they take up a lot of room to store them. I'm currently going through the yarns I'm not in love with & crocheting them into cat blankets for our local pet shelter. Over the past few months, I've fallen in love with the C2C Silt Stitch which I use a slightly bigger hook for & then it's a great texture. I hope you end up enjoying that Tweed yarn as it looks gorgeous when crocheted into an ami. Though I totally understand how yuk it is when the yarn feels bad.... like the yarn I'm crocheting currently into a cat blanket! I really can't stand it!!! 🥰Blessings from South Australia💕🐨

I'm a huge fan of their yarns, well more a fan of their pricing I think lol I really hope they don't close down. Your in progress reminds me of a unicorn 🦄. Hello Julie. 😀 They do have great sales! My granddaughter saw the picture and thought it was a unicorn too but it’s not, lol. However she told me if I added a horn it could be and she is right. 😂
I don’t get to a Joann store very often because I don’t drive so I have to wait until my granddaughter can take me shopping. The Posh yarn is very pretty, you picked some beautiful colors. I’m looking forward to seeing the project you are working on finished. I’m working on a baby blanket now. 🧶🙏🏻💜
I understand I don’t go to the Joann’s much either because I cannot drive that far. Being bedridden so much I just don’t feel comfortable however I did drive one way to it a few days ago. It is 45 min away. Towards the end my anxiety was getting bad however I made it. 😀 A baby blanket is always fun to make.
Hi Crystal, those yarns are really pretty! I think they will make really nice dragons. I love the Big Twist Posh. At least it doesn't fall apart like the Parfait Chunky. Happy crocheting!!

I'm a big fan of Posh! I have almost every color. If you plan on amigurumi with it, it's always good to have at least one skein of black, for when your critters need a smile or something like a face. Also, you can't have enough of the white. It's so bright and brilliant and it's a cinch to go with every other color. I think I have 6 white now lol. If you shop in store, take advantage of sales and coupons. I try to get up to an amount just over the 75.00 threshold to use that 15.00 coupon. Last time it was 6.99, the time before that was 5.99. I think I'll wait a week or 2, hopefully it goes to 5.99 again. Wouldn't it be great if everyone panic buying would help push sales and pull them outta the hole? I enjoyed your video and your attitude towards everything yarn. Thank you from this insomniac at 3:00AM!

I too battle with insomnia and it isn’t fun. My black is the one that is stuck in the postal service a hour away. ☹️ Hopefully it will move soon.

I was disappointed in the totally tweed yarn too but I came up with a work around as I was planning on sending it thru my Addi for kids hats to donate. So I did the first 50 rows in the tweed, and the next 60 in another acrylic which will be the inside of the hat. The tweed had a funky feel to it.

Yes it’s very hard. I meant to tell you I got the book the other day. I’m working on a commissioned blanket and I will try my hand at making the easier versions. It’s not necessary to send anything but I really appreciate it. 🫶🏽😊
If your yarn is in Georgia good luck getting it. Our mail comes out of Atlanta, and that new facility is aweful. My husband's car title is still not here, and it's been two months.

I think a lot of the yarns from Turkey have something added to their surface and you may be able to wash it off. I got two more skeins of I love this yarn at hobby lobby for a project fully knowing that the color may be off, but it was not the color that was off one of the skeins felt totally different and very coarse and the other came very soft. Good luck with all your projects, we are all very sad at Joann closing. Crafters are out there.
I have never had that happy with an I love this yarn. 😳 Did you exchange it? I know that isn’t always easy to do.

Hi Crystal, l think your amigurumi is cute even though l can't tell what it is going to be yet. I don't like shiny yarn either. I prefer the regular acrylic better. There is something l don't like about the feel of that type of yarn . It feels too much like plastic to me. I just don't enjoy working with it. I bought a blanket with it from goodwill and l didn't notice that it had that type yarn which l am not a fan of. Oh well, it will teach me to pay more attention to the fibers l am buying next time. I like to buy used blankets and reuse the yarn for other things.😊 l am working on a granny square blanket that l started a long time ago and l decided to work on it and finish it.😊 l hope you have a good rest of your day.😊 hugs!

I'm caving as I'm watching not a joann panic but a sale on hat yarn I don't need it but its a business decision ok I'm talking myself into it. No plushie yarn oh I want some it's 50% off but I don't have a yarn room dam woolwarehouse there goes my new couch
The struggle is real! However for a business it is good to get it while it’s a great deal. 😀

What size hook do you use?
For the tweed yarn I used a 3.25mm (normally I use a 3.5mm for a 4 weight but it’s on the smaller side). For the posh yarn I used a 5mm hook. 😀

I am very happy with what I have and beyond grateful. I did start the dragon in the glow warm. 😀 My brain can be slow and I can get too fixated on a color. It’s will be fun for both of them to have it in a glow color.
