PHX Master Yes but glory lasts forever. He wasn't the best rider but he was one of the grittiest and it earned him 1 championship. A MotoGP World Championship. Praise doesn't get much higher than that.
Nicky Hayden, one of the nicest guys! In 2006, he was Mr Consistent, even though not the fastest. His consistency and Rossi's crashes meant he became the World Champion. A gentleman and a good rider. R.I.P Nicky!

i remember him as a rookie at 15...and the announcers (maybe even the same old guys)were amazed. as was i, this kid could ride like that and didnt even have a drivers license yet. racing pro with his older brother tommy, i think, at that point...he may have only been 14 im not sure
that is the funnest thing I ever herd. the reason he won the championship that year was pure luck. who wins championship with ONLY 2 wins ? = only the lucky guy. If Rossi didn't crash in valencia Hayden can only dream about the winning the championship. Like he used to say thanks to Toni Elias he won the championship, it's not that he was the best or something, so stop making him a champion that was pure luck, and he could NEVER ever repeat that even if you give him a JET motorcycle. Valentino Rossi the greatest
Hahahahaha, nice joke. He won a championship with shitty two victories and because Rossi had a lot of reliability problems with the yamaha. Worst champion ever!!! 3 victories in his whole career, what a joke
LMAO !! Hayden has been unable to beat his own teammate and rookie redding on the same bike. He got the big powa motah he whined all year and yep he is darn faster: three tenths and 15th overall ! Yeaaahaw. Even the new Suzuki is faster than the "champ" !!! LOL !
I've heard many say that Nicky was lucky to win the title in 2006. There is nothing like luck.. Did u see the way he muscled past Rossi in Valencia? Rossi buckled under the pressure and Hayden didn't... it was grit and determination that won him the title!
The Rossi fans say that. Hayden went head to head with Rossi in 2006 and won the title. Both of them had bad races. Rossi admitted that he messed up in Valencia. Hayden easily could have lost the title after his idiot teammate(Pedrosa) took them both out in Portugal. After the 2006 season the Honda bikes were not very good. The 2007 bike was a travesty. I met Hayden when he was racing in the AMA Superbike series here in the USA, where he won the SBK title in 2002. He was the nicest person in the paddock...period ! I honestly believe Nicky would have battled for a WSBK title had he not have died. For whatever reason the SBK bikes suited his riding style better than MGP. I miss watching him race. Had he won the WSBK title he would have been the only person to ever win a title in the 2 top series in the world as well as the AMA SBK series. He was only 34 when he passed...that was just too damn young ! RIP Champ !!! #69Forever
@@raymondchapman5990 Stop hating Pedrosa about what happened. Hayden had forgiven him, and mistakes like that can happen to anyone. That was just an unfavorable situation for such a mistake.
Nicky is just awesome! he will always be my favorite rider, win or loose, i root him on. I remember sitting on the couch watching the race with my dad, crying tears of joy as Nicky Hayden crossed the finish line he was crowned 2006 champion! GO KENTUCKY KID!
Another guy here wanting to pay his respects to number 69 after hearing the tragic news RIP Kentucky Kid One of the great personalities that instantaneously stood out the moment I started watching MotoGP.
Wish u all the best for Hayden's condition some days ago on street accident. I hope that Hayden could be healthy again fron the trauma that he has achieved from the crash.. Gws
2006 is the best season when much the competitif rider and nicky hayden give the surprise for all rider and then he's the champions #salute and miss him
would love to see the USA produce another rider like '06 Nicky in the modern era. im sure there are some youngsters, somewhere out here, who have the talent and ambition. hopefully sooner rather than later
I'm from the UK mate and tbh with you it's only a matter of time before you folks produce another legend cos these Europeans have had their time, I thought Hopper was gona do it but hey it's gona happen
The battles between Nicky and Rossi in 2006 are the main reason I even started watching Moto GP. Such a disappointment he went out like he did. RIP Nicky
Hayden consistency to catch a point give him title, it shows winning isn't everything. In fact hayden only won 2 races but he has the world champion title, that more worth than just a victory. He's true sportsman in motogp we will miss you nicky, the kentucky kid :((
What I'm very like from Nicky, he never complain too much about everything, just race...and whatever we say, He one of the MotoGp Champion! that's the fact.
RIP Nick Hayden. You will be sorely missed. A great guy and great sportsman. While Motogp no longer wanted you as a (real) competitor, nevertheless as a person you were always welcome, appreciated and loved. the world of international professional road racing is sadder today. detractors and fans will miss you alike. God bless.
Dani has the potential. if there is somebody who had a lot of bad luck, it´s Dani. but the man can ride. He has won a lot in the final stages of the 2012 season. If he starts the 2013 season the way he finished 2012, he has alot of chance to be World Champ.
To those who say Nicky is a Lucky bugger, I agree. Given Rossi's record, it definitely takes some luck to fight a world championship neck and neck with the Doc. However, it was his consistency that put Hayden in the position to win and in the end he did. Thoroughly deserved and his win was probably one of the most popular. If Rossi was going to lose to someone, I'm Happy it was Nicky.
There's a difference between "Luck" and "Consistency". He might've only won 2 races that season, but he finished top 3 how many times? This is why they award the title based on cumulative points, not how many wins someone had.
Agree.... HRC boss Nakamoto san has said "I think if Dani Pedrosa doesn’t take the title in 2013, he probably never will, but if he does, then it’s quite possible he’ll go on to be champion several times."
I rather hear this music over Justin Bieber and One Direction anyday of the week. Nice video of Nicky Hayden capturing the Moto GP title back in 2006. I got into Moto GP at the beginning of 2007.
exactly! It must be noted, that Rossi, and italian on an italian bike did nothing. He said the Ducati factory will not listen to riders and act insulted if told their bike design needs changing. In fact Ducati always has to get special favors to be competitive, like more displacement than competing machines. If they want to compete, build a competitive bike, don't ask for rules changes to cheat your way to the top!
RIP Hayden, Always in our hearts!
Some of the best words I've heard "ladies and gentlemen salute the 2006 Motogp world champion ,it's the American Nicky Hayden"
