Thanks for making this video Andy ! I love Archaeology & pottery making ! I was born in Florence & live in the same house I grew up in - near Prince/Oracle area, thanks also for the portion of Tucson history !
I'm blessed to have clay I can harvest on private land, with permission, on the edge of the wilderness area in Vermont. I've seen a lot of the places I roamed in Vermont turned into second houses and condos. I bought a corn grinder last month and now know why 🤣
Have you seen my book "Mud Puzzles" ancientpottery.how/product/book-mud-puzzles/ it is not a pottery making manual but describes what was going on in ancient Arizona and how I came to make replicas.
I live in Tucson. I was going to purchase some commercial clay for a project. Not anymore. I’m thinking that the river down towards Green Valley might be fruitful. 🤷 Edit: I’m also remembering seeing clay out old Old Nogales Hwy…
@@AncientPottery Thanks! I’ve never tried anything clay, but you’ve lit a flame. I’m looking forward to getting my hands muddy! Currently watching all your videos. 😁👍
The grinding disks are replaceable, just held in place by screws. They will last for years, check out this video ruclips.net/video/7GKyK0cvzbY/видео.html
Pottery in the Americas started with the Valdivia culture of coastal Ecuador, at least a full thousand years before ceramics were made in the valley of Mexico.
It’s really sad to see these areas disappearing
Yes indeed.

Lots of great history in Tucson, my family moved there in the 19 teens. It has sure changed a lot and not for the better IMO.

Thanks. The history and recent changes narrative is great.
Glad you liked it
What a great channel you have! Friendly suggestion - maybe drop the music, it is distracting and competes with your presentation
Thanks, this video is a bit old, I have improved on my audio since then.
Another great video...you are just having WAY too much fun!
Thanks. I take every opportunity to get out of the house and explore.
Enjoying your video from Prayagraj India

Yes,what you said is right, these areas will disappear.
I recommend you to write a book on ancient pottery and I would be the first to buy it.

How can I determine how old my clay is? It came from 40 ft untouched land.

How long can a corn grinder stand up to abrasive clay and sand?
Are the grinding wheels replaceable? Michael
