It's worth mentioning that you keep the premium deluxe and your purchased airplanes. You'll only miss out on the newly added ones. For example there is no need to purchase the premium deluxe edition of 2024 to get the 787 if you already own premium deluxe of 2020.

I hope you’re right, but I wonder if the ports of these aircraft will be with the new dynamics etc of the 2024 versions.

@@Daveodaddeo101 I don't think they are porting over the 2020 version, there will just be the 2024 version and everyone who had the 2020 version gets the new one. It would make no sense what so ever to keep people stuck on an old aircraft with no further development.

@@320SimPilot I'm middle aged and just starting my flight training. Private pilot only. VFR initially, IFR depending on how that goes. Something I've wanted to do since I was a teen, but never had the time or money. Do you feel this is adequate for flight training? Are the lower editions accurate for flight training? What is a good budget controller set. I don't need a 5 grand over the top set, just a good set of basics. Thank you very much. I will listen to your entire presentation, it may be that you answered most of my questions already. If so, I apologize. Just excited. Had a windfall investment which makes all of this possible so I am excited.

Hiring Working Title was the best thing Microsoft did for the sim, hands down. The improvements they've made to default aircraft are just incredible. They turned the unflyable 787 and 747 into something I can just hop in and fly. Not to mention the various Garmins.

MSFS 2020 is the best thing to ever happen to flight sim. Before it all we had were small P3D and X-Plane communities and this blew it wide open to more casual gamers. Say what you want but that’s what we needed. Look at the amount of developers and addons created. Addons from FSX updated for the first time in over 10 years. There was some definite money grabs from some but the interest from the general community this game had is something to behold on what I believe was a really small niche community up until MSFS 2020.
It being on Xbox is a massive help, I thought it would be the sims biggest problem as PC simmer as they tried to make it compatible for both, but in truth, it’s made the sim much more popular and brought people into our hobby and community that may never have had the chance, and fair play to Asobo this game has been well developed. It may have little issues here and there but it wasn’t so long ago where a lot of us were relying on 32 bit FSX/P3D (pre v4) worrying if we were going to use more than 4gb of RAM!
I was surprised and a little sceptical when MSFS2020 was announced, but my god it brought a new lease of life into our hobby and community, and for that alone without even considering the other amazing things in the sim, it ranks at the top for me!

    • @insayn7995
      @insayn7995 Месяц назад +1

Can’t agree more. It allowed casual gamers like me who are into aviation to get a taste of flight sims, which along with many other things, did wonders for the MSFS brand and the flight aim community. Bringing to Xbox was a genius move as so many people don’t have access to PCs that can handle the game.

The reason the older 'premium deluxe' aircraft are still in the PD edition is because they carry over from 2020. So if you only purchase the 2024 standard edition have had the premium in 2020 you will still get those particular premium aircraft in 2024. The Aviators is just all of the 'Local Legends and Famous Flyers' in a big bundle, if you already have them from 2020 don't bother to get it in 2024 as they will carry over from 2020. Likewise with all of your Marketplace purchases.
Also, the Longitude is awesome, very fun to fly.

For aviator's edition, that is basically a colllection of all the Famous flyers, Local legends and Expert series (ATR) aircraft. You will keep every aircraft you've already bought from those even if you are not going for that edition in the new sim. I believe you only need to want 7 aircraft from that list to "justify" the price. so the upgrade would be worth the same as 7 of those individually. So it's very good value for money if you don't already own most of them and some of those interest you. I'm going for the aviator's edition but I think standard or premium deluxe will be the choice for many.
Great video as always, looking forward to the future.

The extra planes in the aviator edition are all the marketplace aircraft that were released as a Microsoft asobo thing, for example Flying Legends, Reno Air Race pack etc. It allows someone to buy that collection as a bundle.. If you owned them already then they get carried over to the new sim anyway. As before you can also purchase the planes separately too if you just want a couple but compared to buying them all separately it's a huge discount.

there is a replay function in 2020, it's just hidden in experimental it's in the 2024, i played the beta last month. In fact i think from what i remember the modder who made the replay addon is now doing it for 2024.
the most noticable thing from the beta was it was only 9gb and the load times into flight where so much better than 2020

Appreciate your input as ever. The Longitude is one of my favourites since the avionics were sorted and plus the flight model mod that was available. It is essentially an airliner lite - pretty quick to get going but you still have the perf items to set up - for takeoff and landing - and has autothrottles. As mentioned above the avionics really good now. Also very fast so great for a round-the-world part 91 experience unless you copy cockpit casual guys! - have made it from Africa to Hong Kong so far via the US. No cabin but thoroughly recommend you give it another go!

HOWEVER, i just feel like i will personally need to wait and be a late adopter - the absurd amt of time i spent with MSFS dead in the water over the first TWO YEARS directly resulting from updates, only to ultimately have to reinstall MSFS entirely due to a seemingly endless series of updates that would fail MSFS into an unrecoverable state.
I hope i am wrong. But personal time is very tight and i simply need a high ratio of flt time to update/maintenance/reboot time.
I am cautiously optimistic that MSFT will be WAY more hands on so as to release a robust/scalable MSFS.

I think most of us have already bought a lot, if not all of the aviator edition planes, which will for sure work in 2024 by the way, so that edition is more or less geared toward new simmers who never played 2020, or didn't buy many addon aircraft. Premium deluxe is still the way to go for most of us veteran simmers.

Not sure if it was stated as I skipped through some of the video.
But don't forget that any planes you own in your 2020 edition, you already own in 2024. So if you own the 20 Prem deluxe version, you own all those aircraft in 24 regardless of which edition you own. It may be worth getting a cheaper version and buying planes seperately if you only want an extra 1 or 2.

iniBuilds are doing the A330 and Asobo is doing the 737 MAX. Aviator edition doesn't include anything new. It's literally just a bundle deal for all the MS published addon aircraft at a better price. I have 2020 Premium Deluxe, so I'm a bit on the fence about whether to get Standard or the newer Premium Deluxe. Essentially you're paying £60 extra for 15 extra new planes (£4/plane). The only ones I'm truly excited for in that list are the Saab 340B and the Dreamlifter, so £60 is perhaps a bit pricey for just those 2 planes, BUT what I don't know is if buying the Premium Deluxe gets you an upgraded 787-10 with new 2024 features, like an improved flight model and better ground handling. If that is the case, then I think that would make the upgrade a no-brainer for me.

What put me off MSFS 2020 was when the installer created undeletable files on my drives and wouldnt deinstall properly. Using the app from the xbox store on a windows system I at least expect it to not fuck up my PC. I have been using X-Plane since then and are curious if 2024 has a better installer and file management

I found you when I got fs2020 in late 2022 and I had little to no idea how to fly the fbw A32NX. My only airbus experience was the default FSX A321 and we all know that one isn’t realistic 😂 and I had some experience with vasFMC, a freeware FSX FMC that was airbus based, but other than that, the A32NX was my first time flying an actual airbus cockpit.

Taxiway. Ha! I lost track of how many taxi lights I've taken out. They are everywhere. But you're right. Those standard airports are my only complaint for 2020. In the tech Alpha I didn't see much difference honestly. But then again that version was so limited, it's best to keep my mouth shut until Tuesday. Asobo built the 737. And yes. If you bought them and are in your marketplace as purchased. They will be available to you on 2024. Also. All Microsoft aircraft will get free upgrades to 2024 versions

Don't forget the five additional upgraded airports at Deluxe or above. Even though no one seems to know which airports they will be, or have more than speculation about the 150 they are upgrading for 2024. Anybody have any intel on this?

    Staying with 2020 awhile.
    1. I'm not close to fully exploring all the great things about 2020. I wonder how many of us have really explored and done a deep dive and gotten pretty much all that 2020 has to offer? I sure as heck am not going to get it simply because a new version is out. I've spent a lot of time getting 2020 set up to my liking.
    2. It will cost more than simply buying 2024. Many will need to spend money to upgrade their computer. Many will have already spent hours building and tweaking 2020 to their liking.
    3. Not an early adopter. I'll let others deal with any issues, expected or otherwise, and wait for Microsoft to work them out. Might be a better price by then too.
So, for all the focus and wondering about what 2024 will be that content creators and others are doing I'm probably enjoying using //42 campout setting up a camp somewhere in the Rockies or enjoying the beaches in Hawaii. I've got to wrap this up as I've just been cleared for takeoff from KASE.

I pre-purchased the Aviator Edition and super excited about flying again, my only question is what the download size is because on steam the specs state that you need 50 GB's of storage space but I'm assuming that to be for the Standard Edition. It would be nice to know the download size for each edition

With the knowledge that all the Aviator Edition planes are just the official MS DLC planes for 2020, do you think the planes on offer are worth it for someone who hasn't purchased any of those planes for 2020? I'm finding it very hard to track down whether people actually enjoy flying those planes, which seems to be like the most pertinent question. From the ones you own, do you think they are enjoyable or would it be better to save that cash for some of the payware third party aircraft offered down the line?

I really wanted to like MSFS2020 as I'm a PPL student learning to fly visually. I mostly flew the C150 / 172 but find these flight models to be very inaccurate (using the Saitek yoke and throttle quadrant) and keep returning to XP12, which has really helped me progress in my training. I hope 2024 fixes some of the 'arcade' flight model feel for GA - this doesn't have as much of an impact on larger jets due to their stability an benign handling characteristics, but when you're flying more viscerally, it's very noticeable that the flight model is nowhere near as good as XP (IMHO). I don't want to start a civil war, they're both great in different ways. I'm open to the fact that it's a problem with my set up or configuration, I'd love to get that sorted out if that's all it is, but I've spent hours - days - of my life trying to figure it out and got nowhere.
