Love this tune and the lyrics! “Or commanded so Gen. Lee”
Unfortunately doubt it will get airplay these days. Crossing my fingers RUclips doesn’t cancel it.

I heard this song today on Bluegrass Junction and instantly fell in love with it! I am a HUGE Civil War geek, but I had never heard the story of Flem Galloway. You guys told it beautifully and it was so neat to see his house in the video too. I hope you have more Civil War songs in those instrument strings.

As a direct descendant of 6 ‘Johnny Rebs’, two of which were POW’s and one who died, this song hits some deep emotions. Great song! GSTS!

@@michaelbarnett2527 my great great grandfather, Archibald Benjamin Rooks and my great grandfather, William Henry Barnhill, both privates in the 18th NC Co. E, the Moore’s Creepy Rifles, were taken prisoner at Spotsylvania Courthouse in May of 1864. They were taken to Point Lookout, MD and transfered to Elmira, NY where they both survived! Earlier, they had both survived Pickett’s Charge.

@@Jeff-xy7fv I just discovered their existence a few weeks ago. I stopped listening to Bluegrass when my older brother died in 2008. He was an avid fan of the Bluegrass sound. To hear it was to remember how he died. I just happened to run across this group when I was searching for something entirely different from Bluegrass. Very glad I found it.

Remember to tell your children of the sacrifice the United States made to eradicate slavery. No other country on earth every fought a civil war, let alone it's bloodiest war...because those words were in the constitution "All men are created equal under God".
