Thanks for the video! I sent you an email request for the spreadsheet and the formula. I'm now watching the video again to figure out how you came up with the taxable gallons.
Do you have any guidance for hotshot drivers that use the truck for both business and personal use? I calculated my miles and my MPG is below the 5-10 range. What do I do? We only did 1 load for a total of 600 miles round trip and 207g purchased.
Thank you for the video , and can you tell me how to get another stiker for the other truck ? We bought another 2 trucks , but dont know how to get sticker for the new truck , if you have any information please let me know , thank you very much !!!
Thank you so much for this video. Would you be able to do one that goes step by step on how to put together this spread sheet with the formula also? I really love your spread sheet.
@@DIYSEMI Hi, your video is very informative, thank you so much! I too am interested in the spreadsheet. It took me 6 hours to code a spreadsheet from youtube, but I got through it. Is it possible for you to email me the spreadsheet as well? Please and thank you. :)

Or do you manually restart your trip meter every time you enter a different state and then record your gallons used?? Seems like the latter method would be easy to mess up
Track gallons by fuel receipts. Track miles by eld or on paper. Taxable gallons is miles traveled divided by avg mpg for the quarter. The difference between gallons purchased and gallons used determines if u under or over paid... refund/pay in
What if you didn’t drive the truck for business for a certain quarter? Like if the truck was down and only driving you did was to get it to a shop. I know there’s a “no operations” but a bit confused if this applies to business miles or any moving of the truck at all even if it wasn’t for business.
this seems like it's a lot of trouble, on top of everything else an owner operator is already keeping track of. how do you even know how many gallons you burn in each state? man...what a nightmare.
How do you calculate the miles? Do you calculate city to city on each load you do? What about the gallons purchased? Do you go by the amount you pay after the discount or before? Appreciate your help. This is the first time I'm doing ifta. Also, how do you calculate when you go in between states for etc texas to Oklahoma going and coming back one time.
First, it goes by the number of gallons you purchase in each state. Price has nothing to do with it . Second, you must track your miles you drive in each state. I write down the odometer for each state line I cross....or some ELD's track this for you
@@DIYSEMI what does total IFTA miles and total NON-IFTA miles mean? Also, in each jurisdiction it asks total IFTA Miles and Taxable miles what is the difference please help!!
Non-IFTA Miles Non-IFTA miles are the miles traveled in jurisdictions that are not members of IFTA. The Northwest Territories, Nunavut Territories and Yukon Territory of Canada, the United Mexican States (Mexico), Alaska and the District of Columbia are non-IFTA jurisdictions. If you don't travel any of these non-IFTA jurisdictions, then all your miles would be taxable.
Could I also get from you a copy of your excel speed for this? I would like to also start using it. You videos have vastly helped educate me. Thank you!
Ok i have a question, @2:54 if you look it says under the column "total/tax miles" it says 3120. the next column says "taxable Gallons" with the value of 411 for IL. But then the next column it says "Tax-Paid Gallon" and that is way different value of 1522 which brings a defecit of 1111. Okay my question is why are they different values? aren't the taxable gallons the same as the tax paid gallons that you buy at the fuel station? so isn't it, if I purchased $1000 of fuel in illinios wouldn't it be the same value under the taxable gallon column?
no...taxable gallons is how many gallons you burned in A state based on the miles travelled and your average fuel economy. tax paid gallons is how many gallons you actually purchased in that state....
Its kinda up to you to figure ouy how to organize... Have you seen my cosr per mile video? I show ehat i do with my receipts. I track my miles on paper.
Amazing and very helpful information. I do have one question, I recently started my business which I need to file paper ifta returns for the first quarter of my business. In this case it will not calculate the burned fuel in each state, I have miles driven each state and gallons purchased. How am I going to calculate what I need to pay and if I am eligible for refund. Thank you so much
miles driven dived by gallons purchased gives you your average fuel economy. multoply that by the miles in a state and that is your gallons burned in each state. watch my other ifta video also

I'm leased on as a owner operator with my LLC. I'm leasing the truck from the carrier. I pay for my own fuel with my card, should I give the company I'm leased on to my fuel receipts? They asking me for the receipts.
