Glad you’re back here with travel content. This region in Italy seems more interesting than the ones in Central Italy. Great job explaining this lesser known region.
Ostuni-Gallipoli-Monopoli-Polignano a Mare-Fasano-Lecce-Brindisi is my favourite triangle in puglia. Beautiful beaches, great food and drinks all provided by people that know how to live very close to heaven, while firmly rooted to their home soil.
Good job! I'm Italian and I live in Puglia. Good description. Puglia is a wonderful region and if you want you can also visit Trani- Barletta- grotte di castellana- Polignano-otranto- vieste and Gargano. If you like sea and white beach with a crystalline sea you have to stay in salento ( it's the area in the south of Puglia) expecially the area of Gallipoli. Good holiday in Puglia!
Thanks so much for sharing this video - really helpful! i've been told Puglia is more of a Summer vacation destination. Do you think it's still worth visiting Puglia during xmas and the new year?
Great video. You mentioned a tasting restaurant was one of the best restaurants. You were going to include the link but I don’t see the link or name of the restaurant. Hope it is still open.
Very interesting video, great content... Thanks for sharing! Would be nice to have more info about their wine; I know Salento has some excellent wine e.g. Primitivo.
Appreciate the video, I'm heading there next month and trying to build an itinerary. But I wish you spoke more about where to go, where to eat, what to see, travel tips, where to park, etc.
Very nice video. Will be there for a month, this November. It is one of the few regions that I still need to discover. I also lived years ago in the North ( Torino )
Nothing unethical about Matera. You could say that about almost everywhere. Prior to 1900 most of the Western the world lived on less than a dollar a day in today’s terms. Extreme poverty was the way of the world until fairly recently.
I will be in Puglia starting September 26 for one month. So far I have reserved an Airbnb in Bari for 3 nights. I am looking for inexpensive places to stay in some of the other cities. I won't have a car unless I decide to rent one. Do I need an international driver's license?
An excellent writeup at Wikipedia - en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sassi_di_Matera. Very interesting place. People lived in the carved out houses since 7000 BC.
Thanks for this, I'm heading to Puglia next week. But.. you certainly are from USA to call that a 'compact car' :) I'd love to rent a car but I'm used to driving on the other side and I don't want to practice 'the wrong way around' in small streets... so I'll be taking a lot of trains :)
As someone from the area, the description of Matera is very depressing and ridiculous…I mean, ethical implication? Do you know that the entire country was at was at some point, and got destroyed like most of Europe? Is this what you think of when you wonder in the streets of Rome? Come on…
Totally agree. One sided, ignorant, young American opinion, without much true understanding of history and the advancements that we've all enjoyed in the world.
@FedeDiver1 What he said was correct. Just because you do not like the history, doesn't make it false to say it out loud. The "ethical implications" comment you seem to take issue with is whether or not it's right to go marvel at how people used to live in squalor. And they did live in squalor. "As a person who....." isn't an argument; everyone is entitled to their own opinion.
Thank you. Very interesting. I am planning a trip to Puglia in a year or so. And then I have to ask you if Puglia really is pronounced Apuglia?? I want to say it right when I am there. I have never heard it pronounced like Apuglia anywhere before now.
Yeah it's a weird one. In Italy it's definitely POOLIA, said like that. but in English I've seen it with and without and A. Not sure where the A came from.
@@TalesFromTheRoad Thank you for clearing that up 🙂 I thought it was Poolia 🙂 And I am from Norway, so I have never heard the English A-version before😊
Extremely overrated region, yes the sea is gorgeous and the food too but overall the organization is bad, the services are bad, trash and fecal matter on every sidewalks.
Your depiction of Matera ('depressing, very sad, unethical') in the 1950s-1960's is very much over the top dramatic. Educate yourself before you talk about people and regions you obviously know very little about. A typically American (young) point of view.

Good holiday in Puglia!
Puglia is a city of white square buildings, a large area, just glowing in the sun - very beautiful and distinctive.
helloo how is the weather in October in puglia for summer vacation?? 🥹😅
Glad I came across your channel. Some really good practical advice. You have locations thats I am looking to visit this year.

If you’d like a travel consulting session about all the details, you can book one with me :)
Hi there,
I don’t see the link to the restaurant in Bari that you mentioned was your best meal? Can you please let me know what the name is?
yes this!! also the name of the street in bari with the women making pasta in the street?
Looks like he is not reading comments or answering questions.

This is great. I've been to Puglia once already but am planning on visiting again this Fall. Thanks.
Your english is great! very clear and accurate! Nice video! Thanks for the nice info!
Well done. Very helpful for my upcoming trip in October.
I was also interested in the restaurant you referred to but I somehow missed the link. Please provide if you can. Thank you.
Wonderful video! Do you have the link to that restaurant in Bari?
I can’t find the link to the favourite restaurant you mention in Bari. What is it called? Thanks
Very nice video. Will be there for a month, this November. It is one of the few regions that I still need to discover. I also lived years ago in the North ( Torino )
Very clear and good explanation!! Congratulations for your clear dialectic!!
Can't find link to restaurant in Bari. Can you add here pls.
Same

Matera also had a terrible earthquake.
Would you be able to provide the link or name of the restaurant you went to in Bari?
Was called La Uascezze
Did you say the people were removed in 1960? Where were they moved to? Are many still alive?

Croatia is in Schengen zone.

Hi there! Great Puglia overview, thank you. How did you deal with parking? I understand you need a car for the best experience, but am concerned...
Lots of easy options actually. Wasn’t hard
Is it easy to find petrol station? Parking easy at tourist spots? Tk
Just a small correction, Bari is on the Adriatic not the Mediterranean 😊😊
@@dominickdetommaso3897 Adriatic flows into the Mediterranean, hence it is a part of it

Ok, so Puglia is not on the Mediterranean, it’s on the Adriatic
Half of the day in Ostuni!? The nightlife and cruise around the town took us 3 days, and we still didn't see it all!
Bari is not on the Mediterranean. It’s on the Adriatic.
The Adriatic is part of the Mediterranean. That's like saying the North Sea isn't the Atlantic.
You're Italian American 😊
Military huh?
I know italians talk with your hands but watching was bad 5:08

what are you even on about. I took that info directly from the museum in Matera.
