I just found your page and I love it already! I have been Irish dancing on and off the past 5 years with a teacher who is not really strict and hasn’t taught me new moves/tricks. I’m currently a dance major in college and really want to continue Irish dancing, but my school doesn’t offer it. Your channel is the answer to my problems! I’m learning sooooo much already!!
Thank you so much for demonstrating that rogue rhythm cut step so very patiently, and for the reminders not to drop heels to keep the sound clean. I love the calm way this dance feels, looks, and sounds.
Rally’s....or would that be rallies? Lol. Christina Ryan school is who I started with ages ago and that’s what she called them. Miss being in a class dreadfully but I’m in an area in Virginia where the nearest school is almost 2 hrs away. So very thankful to have found your channel!! Will you be doing more prize winner/open steps at some point? 😁🤞
Great question! So we have our two parts to a treble; the brush forward and the brush back. When doing your brush back, bring it back enough so the foot returns back to right underneath you. It is also possible (and totally acceptable) to move forward with this step!
@@TylerSchwartzDance Thank you so much Tyler taking the time to answer my question. I truly appreciate it!!! I look forward to your videos, they are very instructional and your down to Earth teaching is refreshing!!! God bless you.
I just started to learn Irish stepdancing in hopes to get my daughter to practice her steps. Any advice for this mom with no coordination to get the first few hard shoe steps.
Start in soft shoe and build your fundamentals there. Once you're confident in soft shoe, carry that technique over to hard shoe! Slow and steady persistence wins the race!
We're learning soft shoe also. Reel, slip jig and the first 6 light jig steps. We started learning a few basic hard shoe steps since we did fairly well with our soft shoe. Hard shoe seems like a much faster pace, it's hard to keep up at first. I told my daughter (she's 7 and has been in dance since 4) that I give her alot of credit this is not easy stuff!
If you’re having trouble keeping balance, it’s always good to use a wall or something to hold onto for balance support while your feet figure out the dance! Gradually the footwork will get easier to keep balanced!
Thank you so much for wearing a black and a white sock. What a great idea ! It helps so much. I love all your lessons. Thank you.
You’re welcome! It was actually an idea from a student of mine, and I loved it! And thank you for supporting the channel 😊

Always happy to help 😊 glad you liked the vid!
Tyler's patience is wonderful!
@@sallyrickerson9139 much appreciated! :)
Thank you! You're step by step instructions and dance has helped me learn how to Irish dance.
You are my go to for Irish dancing. The schools in my area are too expensive so I rely a lot on your channel. Cheers!
Great video. I like the explanation of the jig rhythm…1,2,3,1,2,3,etc.
Oh definitely! Something that’s often overlooked in soft shoe is that there’s still a “rhythm” to the dance!
This is fantastic - I have been trying to grasp this for ages and now it makes sense! Thank you.
That’s so great to hear!! 😊😊
Great stuff here. Thanks. 58 year old thinking about learning a few steps.
Go for it! The three P's of Irish Dance are Patience Persistence and Perseverance. It'll eventually click!
Love your style!

Thank you!!!!👌
Happy to help! 😊
Good morning.I have a question please. How does one not move forward doing these steps. How do you stay in one place? Thank you in advance.
