Not defending them, but I believe that they had been business associates for many years. Both of them had been in long-term relationships that didn’t work out for one reason or another. It’s quite possible that neither had found their True Soul Mates, then realized it was Each Other.
For all we know, the First Wife could have been the one to get pregnant to marry Him. (He admits to Two “outside children” while married to her.)
Alicia has never been married, so maybe He just picked the wrong one the first time. (Not excusing his adultery.) Her long-time beau didn’t blame Swizz for Their break-up.
