  • Walleye Lures - 5 Best Lures To Catch Spring Walleyes Fast In 2019
    In this walleye lures video Dan gives his top walleye fishing lures. Selecting the best walleye bait for each fishing situation in spring is very important. There is a best walleye lure for each technique and location.
    Sometimes a jig and minnow will be the best for catching walleye. Live bait will shine sometimes. And sometimes you will need to use crank baits or soft plastic.
    The rapala rippin rap is a great lure to catch walleye in the spring. The husky jerk and the rapala shad rap are also good lures.
    When walleye fishing in the spring you will look for structure like wood, weeds and gravel.
    When live bait is your choice… the best live bait is big minnows, extra-large fat heads or chubs are the best.
    I like using paddle tail baits for catching walleye in the spring, they often catch bigger than average fish.

    Replacement arrived!By the way, I did forget to mention that the original lure did have a decent strike however as most anglers will attest you can get a hit ruclips.net/user/postUgkxCbNOWAGmn6nfbCbJDmasvBq7J38KZNw2 and fish will hang on and release lure. I used the replacement lure yesterday and ran thru a Shimano Waxwing, Kastmaster, Bobber (set to sink). I found the does run deep (I casting on the flats 3.5'). Make sure you adjust your rate of retrieve and rod tip angle (up) to prevent getting snagged on bottom. Used it a couple of times and action was very lifelike (looked like local bait fish for trevally), craftsmanship very good....however eyeball fell out. I asked for replacement and it is on it's way! It was very easy to change out treble to single inline hook.

    Totally agree. The Rapala X rap is my go to lure. I've limited out in one day just using that lure. I tend to go with orange or pink because it tends to mimic blood.

    I'm on the other end of the spectrum when it comes to jigs. I much prefer 1/2 and 5/8 oz jigs usually with braid. I can feel the moment my jig hits the bottom and I like to work no more than 2 inches off bottom in the spring. They are much more effective too when there is a bit of wind you have to contend with.

    Nice video, very informative. I was wondering if you could suggest sizes and colors for the Rippin rap, the ex rap, and husky jerk. I'm fishing off of break walls at night around the central basin of Lake Erie near Cleveland. Shoreline Anglers here don't talk much in terms of what they're using for what they're catching and honestly that's fine I'm not looking for trophies I'm looking for fish fries. Any help would be greatly appreciated thanks

      Travis Plank number 6 rip n rap is perfect for walleyes

    • @stevenwalker9013
      @stevenwalker9013 2 года назад

      Color is based on water clarity. Clear: use silver and natural baitfish colors. Muddy: use golds and chartreuse and bright colors. Now sometimes this doesn’t matter. If they are on fire it’s more about the action over color.

    • @dominatefishing9641
      @dominatefishing9641  6 лет назад

      good question, it depends on the time of year and the situation... but most of the time my first choice is a jig and minnow... its hard to beat a jig and minnow... when the water gets warm I will substitute the minnow for a night crawler some times.

    Wally divers and wally minnows are also great body baits to use especially the blue or glowing Gobi colors. Luhr Jensen hot shot #70 to # 50 black scale work well also....but you can not beat a orange or pink rapala lure they'll catch fish in all kinds of conditions.

      @@dominatefishing9641 Usually fish it using a jerk and crank retrieve, jerk, jerk, jerk and crank up the slack then repeat. In shallow water where it hits bottom I'll fish it slower to let it just bump the bottom a little.

    • @scottb4540
