If you read it in the original Greek it is placed first in the sentence to stress the present reality of this rest experience. The verb (remains) 4:9 means the same, present tense, it refers back to Joshua 4:8 in order to suggest the present permanence of the Sabbath.
In Hebrews 4:9 the historical usage is termed Sabbistismo- A Sabbath rest. I am not sure if you have studied Greek, but the usage is of a cognate verb "sabbatizo" which refers to a Sabbath observance chron.36:21. NIV, ASB, and most bible versions concur with this. And also why in Zakhariah14 it says that after second coming of Messiah all nations would have to come and worship the Messiah during the Sukkot (Tabernacles) ??? Paul was an authority on the Law and he taught nothing to the churches he founded concerning the keeping of the sabbath ordinances. He said if anyone, even an angel starts to preach a different gospel than what he taught they are accursed. Hebrews 4:9- It is absolutely The 7th Day Sabbath. It is a eschatological view of the Sabbath and it's redemptive meaning. Two passages are linked together (gen2:2 & psalm95:7,11) to explain why the divine rest promised at creation was not done away with when the Israelites under Joshua found a resting place in Cannan, since God offered his rest again through David (psalm95:7). Gods promised Sabbath rest awaited a fuller realization which came with the coming of christ.
The 7th day sabbath law was a teaching device to point man back to Gods original creation rest. Jesus performed mighty works on the sabbath to emphasize that He was the reality to which the sabbath pointed. That in Him God was offering man the true rest of which the day was only a symbol. "first day of the week" in Act. and in Cor. is a very BAD translation of the Greek phrase "sabbaton". Some English translations put there "in one of Sabbaths" or "in first Sabbath".. the word "week" in Greek is not "sabbaton", it is "evdomáda"="week". But this word is not present in the Text. Sabbaton is Sabbath. So, early Christians (mostly paganised 10 tribes of Israel- lost sheep) met on Sabbaths and had a lot of joyful celebrations for God's name.. And on the 6th day Jesus declard it is finished. He and the Fathers work (John 5:17) of restoring the creation rest relationship with mankind was complete. You are absolutely correct! The Sabbath observed by Jesus was the same as observed by Moses (the law giver) and it was the "Lunisolar Calendar" based on phases of the moon. The moral commandments which make up most of the 10 commandments were always in effect for they reflect the righteousness of God. The Sabbath came into effect for the obedient Jew at the time of Moses. Along with the sabbath ordinances there were dietary, tithing, animal sacrifices, physical circumcision, dress and tax ordinances. Keeping these ordinances held promise only to the obedient Jew. Gods law is eternal - we can not pick and choose what laws to obey and what laws to disobey based on personal convince or the tradition of men.
You will not find one verse in the bible telling us to stop keeping the Sabbath. Only assumptions and a misreading of the texts and quotes from anti-Semitic church fathers that were looking for any way to distance themselves from the Jews.

If you read it in the original Greek it is placed first in the sentence to stress the present reality of this rest experience. The verb (remains) 4:9 means the same, present tense, it refers back to Joshua 4:8 in order to suggest the present permanence of the Sabbath.

In Hebrews 4:9 the historical usage is termed Sabbistismo- A Sabbath rest. I am not sure if you have studied Greek, but the usage is of a cognate verb "sabbatizo" which refers to a Sabbath observance chron.36:21. NIV, ASB, and most bible versions concur with this. Also you might want to look at "Vines Concise Dictionary" That "rest" used in this context is "A Sabbath Rest". Your concordance in the middle columns will be helpful also. Many Blessings.
So why this does apply in Messianic Kingdom (Isaiah66) ? It says all people would come and worship Yahwe on each New Moon and each Sabbath? And also why in Zakhariah14 it says that after second coming of Messiah all nations would have to come and worship the Messiah during the Sukkot (Tabernacles) ??? Paul was an authority on the Law and he taught nothing to the churches he founded concerning the keeping of the sabbath ordinances. He said if anyone, even an angel starts to preach a different gospel than what he taught they are accursed. Hebrews 4:9- It is absolutely The 7th Day Sabbath. It is a eschatological view of the Sabbath and it's redemptive meaning. Two passages are linked together (gen2:2 & psalm95:7,11) to explain why the divine rest promised at creation was not done away with when the Israelites under Joshua found a resting place in Cannan, since God offered his rest again through David (psalm95:7). Gods promised Sabbath rest awaited a fuller realization which came with the coming of christ.
The 7th day sabbath law was a teaching device to point man back to Gods original creation rest. Every 7th day man was to have a respite from his painful toil (Gen 3:17) and wearing labor (Ex.20:9) He would enjoy a little taste of the Eden sabbath and remember whence forth he had fallen. But like all the great festivals of the Mosaic calender, the sabbath would not only point back to Gods first work but foward to His last work when He would make all things new and restore the everlasting sabbath.

Jesus performed mighty works on the sabbath to emphasize that He was the reality to which the sabbath pointed. That in Him God was offering man the true rest of which the day was only a symbol. When Jesus proclaimed He was the light the World at the feast of tabernacles was He trying to tell us on which day to turn from darkness to light? When He died for our sins on passover was He telling us that easter was the time for liberation from sins? Or is Jesus the fulfillment of them all? Luke 24:44

Sabbaton is Sabbath. So, early Christians (mostly paganised 10 tribes of Israel- lost sheep) met on Sabbaths and had a lot of joyful celebrations for God's name.. The joy of the Lord is our strength. :-D

philosophy... Colossae was dominated by ascetics- religion that denies food, drink, any pleasures of this world etc. As Jesus was accused of being drunkard so Christian been accused by ascetics in Colossae when they met together on Sabbaths and other God's Days to celebrate eat and drink! Lord's Supper was a FULL meal with WINE (1Cor.11 !) and ascetics didn't like what believers were doing, having a lot of fun together on Sabbath and celebrating God's name with joy! :-D Sabbath Shalom! :-D
The Truth Exposed
The moral commandments which make up most of the 10 commandments were always in effect for they reflect the righteousness of God. The Sabbath came into effect for the obedient Jew at the time of Moses. Along with the sabbath ordinances there were dietary, tithing, animal sacrifices, physical circumcision, dress and tax ordinances. Keeping these ordinances held promise only to the obedient Jew. The commandments contained in the ordinances were abolished so that we could become one in Christ.
