  • Situated about 10 to 15 minutes west of Sevenoaks in Kent, accessed via a small country road in the surrounding Estate and large high up houses sits St Botolph, completely inaccessible by train (unless living in 1950s during the era of the Westerham branch). The church houses a rather lovely, very easy going and well maintained 10cwt 8, augmented in 2007 with two rather bright 3cwt trebles. As you see from the initial footage, they are all on one level, ropes all fall straight off the wheel in a typical 8 bell layout. Similarly to Otford, there is a small cavity between the ringing room and belfry - which one evening many years ago had a sudden desire to view and a photo probably resides somewhere in my collection.
We were originally going for 4 spliced (Cambridge, Yorkshire, Lincolnshire, Superlative) though this came to grief sadly - humidity also likely played a pivotable role too… To keep the locals and garden viewers entertained before the impending but incredibly welcome splash of rain, we rang separate methods instead - one of which was this piece of ringing.
