    The biggest problem WoT has these days is that the typical tank roles just don't really exist anymore and that the lines between the different tank types are very much blurred which results in numerous issues for the matchmaker and it's current templates. Everything has 445m+ viewrange and insane mobility these days and most of what is worth playing is something that has armor. Not to mention that most maps are very much catered towards your tank having armor as well. Add to that the 3 LTs in every game or there being way too many TDs and there's just no breathing room for really anyone to play effectively or rather to their tanks strengths.

      The Matchmaker doesn't care for templates enough. Heavy tank doesn't equal heavy tank. A T110E3 isn't played like a Grille 15. So many games go 15 0 because of this problem. If they factored this one thing into the matchmaker it would be so good for the overall enjoyment.

      Player issues too. Those who play heavies like TDs so your team is short a Frontline tank on a flank. Then that flank gets rolled quickly due to the overmatch

      i strongly agree and also strongly disagree... or would expand the problems mentioned here in the comments. my personal main problem in the MM is the fact the MM doesnt care about your stats. very very often the MM puts all the good or very good players into one team and puts the average to bad players into the other team creating these fast 15-0 matches that end after 2 minutes or so... one easy fix for the MM would be to balance the teams in terms of player skill (let it just be the players winrate as reference).
      another possible balance point could be the "battlepower" of a tank, similar to WarThunder you could put an aditional battle-tier to each tank so for example the stock tiger 2 doesnt get matched up against a BZ-176 as QB made as an example. fully upgraded tanks get matched against premium or other fully upgraded tanks for example, stock tanks get top tier in +/- 2 MM more often etc.
      in the end i fear all our hopes and discussions will never reach the ear of WG since those ideas would make the game better, but might reduce the quick buck WG wants to make while killing our beloved WoT... :(

      Yeah, almost zero spotting these days in pub matches, 9 of the 15 tanks are TD's and they all redline the back bushes while the heavies have to be spotters.

    You missed one of the biggest reasons people quit! The fast/sub 4 minutes games where it doesn’t matter what you do. If your team or the enemy team can decide the outcome of a game in the first 2 minutes it’s not fun. I literally quit because of 15-5/5-15 games. I’m just a cog in the cycle and not a player.

      thats what happens if there is no skillbased mm at all. Like I understand that a too restrictive skillbased mm can be boring as well, but light skillbased mm will help everyone. Like for example dont make players with 2k rating face players with 10k rating. Cos those huge differences in skill is what makes those totally one-sided battles.

      Are you on Europe server? In NA it's so rare to have sub 5 min games. I say this as a newer player with ~2k games.

      @@robinkhn2547 Shouldn't be skill 'based' (that would just create castes which would quickly kill the game) - it should be skill 'balanced' - i.e. both teams should have a total rating variance of no more than 15%, with huge outliers at the top end being force-matched against players of similar rating and top tier platoons *forced* to match against their peers regardless of team compositions.

    For me it's the inflation in mobility, view range and to some degree DPM. Mobility and DPM are the enablers of these really quick 3 minute games. View range makes it a lot harder to flank and make creative plays without being detected and destroyed. Mobility and view range have effectively made the maps tiny compared to how things were back in 2010-2015.
    You're now forced into template-playstyles; you go somewhere unconventional you either get spotted and destroyed, or you contribute to a 3 minute loss or get nothing out of a 3 minute win.
    This is why I mostly enjoyed light tanks the last couple of years. You're fast, stealthy and thereby have far more options on how and where to play.

      No those 3 minute games are decided by mm before they even start. It make no difference what you do in those games your RNG goes to shit and you know with the first shot what the outcome will be

      Also, maps feel much more constricted than in the past I think- you go to the designated Corridor/ridgeline and the side with better/more tanks wins (assuming no major skill discrepancy). Not sure if it's because of viewrange or design, but making flanking plays like you could on Dragon Ridge is kind of unthinkable on most maps today

      that's exactly how i felt coming from War Thunder and trying out WOT. in WOT i would always find myself killed trying to do something creative because i'd get spotted and get hammered by about 7 tanks plus arty, whereas WT encourages that kind of thing with its lack of spotting mechanics. there's no doubt that WT has its own gameplay flaws but i can see why it has been gaining popularity over WOT (at least, it seems to me that that's the case)

      sounds like 40 sitting in storage and about 5 of which actually in the pool with the pool regenerated every few hours or so. -probably saves memory on the servers.- could be as simple as ID numbers in a list unless they have to use some complicated map validation checks

      Lower tiers have less players or used to. There used to be much longer mm waiting time in lower tiers.

    I played for 9 years, I stopped playing for a month, the game simply no longer gives me pleasure, just frustration, anger and I'm in a bad state of mind. It was the best thing I did and I actually feel better about life in general, calmer and happier.

    New player here. I find the match matching of experienced players against less experienced players to be the reason I don't enjoy playing.

      Not to mention that old players have better skill, more resources and better tanks. I have created new acc just to see how it is for a new player today, and it is pain in the butt.

      Yes I want the mm to make all matches were both sides have good chances to win by deviding the good tanks and high win rate players between the teams. But I think a lot of the unicums would start complaining when their win rate started to fall and they didn't get to pick on less skilled players most of the time. I stopped subbing when I realized mm was making me lose so many games no matter how well I played. I suspect they don't want to fix it because all the unicums sub and they don't want to lose them as subs.

      Yeah, we had this problem always, shitty players that get bullied in high tiers because of their lack of skill, then go and bully new players in low tiers.

    Well, I know for a fact that there's algorithms going against some people. I can play 60 games, and only have 10 wins. I can do massive damage, or kills, and still end with a loss. That's why many good players left the game about 6-7 years ago.

    I cannot stand +2/-2 MM. To me playing a tier 8 vs tier 10 or tier 7 against tier 9 is flat out dumb. I don't want a game where I can't even scratch half the enemy tanks regardless how skilled I am. You may like it, but I think it is terrible game design.

      Nah QB is right on this. You can hurt 90% of +2 tanks in most tanks, what are you talking about? Seems like a skill issue. It is so satisfying to destroy higher tier opponents. I still remember when enemy TS-5 was blowing through our tier 6 team, just for me to pop over the hill to the side of him in my Excalibur, track, track, track, track, track.... until dead. Got him for 1000 damage XD

      Platoon of full gold Chieftains(majority of which are gold spamming stat padders anyway) in any T8 tank on any ridge line map, even with full arty support :)

    I think +1/-1 Matchmaking would make more sense for the regular queue. Where you can't rely on your team to do the correct moves every time if at all. You get those tougher tanks if you are low tier or squishy tanks if your high tier.
    Regardless, we need more maps more than anything. It's been the same maps for years with changes here and there. I think it's insane this game has had the same 40 maps since the HD update.

      I would also give preff mm to tier 7 tanks. Most of the tanks there are extremly weak and the differetn between tier 7 and 8 are the biggest. Whata poor IS or tiger I can do against a bz 176 for example?? tier 7 tanks mostly free dmg in higher tier. Also wg should add PvE mode .

    I have been saying for years that the matchmaker should be +1 -1. Not +2 -2. Tons of times you feel useless when you are bottom tier. But once you get to tier 6, the matchmaker gets worse. There is one simple reason for this. Wargaming just keep pushing out tons of Premium Tanks at tier 8. That is why there are far too many tier 8 tanks in the matchmaker queue. Hell, Wargaming had to invent the Frontline game mode to take tier 8 tanks out of the matchmaker.

      Yea I agree with +-1. There's no reason not to try this. On reddit, a WoT community manager/feedback collector kept talking about how queue times would increase and people would complain. I just don't see that happening, at least on the major NA and EU servers.

Or maybe you are some sick sadist that loves playing some crappy stock tank when you are bottom tier? The +2 -2 matchmaker would have been fine at higher tiers, if Wargaming hadn't flooded the game with tier 8 premium tanks. But we all know Wargaming are more interested in profit over game balance.

      If you checked the matchmaking graph for the ASIA server, the graphs for tiers 7 to 9 are drastically different. Tier 7 had no battles meeting tier 9s, tier 9s mostly are at the top +1 (i.e., the teams are composed of tier 8s and tier 9s). +/-2MMs are rare for tiers 4-6.
      ASIA had made some MM changes years ago: tier 6s never meet the likes of BZ-176 or other tier 8s, nor tier 7s meet tier 9s and vice versa. The MM either makes same-tier games or mostly +/-1MM teams. +/-2 mostly exists for tier 4s and tier 8s if there are few players online, while pretty much super rare for other tiers

    Been saying that the maps are the problem for ages now. What's needed is a dynamic map spawning system where the maps are subtly different each time they load. That would reward map reading players and negate the spot campers who go to the same places every time

      spot on, what I hate MOST, is that everyone know where the other team will be, making it so dull and stupid for me, if we did not know these, if there were dynamic spawns, or any other mechanic, I would be still playing. I mean there is many issues, but this one is the biggest one for me

      Just create a variety of subtlety different iterations for each grid square and then select at random for each grid. So you have A-k and 1-0. That gives you (11 x 10)^5.

      Exactly. Been saying the same for over a decade. But the ‘pros’ rely on knowing maps and maps take a lot of WoT resources to create while remaining balanced. They have dozens that have never been used or have been tossed in the bin. That we never see…

    Like, I'd actually agree with your take... IF THE GAME HAD A WORKING BALANCING DEPARTMENT. I actually really enjoy tier 7 when I'm not matched against the BZs and Bourrasques of the world, but as you showed, you are just constantly matched against those. And while you can avoid the hopeless situations where your tank contributes almost nothing in tanks like the Cromwell, you are completely useless in slow, low pen heavies when you're in a bottom tier matchup. Like, not even "less helpful", but actively useless. Remember when the Defender came out? Well, now EVERYTHING they release in tier 8 feels like that for the bottom tier tanks. And for as long as they want to continue ignoring their imbalanced premiums, I will oppose WG keeping multi tier MM.
    Finally, though, I want to point out that there are other factors that greatly decrease the fun I have in 3 tier mm. One is that the maps really suck for the purpose of flanking, which could help to offset a weaker tank. But half of the maps are literal corridors where playing second line is almost impossible. Another problem is that when you couple +-2 with a lack of skill based mm, you create situations where you sit in your bottom tier tank and get to watch your strawberry top tiers get annihilated by enemy top tiers that are capable - with NOTHING you can do about that.

    frankly I’ve tried to get back into the game several times in the past 8 or so years but every time I just can’t be bothered to learn the thousand new systems and overhauled mechanics, plus new maps and new tanks, and then throw on top of that the change from weakspot gameplay to “just load gold lol” gameplay making all my favorite old heavies next to useless… there’s no point lol

      new maps? Lol I wish WG would actually care about that. the way it is now, it is like 1 new map per year. Really dumb move by WG to not introduce new maps more regularly, cos that would be one easy way to keep the variety of the game alive.

      yup, my IS-6, my all time most played (when i played regularly 7 or so years ago) is now next to useless. just end up feeling like a cash pig as you nearly have to buy the next big tank in order to stand a chance esp at tier 8.

    Some very good points, thanks. But one you did not mention, and this is my subjective pov (and other players below have mentioned) is map choice. In the early days of the game, there were different maps, and many of the existing maps were more "raw". Larger maps such as (and now I'm struggling to remember the names correctly) such as Northwest, South Coast and Swamp were, at least to me, hugely influential in learning how to play. Plus, as the maps were larger, and generally more complex, there were far more possible game strategies which was very interesting. Today, a lot of the maps, as you also mentioned, channel players into predicted positions and roles; this doesn't make for a better game overall.

      Have to agree with you about the maps. I mean. When you have so many maps yet you play just 5 out of all of the maps over and over again. You get tired of the game. There's no reason for you to play the same map twice in less than an hour.

    Two big reasons. OP premiums the devs refuse to nerf like the BZ-176 and constantly fighting Teir 10s as an 8. Or 8s as a 6.
    MM should be +/- 1, not 2.

Also, there are literally lines in their agreement, that they can change content you paid real money for. They are just scared to lose profits, but I feel like they are loosing more in the long run, by keeping game in non healthy state

    The lack of variety comes with the power creep pushing people into the same overpowered vehicles.
    It also comes with the dumbed down map design where you're pushed into the same corridor as everyone else.
    The matchmaking has not so much to do with it, but also you've had your best results on tier VII in special matchmaking tanks, E25 and Panther/M10.
    Which just proves that +1/-1 mm is best.

    I wonder why in other games, staff can make rebalance patches every two weeks or every month, and in WoT there is one rebalance per 5 years

      "Because wargaming is just a small indie studio" /s Nah but it's crazy that they can't do more than 2 balance patches a year. If they did 1 every month they could do small changes and see what difference they make. This way they can better fine tune the tanks. Now they do 1 big nerf/buff patch and if they get it wrong and over buff/nerd a tank it won't get corrected until at best next year, or worse never.

    Bigger maps, +1 -1 MM, MM based on PR, move spawn points randomly from time to time
    Patton the Tank didn’t help much either

    As a new player, playing against people with over 50k matches is so annoying. We need a noobie matchmaker for players that have less than 2k battles. I stand no chance against these players in a brawl.

      Yes, because there are not enough new players base, because WOT has no incentives that would let new players enjoy the lower tier games.

      If it makes you feel better, whenever I returned after a few years there were so many things that changed it made it feel like I was so behind. I couldn't just drop into my old favourites and play, now everyone has 6 skill crews and bounty equipment! That's if my favourites haven't been been nerfed or straight up outclassed by newer additions.
      But yes, simply not enough new players are joining to make it easy. Part of the issue is the game literally caters to a whale player base with those auctions and events based around super high purchase prices.

      You're seeing it quite wrong. You should be happy to see those guys. Its from them you learn the game. When i was a noobie battling noobs, nobody was sidescraping when all of a sudden someone with experience came along. I learned that from him. it might feel like a struggle, but learn from them and steal their tactics. You wont get good battling noobs.

    The worst part of the matchmaker is the lack of taking into account player skill. Using WN8 (I know, not perfect, but it's a metric), I went and looked at every player in a 0-15 blowout I was a part of a few weeks ago. The winning side had 10 players with a higher WN8 than the player with the highest WN8 on the losing team. This is the quickest way I can think of to lose new players, and it's the single most frustrating part of the game for me. Games like this are decided in the first 2-3 minutes, which is not any fun for players on either side.

      Fixing this is easy. No skill based match making required, as QB understands and uses this term. WG can simply transfer some of the players with high rating to the other team and vice versa. The battle will be more balanced.

    To be fair when ever the power creep started everything went down hill. The real golden days were USA, Soviet, German with only max tier 9 td, tier 8 arty etc. Gold was actually gold and you actually needed to know how to aim and play the game.

      thats sadly very true, i started WoT in 2013 where there where already T10 tanks but lights would have a +4MM and gold rounds cost actual gold... ive almoste never been shot by gold rounds during that time... nowadays people go gold only and kill every last bit of balance the game might still have left... the HE nerfs are another example of this, since HE doesnt explode anymore you see even more gold only players... all for a quick buck in WGs pocket...

      The patch that added tier X tds was in July 2012. This is such a boomer-like comment its unreal. The game obviously needed to grow beyond that and you know it. If it had stayed the same as 2011 it would have died very quickly.

When they shifted to credits for 'gold' rounds and started designing all of their top tier vehicles to be effectively immune to standard rounds the game just went downhill in play quality. I've got vehicles now that I don't even bother loading standard rounds at all... it's pointless.

    +2-2 is pure cancer, and when they removed +3-3 they should've left it at same tier battles. It's neither balanced, nor funny, to play any tier from 4 to 8 (doesn't matter if you are a lt, med or ht) and having in front of you between 7 and 10 tanks that are simply better than yours, be it vision and camo, alpha/dpm and/or armor.
    With same tier battles tanks could and should be balanced to play against same tier tanks, not being able to hurt 2 tiers above and completely destroy 2 tiers below. That's part of the problem there was with HE based tanks and the nerfs that followed that left most of the derp cannons and SPG completely wrecked. Playing a tier 4 and being one shotted by a kv2 is not fun. Same with a tier 8 being oneshot by a fv4005 (even in tier 10 that happens).
    I don't want to play my skoda t 25 against guards, cs-52 and a bunch of tier 7s which have almost if not more than double hp, alpha and better vision, or my vk 100 01p against is4, maus... That's like playing CS with only being able to buy up to a desert eagle against players with awp/ak/m16
    The best games I have are against equal tier tanks, not counting the few games I'm top tier against 2 tiers below. There are talks about tier 3 and 4 being full of seal clubbers, but a tier 10 against tier 8s is seal clubbing as much as a pz b2 against tier 3s

      I think +/- 2 is the culprit of why people rush toward higher tiers - they don't want to play tanks that can be severely outmatched in the worst case matchup. WG destroyed derps with this stupid HE mechanic (they could could annihilate -2 tier tanks, that's true), but at the same time they gave nothing that could stand its ground in a +2 matchup. Every new mechanic is pretty much exclusive to tiers 8-10 so why even bother with lower tiers? There's really no point of leaving lower tier vehicles in the garage after grinding through them, because they're all almost the same, there's just no fun to be had down there most of the time, and this further ruins lower tier playerbase.
      But I think such situation is good for WG as a company, they sell more higher tier premiums (which are more expensive), running costs of higher tier tanks are much higher (so they sell more premium time) and making the game "pay 2 play noticeably better or die grinding credits" further boosts their sales.

    Gold spamming everywhere. Even T10 firing at T8, its crazy. No need to aim just dabbing the 2-key and firing at the tank. I know, that's where WG get it's money but it's annoying

      well, "gold spamming" is not a magic solution to be a better player. "gold" (the more expensive rounds) are not always best in all situations. You should check out what each shell type does. In many situations (depending on tanks, too) AP is the way to go if shooting near tracks, through walls, and in some tanks for long range (as the velocity in many tanks is far greater on standard shells). Premium shells are pretty much guaranteed to be always the best in short distance when you're facing the front of the tank you're shooting. But many times the fights have different engagements than front to front brawling. So if you're not using premium ammo, try not to go face to face with a stronger opponent. Play more like a scavenger and you'll do great.

Especially where the "armored" tanks are just spitballing at one another until somewhere down the line a cascading effect of a breakthrough happens. But most of it just comes down to "must bypass armor"

    OK, let me address the negatives:
    Stacked flanks - happens even now. 15-3 in 3 minutes is real.
    No tanks to support - if you are stock, you can support. If you are lightly armored, you can support. When you are low tier, you have to support. When you are stock low tier, you are screwed. T-44 with the 85mm gun (144 pen) can barely pen tier 8, forget about tier 10.
    Map awareness - it's tier/MM independent, it's a player skill. If you have a better map awareness, you will see where to go, move there and take advantage of it. And since you are against same tier, you will most likely have the tools (pen, DPM) to have influence.
    Variety - I will address tank variety since game modes and maps would still be the same in equal MM. Some tanks are rarely played anyway. A lot of players play certain vehicles because of Battle Pass (be careful, TVP is the most popular T10 medium now) and Top of the Tree (maybe not so much after the nerf). So the variety isn't amazing anyway. But you are correct - the tanks would be less varied. I will gladly trade that away to not meet BZ-176 in my tier 6 (KV-2 will suffice, thank you).
    Less hero moments for casuals - I will gladly trade that away to not meet BZ-176 in my tier 6 (KV-2 will suffice, thank you). I can even argue that since we are all the same tier, I will have more hero moments because now I can actually influence the battle more because I have better tools than when I'm 2 tiers lower. Granted, it wouldn't be awesome David vs Goliath moment, but you also wouldn't be powerless in some scenarios.
    Terrible players getting carried - We will find a way to get carried anyway, don't worry. On the other hand, we wouldn't have to be carried that often because we could play against equal tier instead of struggling in -2 MM. And when we are finally top tier, we cannot take advantage of that anyway so our team is effectively down one top tier tank.
    Checkers - You basically repeat your previous points. Same tanks are going to the same position anyway. You play the game a lot, so variety is a huge factor for you and I can understand that. I play casually with friends for couple of hours after work. I wouldn't notice any lack of variety.
    My suggestion? WG should try same tier MM. Create a special mode for that, put it in the arcade cabinet, whatever. Maybe players will hate it, maybe they will like it. Maybe there will be completely different problems that will make it horrible

    If the matchmaker did 1 teir difference we would have more balanced games. As well as it wouldn't increase matchmaking time too much while still keeping varying tanks in the battles

      @@imma5761 low tier heavies are useless: your armor doesn't matter, you tend to be less mobile then top tier heavies, you have no viewrange, no pen, no dpm etc.

    the biggest reason people stop playing is the bad mm between players.
    one team has red or orange players, and the other team has all yellow and green players, so you get the 2 to 3 minute battles.

      Yes. Balancing this is very easy. WG can easily shift a few of those players between teams by taking into account the specific win rates in the tanks they have been put in the match (when not available, take the overall win rate of the player).

      WOT killed MM faireness 7 years ago because the maps used to have more open spaces and firing lanes so "better players" would be shot a few times if they just blindly went forward. All the maps now ALLOW easy moving forward to safe locations which results in fast games and gun dispersion buff back made guns too accurate. Game was better when 50% of shots were in the middle circle and the rest in the outer.

    1-5 last night. And 4 of the 5 losses were nearly a 15-0 loss. They have to figure out a skill based MM so the matches are more even. I work a lot of hours, so when I have an hour or two I actually want to enjoy the matches and not be rolled over every match.
    I wish I didn't have as much invested in this game as I do. I've been playing since BETA and I'm pretty done with the game

      About the same message from me. I have played since beta too, but the amount of games is like inverse exponential curve. It does not encourage playing when every time you feel more miserable after you played than when started. Way too many 15-0, 1, 2, 3 matches. Way too many op tanks without weakpoints. Maybe I have fallen out of the meta even more than I used to as I play mostly weak armored lights and mediums with occasional td's and some of the meds I have loose to new hevies in mobility, firepower and armor.

      considering any new games? I switched away from WoT a while ago to LoL even though I had spent 100s on WoT and I would recommend the switch if you are incredibly bored of WoT. Game isn't pay to win, teams are more balanced, ofc has negative aspects but if you are play for fun then it is much better.

      Yeah I've been experiencing this as well. A lot of games it just feels like there's nothing you can do to change the tide of the battle. For example when 5 tanks die in the first few minutes and enemies take the entire flank

    Simple solution to bring players back:
    1. Fix MM (+1/-1 only)
    2. Limit gold rounds to no more than 10% of total ammo capacity
    3. Skill based MM
    4. Give the different types of tanks exp based on their role that way they are special. Not all the same

      Limiting gold rounds would be a bad idea though, it would just majorly buff all heavily armoured tanks which are already the most dominant class of tanks atm. You would also be nerfing a whole bunch of tanks that rely on penetration to stay relevant in some situations. Gold rounds are not the issue in itself, they are more an issue created by other things that are problematic within the game, which in turn forces people to gold spam to perform well.

    The broken OP premium tank like Skoda T-56, Bourrasque, Progetto 46, BZ-176 are the reason people quiting the game not to mention the fun times I play WoT where Team damage exist, MT-25 with is 47 auto cannon, all chat, old HE mechanics, failed platoon taking a Pz 1c into tier 10 and start blasting Waffle Panzer 4, not to mention climbing hard to reach maps without any invisible walls blocking it *sigh* good times

    i just used my 703. charged up a double shot. 25m away from the broadside of a 252u who wasnt paying attention. aimed straight at the flat side of it's flat hull. anyone with a functional brain knows that the mathematics would assume a penetration. both shots ended up being zero damage.
    then at the same time, a JPE100 shot my Maus the other day flat on with a heat shell and didnt penetrate me, yet i snap shotted him and it went right through lmao
    I think one reason why WoT is unenjoyable is because of the outright braindead "autoloss RNG" that people get force on them that requires less than minimal skill
    and yes, i am a 3500 WN8 player so i am competent enough to aim at a flat side.

    A big advantage of same tier mm is that there is less pressure to pick a competitive tank. If im top tier in my beloved t34 and im matched against a bz my pick is a big detriment to my team. If everyone is tier 8, odds are more tanks will be able to compensate the weaknesses of my tanks and have strengths to deal with op tanks (like a skoda t56 or another bz).

    I'm someone who started playing in early 2020 after my brother recommended me the game. I had a good amount of enjoyment from playing, even after things slowed down and I had to grind. It was easier for me to excuse the MM since I was new so there isn't any good way to do it. However over time I feel like as I got better and further into the game I noticed how awful the MM really was. It was the biggest thing that kept me from wanting to grind through tier 9 since I would either be given games where I was fighting tier 10s and would get destroyed because I still sucked, or I was fighting tier 8 and tier 7, which put pressure on me that I could not handle as a new player. Stress can be fine in games sometimes, but here where the whole team is relying on you knowing what to do on every map, against ever tank, its too much. Doesn't help that there's always that one guy in every game that yells at everyone. It just makes me want to log off.
    Then there is the issue of premium tanks, originally when I started playing I assumed I was just being bad when I would die to a lefh for the millionth time. That people were just happening to play the best artillery a lot but it wasn't overpowered, and my death was my mistake still. Once again however, longer I played, realized how overpowered the tank was. Similar stuff happened with other tanks. Eventually my breaking point was the BZ-176, every game had one, and with the tanks I had, I could not fight it. Even with my tier 9s I still had no chance. I thought maybe to just wait, maybe the tank is so good that they will be forced to do something about it. As I looked at veterans to the game however, they all shared the sentiment it would never be rebalanced.
    The game just isn't fun to play when the the "variety" that a MM should be giving me is just still a BZ-176 every game. When it comes to tier 8. Cant play light tank without spending months of my life researching every damn map, can't play medium because if the BZ is where I end up going I can't play. Can't play heavy tank because a majority of the fights had a BZ, TD is okay but I still can't kill the BZ so my team still loses. And I as a principle decided to never play artillery because it seemed boring. If I'm being honest now however, I might as well just play arty since its the only fun I could probably have, alongside maybe td. I was forced to camp so much more. To stay in bushes, because if I ever brawled I would be squished like a bug. Hell, the BZ isn't even the only tier 8 premium that is overpowered, but its the most annoying one.
    My brother still asks me if I am going to start playing again, but I don't think he understands just how much I did not enjoy the game. Like the most fun I had in the game was when I was playing just the KV-2, then they changed HE so now I can't even have fun there.

    Everything started going downhill when the 0.8.6 dispersion buffs were partially reverted in 0.9.6. Then it really went downhill fast after the Defender was added. I stopped playing regularly at version 1.0 because the map reworks were just outrageously bad.

    On NA I hate when you get on a team as top player with a 6000 rating and bottom guy has 2000 rating, then enemy team bottom guy has 5000 rating and top guys are at 7000+ ratings.

      Yup, im a 7800wtr (in game) with 1800 avg damage, 870 avg experience yet i have a 48% winrate. I played about 20 games last night and had a 9300wtr rating for the night with a 15% winrate....

    I started this game in the North American region at the end of September 2012 and later moved to the Asian region. In the past, the standard strategy for maps was to utilise concealment and exploit weak spots in the opponent's line-up. However, recent map changes have created many pseudo-urban maps, where light tanks have no place. The example is Mountain Path.
    Players find sniping spots to entertain heavy tanks, but they are quickly eliminated, and there are so many company-oriented vehicle adjustments that it's normal to feel that it's not fun anymore.
    There may be no way to save the game from this.

    for me the issue is that most of the Tier 8 or 10 tanks are fully equipped with bond/improved equipment and just maximazing all bonusses.
    considere the incredibly stupid step up from tier 6 vs tier 8 (with a lot of borderline overpowered tier 8's often fully packed with the best equipment) it really does make tier 6/7 the single least enjoyable tier in the game i find.
    especially for new players as tier 6 usually makes it invested into a single line of tanks. i dont see how new players will continue playing a game where they constantly put you at a disadvantage all while your grind is getting longer and longer.
    matchmaking in general needs a whole overhaul i think. i wouldnt know in what sense, but 50% of the battles at tier 6/7 make you really feel like you are just drivable xp for other tanks to shoot at while you need to fire premium only to have a slight chance to pen a weakpoint if you're lucky enough to hit it with your 90% crew.

      give tier 6 and 7 access to the same Field mods as Tier 8 but the extra ones are active based on what tier battle you have. Further give Tier 6&7 Lts. a special Equip slot that they can equip CVS and another piece but the CVS is only available if they are in a Tier 8 or 9 match. Really tired of being thrown into Tier 8&9 matches in my lower tier LT and being dis-advantaged from the start because I am prohibited from using a specific piece of scouting equipment.

    The map changes in 2022 and 2023 nerfed all the long range td locations. As a main td player, this nerf is horrible.

    Couldn't disagree more about same tier matches. Biggest problem for the game is the actual MATCHMAKING, 4 minute battles STINK and only benefit WG, not the players. Have the actual MM make 2 nearly equal sides and the game will be much more pleasurable!

      People keep making this mistake, MM isn't the reason games are taking less time. Games used to be longer even though the MM hasn't changed much. The reason of faster battles is alpha/burst/mobility/vision creep without HP pools increasing to compensate. You make any kind of mistake and there is a fair chance your game is over, much more of the time. Multiply that by 15 vehicles then you can see how the snowball effect gets going faster. Remember there used to be bigger spread MM than +-2.

      @@cardinalmite9183 Respectfully disagree. Just playing tonite for 75 mins, I have been in battles that ended 15-0, 14-2, 3-15. MM placed multiple 43% players on one team, instead of spreading them out over both teams. One team NEVER had a chance: that poor MM lead to shorter battles!

MM should ignore win rates, because won rate % is too easily padded l, people may have a good overall because they spam Pz 5/4 or similar. It is a trap to think SBMM is the answer.

    My favorite games are the games with same tier matches, I think same tier is more balanced and is more fun because it feels more fair.
    I don’t enjoy murdering poor -2 tier players and I absolutely abhor feeling completely useless when I am the lower tier vehicle.
    I think that the repetitive nature of same tier matchmaking allows players to focus on their own personal improvement as a player. It makes the game feel more competitive, which is what I enjoy in world of tanks.
    I never considered that players would want to be bottom tier, so your video was quite interesting.

    Since 2022 it was ruined, I sold all my tanks and deleted my account and my life improved a lot, post data the game lost 70% of new and veteran players now it only has those left who have been in the game for 10 years

    Hi Quicky, i get some of your points in favor of the three tier matchmaking, but some others (at least that’s how i see it) are correct for you, but not for 85+% of your viewers. You are a super unicum, of course you’ll get your heavies working even when you play minus two tier battles. That’s why you packing ~70% winrate. To me with my ~50.5% in by far the most battles that isn’t the case, ESPECIALLY NOT in tanks who relies on their armor. I downright hate the template with three tiers. For me personally it would be a good change if there only were battles with +1 OR -1.

    Unbalanced tanks, bad matchmaking, incredibly bad maps, no new maps, too much powercreep, greediness of wg to do more and more real money events and the 3 minutes 2:15 matches are the reason I'm not putting any cent into this game anymore for multiple years. They make the game worse and worse, but simultaneously want more and more money from me. Nah, thats not how it works, sorry Wargaming.
    Btw: We have 40 maps? Thats a lot. Somehow it feels like 7😂

    So many times I can do my tank HP and then some, and still lose the game when most of the team does zero damage, very demoralizing to do your part only for your teammates to not even contribute.

    For me my biggest problem with wot is :
    -+2-2 MM, its a relic of the past, there are enough diversity of tanks to now have a +1-1 MM still end up with enough different tanks.
    -The matchmaking for now has no way to tell the difference between a support heavy and a breaktrought Heavy, which is problematic sometimes ( exmp : 50B Vs Maus )
    -The lack of TD limit, it is absurd to end up in a match where 75% of the tanks are tank destroyers and turn the match into a absolute slug , and making a single move forward punishable by almost instant death.
    -broken premium tanks, please wargaming, you have to change something with the way you sell them, you cannot continue with not nerfing premiums tanks because of legal reasons. find a way, people aren't going to stop buying premiums because they are not insanely OP.
    -There should be a gold limit, like 10-15% of your max ammo capacity to prevent and limit premium account players dunking on F2P because they have more credits to put into gold rounds.
    If you did this, the game would already become so better and keep a lo of new playesr and old timers alike

    One more thing to add is when you enter a battle, everyone goes one way and leaves the other flank wide open. Ive seen this many times and its 13 tanks go one way and 2 either camp at the base or go the other way and completely lose the flank because they got outnumbered. The players nowadays are very stupid and can't read map and have hardly any situational awareness.

      ​@@arif11011Happens on EU relatively often, they go one side, 12/13 tanks and they die from 4-5 enemy tanks and 2/1 arties. It's almost as if there should be an IQ test for this game, most players play solo and not like a team.

    This is also what made me quit clan wars: for about 2 years the meta was a full team of chieftains with some EBRS and a 297e every once in a while. Every game was the same, every strategy was figured out and competitive turned into a borig slug where its just a brawl of 15 tanks trying to get 100% pen rate. (bit of an exaggeration but still). there basically was no variety for years.
    Same thing (but less extreme) is the case in the matchmaker now: you always see the same tanks in the same positions and end up in the same situations.

    Games are just getting too fast. Too many fast tanks lead to more suiciding light tank players, more importance to getting the most fast mediums into the best positions, and ultimately more 15-1, 15-3 games.
    Also the game as a whole is too fast. Players used to take hundreds of games to get up the tiers. Now, with WG throwing x5 missions at everyone, plyers get to tier 8 and 10 way too quickly - without having learned the basics on maps, mechanics and tanks.
    Again leading to more 15-1, 15-3 games.
    Ofcourse OP tanks are a pain to deal with, but its not the worst if the team could just survive for 5 bloody minutes in the games!
    3 minute games make me want to quit again.

      Yup I totally agree. The last two days has been exactly as you describe, 15-3ish games, half the teams seem to be suicidal lights so there seems to be no actual tactics, just light tank/fast tank zergs who swarm around you like mosquitos…. Not been fun at all and I’m a new player so still in era 1 but don’t think I’ll be sticking around if this is what the future holds.

    Remove RNG or reduce RNG to +/-10%.
    Remove arty.
    Make the game play of your tank true to the stats. no ghost shells or wildly missed shots.
    Remove gold rounds and buff standard ammo or remove standard and nerf gold pen.
    Put op tanks 1 tier higher.
    Remove arty.
    Remove map pools and let any map be played at any time.

    Bring back the old maps, that was the biggest downfall of World of Tanks. It was more fun to play in these maps than to play on the maps that are always being redone to play something new. World of Tanks will never be the same again without those maps we all started playing with. It was a big decline, but it could be worse. 😔😢

    I quit the game 2 months ago and the reason I quit is that I was playing tier 8 tanks and I was facing tier 10 tanks. I love playing tier 8 games and I usually play heavy tanks, but when a tier 10 heavy tank comes in front of me, the fun of the game is completely over.
    If the opposing player has the same skill as me, it's impossible to get an advantage. With a tier 8 heavy tank, even if I use gold ammo, it is impossible to penetrate tanks like E-100, 705A, IS-4, AMX 54, S Conq, etc. I can only penetrate the lower hull, but tanks like IS-4, IS-7, E-100 or 705A cannot be penetrated even from the lower hull when used at the right angle. Even if I use gold ammo, I can't penetrate the opponent's tank anywhere! I need to get to the side or behind the opponent to penetrate the tank, but this is not a 1v1 game, there are 14 other enemy tanks on the side and behind the opponent.
    What about the opponent? Let's say the opponent has a 705A and I have an Object 703 II, my tank has good turret armor and cannot be easily penetrated by most tier 8s, but what happens when my opponent is tier 10? Of course the opponent can easily penetrate my tank's turret.
    In other words, the opponent can penetrate my tank from the point where my tank has the thickest armor, while I cannot penetrate the opponent tank from the point where its armor is the weakest (lower hull).
    If anyone thinks that this situation can be solved by playing better, then give me a tank with 10k health and 5k DPM, if you play well, of course you can beat me :)

      I have played around 100 games in my E100 and have seen tier 8 tanks in maybe 5. Be happy you are making a poor E100s day by bouncing off him. Unless the e100 sits in the same 45 degree angled position with a hidden lower plate they get penned. You want to aim at someone to attempt to do damage with its awful gun (if your not a gold spammer) then you can expect loose at least a third of your health.

      @@Nathan_Whaley-g8m I agree with what you said, the probability of matching with tier 8s when playing tier 10 tanks is like 10%, but that's not the point, the point is the probability of matching with tier 10 tanks when playing tier 8 tanks, which was over 40% for me.
      Secondly, the optimum angle of the E-100 is 30 degrees, not 45. If you use the E-100 at 45 degrees, you will be penetrated even with 230mm penetration, which is an average penetration value for tier 8, not even gold. If you use the E-100 at 30 degrees as I said, the weakest point of your armor will be 275mm, and even if your opponent is using the Object 703 II, one of the best tier 8 heavy tanks, you will not be penetrated anywhere, including your lower hull armor, even if your opponent uses gold ammo. Also, since the E-100's turret has 300mm armor, even if you use the turret at a 0 degree angle, that is, even when aiming at the opponent, your opponent has no chance of penetrating your turret. There is a weak point at the top of the E-100's turret, but since the E-100 is a very high tank, there is no chance of your opponent hitting your weak point. So if you use the E-100 correctly, even if your turret is at 0 degrees, even if the lower hull of your tank is exposed, it is almost impossible for the Object 703 II (one of the best tier 8 heavy tanks) to pierce you, even if it uses gold ammo.

      No but seriously, I agree to a high extend of what you say and would like to throw in also the idiot nonsensical RNG that makes shells fly off into nowhere after you carefully and patiently aimed, or you don't pen because it's -25% value just so happened to be too low for the effective armor then. All instances that you can't influence at the time they happen.
      You wanna know what my most fun experiences have been? JPZ E100 because you can play around with threatening a nuclear blast at your opponent but also nearly always have to expose a weakspot so people dare sometimes.
      Or Object 268/5 or grille or such thing because also that one can slap you silly, but can be penned anywhere so you want to be a bit of a trickster.
      And since the enemy actually CAN do something against you, you actually have some engagements rather than the nonsensical hulldown rickety tenniscourt deathstare "tactics"
      The most bonkers thing I've experienced resently was aboslutely clapping a poor T26E5 in my Foch B.... caught the poor guy exposed... Yes, I did what most everyone would do... look at the target as a juicy steak... but if I was in the T26E5... that was a bad experience.

    More maps, bigger maps so wheeled lights can’t run the entire map in under 1 min., night time games where vision is reduced, but firing your gun gives your position away, due to muzzle flash. More even match making from players ability, not only tank teir.

      Its skill problem, not tier problem.
      Give bad player prenerfed chieftain in - 2 mmand he will still do at most 3 to 4 shots
      There will be even bigger snowballs than before if you reduce tiers because AT LEAST good players can end in +2 mm so they cant be crazy impactful as if they had only +1 mm.
      But wn8 based mm where both teams have equal number of bad players and good players will make it more enjoyable

    On thing that might be missing, if you are low tier on a map, and dmg/kill a 2 tier higher, you get 2 to 3 amount of ex compared to same tier. And less ex if you kill a lower tier

    Gold spam, +2mm, arty, Russian bias, Lootboxes, bad map design and op premiums like the BZ. This nonsense about same tier mm is only a complaint by unicums who don't play stock tanks and have to use a stock IS against a type and nest watch your s*** get pushed in because there's nothing you can do. No qb this is one area you're put of touch/wrong about. +2 mm is only an underdog vs top tier fight if you got premium consumables, good equipment and crew, bond equipment even and so on. When you're bigdik575 in his stock t44 against a gold slinging object 140, you see the disparity. I've been playing wot for over a decade and I can tell you plus 2 mm is absolutely one of the reasons I haven't played this game in months along side gold slinging.

    The game for me took the biggest downturn when tier 9 and 10 Light tanks were added, as well as the SPG's. That feeling of getting into a match in your 10 shot autoloading Bulldog against tiers several higher than yourself was awesome, because you knew you always had a chance. The autoloading SPIC was awesome back then, as was the ELC, very dynamic games with loads of variety. Sure it was often ridiculously hard if you were bottom tier, but that was the challenge for the advanced player. The wide tier spread made all tiers fun to play in.

    Coming back to World of Tanks after being away for about four years, I was excited to jump back into the action with my favorite tank, the STB-1. However, I quickly noticed that not much had changed, and the game felt kind of dull and repetitive.
    One of the big problems I ran into was how hard it was to unlock new tanks. Unless you want to spend money on a premium account or grind for hours and hours every day, getting new tanks feels almost impossible.
    Plus, there hasn't been a lot of new stuff added to the game since I last played. It's kind of disappointing to come back after so long and not see any cool new features or updates.
    Overall, my return to World of Tanks left me feeling pretty let down. Even though I still have good memories of playing the game, the lack of excitement and the frustrating progression system made it hard to enjoy.

    I’m a super uni, day 0 player on the NA server. I took a break from the game for a few years, and returned 6 months ago - biggest waste of my time, removed the game yesterday. 3 LTs per game seems to be default, prok and mali seem to be impossible to get, introducing things like CVS, etc, etc. I play my manti, jacked crew, and I get outspotted by meds…when stationary. Playing 8s/10s is a joke, considering there’s no reason to not play tanks that aren’t broken, but there’s 0 fun in that. They continue to introduce the goofiest tanks…rocket boosters??? What. End rant 🤣. I’ll keep watching your content for the nostalgia, but the game is a garbage pile of what it once was.

      Rocket boosters are good on paper, with the tier 9 BZ-68 you will get set on fire when your lower plate gets penetrated so often you'll think the game just hates the tank, and you can even properly defend yourself because gun handling is really derpy.

      your right, one last thing i played over 1000 game's at tier 6 and this is what i found, mm work's like this...70% of your game's will be down 1 or 2 tier's, 19.22 will be your tier or one up, with only a 0.78 chance to be two tier's up, and if you lose then it will be the same, this formula kick's in when you reach a certain point something like 50% win rate. @@dobridjordje

    This week i had in my teams only 40-45% winrate players, playing from tier 8 to tier 10. I had really bad experience which made me to uninstall this game. This happens to me everytime when we have battlepass event 😢 i'm not very good, not very bad, have about 55% winrate in 30k battles, but boy - some players are so so bad.... i will gladly take 1-2 months break 😊

      @arif11011 yes, the fact that "free" tier 9 tanks are available in battlepass makes all terrible players came back to this game. You never saw terrible players with AE Phase I or Char Futur for example in randoms? I get plenty of those in matchmaking. And is not just this... there are other free rewards which makes people come to play, even though they are terrible.

    I really enjoy playing Tier IV and V again. They made it so inrelevant, since they didn't include them in the Battle pass and almost all the time a battle pass is ongoing, so I never played it any more.

    For me, the tiers I enjoy playing the most are Tier 3 - Tier 6. I've reached a point where these are the tiers where there is nothing exceptional between them except for some tanks that stand out for having a better quality. But that doesn't take away the fact that the MM is still broken and when I do 20 battles in a day, 10 are losses. I hate the "auto-balancing" of the game.

    The match maker is my biggest and main problem. I hate +2/-2 and I hate being stuck on teams with Neanderthals. I'm an upward moving player, I shouldn't be stuck on teams with 40% players all the time and that's the second problem. The player base is amazingly lazy, unaware, and unwilling to get better or adapt to mistakes. It's worse then World of Warships.
    Add in dumb stuff like allowing rentals in Onslaught and hard to get premium tanks comping out every three months.

      The flip side is that skill based matchmaking ensures you're never facing those potato players on the enemy team. It seems like a good solution until you actually try it and realise your own mistakes also get punished much harder when everyone in the match is just as good as you. Having that variation in skill allows better players to take advantage more often then not, but of course you'll end up with some situations where your team is impossible to compensate for.

      You do 2 shots of damage as tier 10 in - 2 or in tier 8 in +2

      @@MrRedRye I'm okay with forced evolution. I just hate being on teams where just being awake is a problem for half the rosters.
      I finish at the top of the scorecard in a loss and see that the bottom five or six players have a combined total of ten rounds fired..... I'm just going to quit the game. I'm still having fun but I want better games and NA simply doesn't have the player base for it.

    Can someone explain to me why, as far as I understand it, the spotting skill seems to be broken? I don't how many times I have been hit when I never was, seemingly, spottet. And I'm not talking about lucky shots, where players take shots at locations where they think players might be, but random places. I don't get any warning.
    Am I missing something here or is it broken, or other players are cheating?

    I completely disagree. This is a completely subjective opinion from a Unicum who has completely different expectations of the game than a noob like me.
    What's wrong with more fairness when all players have a chance. Why shouldn't there be team play when everyone has a chance? We're just not used to it because high tier tanks, reward tanks or Unicums always control the game. I can well understand that a Unicum finds it particularly attractive to win as a low tier, but as a noob you don't have the map and tank knowledge and can't get into the game as a low tier.
    If you play the same game for 12 years you have to find a challenge, but as a noob you have different problems. Plus-Two-Tier matchmaking only satisfies the expectations of good players. Someone has lost touch with the base, noobs don't usually play for 6 hours every day ;-)

    I miss being able to fail platoon. I loved bringing like the FV304 to tier 10 battles, Or even back in the day when the -+5 spread was around, and felt so much power shooting the tank that is so much better, and winning.

    To add to the lack of fun in some of these tiers, I also think that many of the tanks need to be re-balanced. Stock grinds should not suck nearly as much as they do, being a weaker tank is one thing, but being completely unable to sway the way a battle is going, just because you don't have all the modules is dumb. I think a lot of the 5-15 games happen due to how many completely worthless tanks are in the MM, not just the number of bad players you may or may not have on your team.

    I always thought it was just me being a 'high-tier' seal clubber in my T9s. Most of my T9 tanks I have 58% WR and easily 3 mark or two mark those tanks, but as soon as I get to T10, my WR drops to like 53% on average across my T10 tanks. Thought it was just me exploiting those T7s harder in my beefy T9s. Guess it was the MM at T9 being kinder to me.

    reasons why I quit this game are :
    * RNG - literally protecting bad players by 25% reducing your damage roll and chance to miss them ! So many battles are decided by rng saying NO!
    * ECONOMY - back in the day you could get decent amount of silver per battle even with regular tanks up to tier 8. Now with all boosters is problem to get some silver. every premium tank is downgraded in credit making by 40 % or so since 2016.
    *EBR- do I have to say anything? Most broken tank ever, sometimes impossible to damage it as whole tank absorbing damage ..... ebr is the main reason I quit game !!
    * BAD MAPS - the worst aspect of the game. Rocky, hilly, so linear and predictable. There are some maps that has more then 50% wasteland - unplayable areas.

    you could also that the current +2/-2 matchmaker is what is ruining the game. everybody wants to play their tier 10 all the time because they are sick of being in a -2 uptier 2/3 of the time when they play any other tier. then there's the tier 8 problem because there are so many tier 8 premiums and so many people only play premium tanks.

    I agree with u QB. One thing that stands out to me is that tier 8 has by far the most vehicles. But everytime I play tier 8, I am always seeing the same things. That's why I totally get the clock in/clock out mindset. I want to grind the TVP VTU but I keep shooting/getting shot at the same things everytime. It gets boring

    we also used to have more maps. It's ridiculous to have tier 7 to 10 on mines and abby.

      I'm actually surprised tier X does see mines but not province.
      It would be fun playing province and I think a hell of a lot more fun in comparison to mines (biggest trash by a countrymile)
      Abby I don't have a particular problem with, but that is me speaking from primarily HT-perspective.

    As someone who's been playing on/off since 2011, some of the most enjoyable matches I've had were when I've been bottom/middle tier in a match up. You don't feel as if you have that expectation to carry a game as when your top tier and can have fun even on a loss if you do what you can. However, when you do overcome that adversity and do have an impact as a lower tier, it can be some of the most rewarding gameplay too I've found. There is something to be said for outplaying higher tier opponents and coming out the victor. It can also be a nice break from those more sweaty games when you are top of the pack, and may even improve your own gameplay regardless of the disadvantage you enter the match to begin with.

    I don't enjoy the maps in the Random matchmaker. I think we need some of the old maps back, and retouched. mabye some new maps also. That would give me some excitement.
