I had an uncle who was disabled after the accident when he was very young. He could walk with difficulty and many times he became depressed. I remember visiting him one time and because of his illness he was very sad and had no emotions. But when I mentioned Zidane, the smile appered in his face as if the Sun appeared from the darkness. Zidane had beed one of the very few things my uncle loved along with watching the football. Since then Zidane is my favorite player too.
This man is the GOAT. Not only because of his player skills, but the way he mentored his teammates. I'm pretty sure most of them improved a lot after hearing Zizou and adapting to his style.

France had a very good team in this world cup. Especially Zidane, Makalele and Vieira in the midfield dominated almost every game. The defence comprising of Thuram, Abidal, Gallas was strong and conceded just 2 goals in the tournament, which is remarkable. It was the final third that let the team down. Only Ribery and Henry played well. All other strikers, namely Trezeguet, Malouda, Govou, Saha etc did not have what it takes to win a world cup and did not change the scoreboard even once. They missed plenty of chances created by Zidane and the midfield and one can only feel a bit sorry for them. In fact France scored just 9 goals in 7 matches goals which is very less for a world cup finalist. Even out of those 9 goals, 3 were scored by Zidane including 2 penalties and 2 by Vieira, who were both midfielders. The forwards scored just 3 goals - 2 by Henry and 1 by Ribery.
