I cannot get over the piano theme at 3:10 showing off that he truly is in his own world at that point and time. A true state of zen and high that only he could reach. Truly a beautiful scene in so many ways
You know the title of that piano song is actually called “if I am with you.” So when this plays I actually interpret it as the story saying Gojo at this point being thrusted forward by the support of fate and his desire to be the strongest alongside his best friend brings him to a state of mind he never would have been able to reach under different circumstances. Especially since the only other time it plays is when geto and gojo are having slice of life moments with amanai.
It’s also meant to be a foreshadowing of the end of him. Gojo’s ego finally manifests as a manic episode, shutting everyone else out. That includes Geto, starting both the literal and metaphorical chain of events leading to Gojo’s imprisonment
@@primatesnake7004 I wonder if the fact that they used the same song in the moments of Riko's happy day is supposed to show that the beauty and value of life is in simple and everyday things? Riko was happy for just one single day from ordinary things and activities with her close ones, Gojo received enlightenment by grasping the true essence of the cursed energy, which is beyond the ordinary, but these both scenes are equally valuable and beautiful. Perhaps this also connects the two scenes. The first scene is beautifully tragic because we understand that Riko should die the next day right after finally knowing happiness, the second scene is beautifully tragic because enlightenment came to Gojo at the cost of his friend's life.
@mushturt2956 how do people like you exist? This is the worst excuse for entertainment in existence and yet you're memorized by it. How do you exist? Seriously. How are you possible?
I love that instead of doing something more extreme and full of adrenaline, they chose to do a calmer scene, a more artistic tone to match Gojo's lines and thoughts, it genuinely made me think about how the world is a place that even though it is cruel and violent, at the same time it manages to be beautiful and colorful, and this is reflected in how the two act in this fight, with Gojo reflecting and completely lost in his thoughts, representing the beauty of the world, while Toji attacks him with everything, without hesitation, representing the gray and bloody side of the world, this is cinema.
Toji’s instincts told him that “something off” but his pride made him believe he could still kill gojo even after he had a power boost. Anyways toji lowkey did everything right
Fun facts: that line is references from Buddhism when Buddha was born. Soon after his birth, Buddha took 7 steps toward each of 4 directions. Then he declared, raising his right hand toward heaven and his left hand pointing at earth, “Honored am I alone throughout heaven and earth.”
No one talks about 2:44. Gojo was in a state of nirvana, total bliss. He'd forgotten for a moment that Toji was even there and glares at him as if he's disturbed his peace. It startled toji. Badass
4:42 ever since I saw this fight, I've been obsessed with how they added the slight animation to Gojo when it came to the power impact from Purple. Even the way it slightly moved hime just shows how powerful Purple is. That added weight is just masterclass animation. This whole fight was beautiful, but god, I love the little things.
The most original fight scene I have ever watched. The most poetic too… The style highlights how much the state of mind of the two opponents is completely at the opposite from one to another.
@@sal_playz6029 Nah, in the manga is explained better, but all his instincts were telling him to run away, but his pride against the jujutsu world made him stay even tho he knew Gojo was too much to handle at that moment
@@vocecaiunocontodomalakoi7541 I wouldn't say it's explained better, just more directly. In the anime they use a 'show don't tell' strategy where they let us hear Toji's instincts ourselves. While that does leave more up to viewer interpretation I prefer it to Hunter x Hunter style inner monologues taking up the majority of the runtime.
"Something's off" That line and the blackened screen hit me so hard. Once, I nearly got hit by a car in the middle of the road and my vision went completely black. Just about a split second before the impact that would have surely hit me. It narrowly missed me, but that feeling sticks to me to this very day. It is a different experience of course, but I do believe that Toji DID know that he was going to die, not *just* that "Gojo was dangerous" but of course, his pride made him triple down.
@@E_HooliganI had the opposite happen to me. I was 16 and got caught in the crossfire of a gang dispute, I almost got shot in the head but instead of everything going black it all slowed down. Everything about this scene was done to pure perfection. From the animation, to the voice acting, to Toji's beautiful character conclusion and Gojo's character realisation. MAPPA really outdone themselves with this.
yeah but he wasn’t saying “somethings off “ in that moment he was remembering that he said it earlier it was pretty much echoing mentally and when he got hit it all clicked. Fight was quick’
@@ao2415actually the reason why he lost this fight is because he didn’t expect gojo to be alive to set up the necessary conditions to deal with him which caused him to get caught off guard which resulted in his death basically the reason toji had such an advantage over gojo was because he had things setup to deal with gojo basically toji was playing chess and had a strategy
@@str4y293toji had an option to leave before fighting gojo the second time he even says normally I would have hightailed it out of there but his pride blinded him and Gojo does what he does
I love how the contrast in how life and death affects them is insanely apparent in this one fight. Death makes Gojo see the beauty of the world and how good it feels to be alive, whilst death makes Toji realizes how he threw away his life for evil and money; at this point even remembering his son. No one talks about 2:35. Tojis confidence in his skill and the fact that he has no curse energy makes him my favorite character. He lost to a broken character but had the nuts to fight him twice. RIP to the GOAT.
man imo that means either 1) he was only confident because he didn’t know about purple (meaning if he knew he would’ve backed off) or 2) if he knew about purple he would’ve come up with a countermeasure and won either way Toji and Maki are my top 2 of the series 🦧
He was confident in round 1, but here, he expresses uneasiness over Gojo's awakening. He even admits that he tried to cut Gojo down in round 2 purely out of spite for jujutsu society. His instincts were telling him to run, but he was too prideful to do so
@@Stoppable68 Yeah he wasn't winning if he knew about it or not. Gojo didn't just learn 3 techniques, he became a whole different beast from round 1 Actually may have been 4, don't think he could float before.
I think because of Gojo's heightened senses, he can starts feeling more everything around him. The trees, flowers, birds and the sky and being able to hear, sense or in this case feel such things existing makes Gojo feel so enlightened to even be alive to have such an experience. Even with that, he realized he is currently the strongest Jujutsu Sorcerer which makes him feel appreciative that out of anybody or anything in the world, he was chosen to be the strongest. Also him having immense power could also contribute to " high " state like how we humans feel adrenaline.
I always felt like it was a mix of overusing cursed energy, which partly fried his brain, and reverse cursed energy feeding him with positive emotions (in the same way normal cursed energy fills you with negative ones)
I think Gojo got enlightened. Period. The author added all the signs that Gojo is a fully enlightened being now. Like how Gautama Buddha was fully enlightened.
As a piano enthusiast, i can confirm that the scene where he's floating and the song "if i am with you" starts playing is a total vibe, and i wouldn't have it any other way.
Nah Toji doesn't get ENOUGH props for running the 1s with a one of a kind, ascended, one man army, extremely skilled and talented Jujutsu sorcerer who's very birth shifted the balance of the world.
This scene is absolutely stunning. The music, the colours, the fluid animation that extends from the strands of hair to the water drops that form Murazaki(Hollow Purple), Gojo’s calm tone throughout and the buildup whenever we see through Toji’s eyes and feel his fear warning him to flee yet his pride not allowing him to do so… this has to be my favourite from all of the scenes I’ve read and watched thus far.
That "something's off" was his instincts realizing how dangerous Gojo is and preparing him for the challenge. He could've used the rush to run away but was courageous enough to embrace the feeling and move towards danger and the unknown. It was also the beginning of his death which is not an end but a transformation. May Toji rest in Peace.
@@strongHORNET112 but isn’t him being able to dodge super quick limitless ? When I searched it up it says he can do that because of limitless and six eyes
I love that in his internal monologuing, interjected is the response "somethings off" and he bats it down. confidence and drive and pride. But its a great detail that someone on that level has a sense and alarm, on a deeper level, that "wait a second, we arent ok with this" It mostly fed into Gojo being this overwhelming powerhouse, but it was good to see such a seasoned killer like Tojo have those moments of animal responses "wait. Danger. Run"
This scene is beautiful for many reasons. Not just the animation, but the symbolism within it: -Gojo being the most carefree he’s ever been, having realized his own mistakes and coming to peace with Life itself. -Toji revealing that his hatred towards his clan and ambitions to prove them wrong ultimately led to his demise, but knowing that Megumi has the opportunity to live freely gives him some peace during his dying moments. -Toji telling Gojo about his son’s location, proving that he truly loves Megumi more than anything else. And Gojo, despite all that happened, decides to ensure his son lives the life he chooses for himself.
This would forever remain my favourite scene in any anime just for the sheer art and the background music that all paves the way for alot of underlying themes and hidden messages along with great monologues, truly the epitome of any anime . ❄️❄️❄️
Came back to see this and it will always be one of my favorite episodes. Especially the part when Gojo is just admiring the world, how he thinks it’s all so wonderful. Gojo’s awakening and little speech is honestly just so beautiful and im so glad they used that piano music choice 💜
the part where Gojo is just smiling at the sky and then his face shifts and eyes dart right towards Toji as he starts spinning his shit up. shit gives me chills every time i see it, HE SHOULDA KNOWN HE WAS ABOUT TO GET PACKED😭😭😭
This fight was absolutny beautyful, it was kinda short and maybe not so epic, but amount of emotions in this is just amazing. The pride that was lost by Toji, the rejection of death that was turned into absoluty ecstasy by Gojo. This fight was not about the expolosions and who destroys more buildings, EMOTIONS MADE THIS FIGHT TRULY EPIC.
just seeing toji swing back at gojo at 1:25 only for him to appear behind him (upside down nonetheless) combined with the sudden change of rhythm is just pure bliss. you expect when gojo dodges for the music to drop and explode during the battle but it dips down to a calm and fast paced beat which i’d argue should be gojo’s main battle theme
3:53 If you're wondering why this is in quotes, it's a verse by an Buddha who reached true enlightenment and let go of all his anger... For most people, they can reach 100 years of age, holding on by a thread, and still be bitter over something or someone, to let it go is considered by most of the world to be a herculean feat.
Dude wanted the badge of having killed Satoro Gojo, the Strongest, someone whose birth shook the entire foundation of the Jujutsu world, and he wanted to kill him with full access to his technique. That would have made him a legend of such stature that even the clan who rejected him would not be able to ignore it. It didn't matter how strong Toji was, because he had to prove so much more than the average sorcerer for his worth to be acknowledged. Seriously, he's one of the strongest in the verse at that time, someone that strong should be famous, but Gojo and Geto had no idea who the hell he was. That desire to be acknowledged was his downfall, sad.
As he said, it was his pride that killed him, but even then he had the wherewithal to even identify that something was up; and that shit is special in a world as fatal as JJK's. I'm even willing to bet that it his special body sending that signal, and it was just as Toji said; solely his pride that saw him die. He could have made the decision to stop. Run. Anything. But he wanted to fight, he wanted to topple the pinnacle of Jujutsu at that time. It's honestly admirable. Any other character, i'd call it stupid.
Not sad, he chose the wrong path. He could have left the clan and tried to do good, instead this is where his choices led him, and he paid the price for his dark deeds at the hands of someone who achieved zen/nirvana/spiritual ascension/the dao/dharma.
@@Kayrieland where the fu*k do you think he would go you say he could have left his clan like he had a fu*king choice literally everyone wanted him to die you think he as a kid knew anything other than fight he wanted to be acknowledged
Pride? He already snuck Gojo. Especially after he was worn out from exhausting his technique using it for days to keep that girl alive. Please get that meat riding for the deadbeat daddy outta here 😂😂😂
I absolutely LOVE Jujutsu Kaisen's continued reminder that "you have to be a little crazy" to be a sorcerer. Gojo seems to go absolutely insane finding out the true essence of cursed energy 0:51, 1:51, etc. and GREAT job to the voice actor like wow I got shivers with the pure insanity behind 1:13. Also can't get over just how fast he must have shot purple out at Toji that he could not react at all. Makes sense why when he shot purple at Hanami, Hanami got hit and almost killed from so far away. It moved way too fast to dodge completely.
Note that this was criticized by fans before: In the manga, it's clearly established (when used against Hanami), that Hollow Purple is INSTANT. In the anime, they made it look like a really fast-moving ball of energy. So this second portrayal is actually more accurate and it answers your question: The technique is instant, because it's speed is infinite.
@@Alblaka they probably did it so the audience can visualise the technique as well as give time for hanami to escape. If it was truly instant, hanami would have died right there.
Scientifically speaking Gojo can manipulate magnetic fields. Blue is attraction and red is repulsion.. If you try to punch the 2 together on the same place at the same time(if it was phisically possible) with enough force you create a singularity with so much force and speed that could rip a planet apart. Technically speaking yes, gojo threw a dying neutron star at Toji
That's not how that works. The way you would get insanely high energy is if you put two charges that repel each other super close together. Like protons electrically repelling each other in a nucleus.
@@debrachambers1304 Thats exactly what happens, Also I Said... If It was physically possible Maybe It IS thou because Quantum physics Dont condone to regular physics too much
Man for a character appearing in only 5 episodes, He has left a deep impression on me. Toji is a really great written villain, Wish he would have been in future episodes
it could be either. But Im sure his instict and heightened senses of Heavnly restriction. Told him that Gojo was on way higher level than Toji. Toji went on this fight against awakened Gojo on full guard and wanting justice for Amais death
I really like how the hollow purple was so satisfying when he said " take the amplified and the reversal" and a nice animation and the music at that time😮
When he said he doesn’t usually work for free, it basically meant, that after all these years, the hurt that the Zen’in clan did to him is still there and by defeating the strongest sorcerer (Gojo) he defeats and spits on the society that shunned him all his life, his supposed family, the zenin. It’s why Toji is my fave, even with all that strength, he was still hurting. It’s just unfortunate that Gojo represented what Toji hated the most.
@@crazyfriend50 when he delivered Riko, The work was already done. So when he saw Gojo, he didn’t even need to fight, his instincts told him he should run when he felt “something’s wrong”, but his pride took over. This was the moment Gojo felt enlightenment beyond any human’s comprehension. Pausing all futile emotions, giving him absolute focus on THAT one movie he needed to do to win. The structural construction, involving all the symbolism and feeling within this scene and fight make it a unique moment in all of Jujutsu. We see two monsters with a giant increase in their development, where on one side we have Gojo, who far beyond his appearance is a better constructed character in the work, Gojo feels free and relaxed more than ever, but at the same time he regrets of his choices and actions, he has a huge weight for being the strongest, but being the strongest is not always the solution to everything, being the strongest means protecting the weakest, but when he met Toji, he failed in his biggest nickname. Toji, “a primate” who doesn't even have cursed energy, defeated two of the strongest, Toji always hated his clan, and wanted to live the life he was most willing to live, he loves his son more than anything, but if he considered his father unprepared for him, even though he wanted a much better life for him.
I have a speculation that Toji's arc is based on an fairly old and well known tale with the way refers to himself as a "monkey". Although a derogatory term in the world of Jujutsu Kaisen, I think that he is loosely referencing Sun Wukong. It was said that only Buddha, a God, could defeat him. In this scenario given how Gojo has reached an enlightened state, he pretty much became the "God" or Buddha. You can probably piece out things from here.
@@luicifieroIt's a bit out of context to the original comment, but just out of curiosity, I feel the need to ask- Gautama Buddha was always considered a human, was he not?
"Throughout Heaven and Earth, I alone am the honored one." 😭 What a beautiful and emotional scene this was, I felt sad the whole fight. The music fitted in perfectly. This tops Kakashi vs. Obito in my list.
Thats a Buddhist quote btw, when Toji said "soemthing's off" he knew Gojo was in a state of enlightenment, yet his pride ignored that and so he thought he could win. He ended up getting turned into a half donut though.
Man it hurts to hear what Toji says, a family who rejected you because you're a shame to them who you are. Now he gets a chance to kill and shit on what his family aims and it costs him his life. In a way Toji reminded me of my mother but unlike him she just chose to live a simple life with us than continue proving how shitty her family is.
that’s what i’m saying bro. the short little monologue at the end got me so attached to him, i respect his motives and what he was trying to accomplish. maki carries similar sentiment but is going about it in a different way. i hope she accomplishes her goals and shits on the leaders of the zenin clan.
I respect your Mother a million times more than what I ever will value this piece of worthless shit of a person. As a character tho, he's not my cup of Tea.
Toji did everything right according to all the information he had. He knew about Limitless, Blue Energy and Red Energy. He knew he could win. Until Purple appeared. That was something unexpected. Even his instinct told him something was off, but he let his pride take over. RIP Toji.
Toji knew everything about blue and red but he knew NOTHING of Gojo. He's beyond a prodigy with limitless and every expectation he had about how strong he would be immediately flew out the window when Gojo "awakened." Gojo was so much faster than Toji that he got completely behind him before Toji even realized he missed he was screwed no matter what at this point Gojo just was like "Yeah I'm done fighting now" and ended instantly.
@@BruceWayne-kk3bi You're wrong, Toji made some mistakes that were fueled by pure plot conveniences. The moment he put his pride on the line, he lost. The moment Hollow Purple was used, he lost. The moment he used a conventional combat knife to strike Gojo in the head instead of the Inverted Spear of Heaven to nullify Gojo's RCT, he lost. These plot circumstances made Toji's defeat predictable and inevitable.

@@west2267I don’t believe it was before Shibuya in manga but it’s been so long I could be wrong. This is one of the best episodes in anime, it’s a long list but definitely on it.

Thank you for stepping into the background and letting us simply enjoy the full fight.
The pure ecstasy on Gojos face this whole fight is just proof of how horrifying he truly can be along with Hisoka vibes.
Finally a video where it isn’t edited and actually shows the full fight and isn’t clickbait I tip my hat off to you sir for giving us the full fight
Edit: wow 1k likes I didn’t think this comment would get so much 🤣
Hopefully not but it’ll probably be taken down for copyright. Thats why people chop up and edit the videos.
It's just about time until this video gets taken down
>Literally has 4K 60fps in the title
>"isn't clickbait"
Fuck outta' here.
yeah this video isn’t making it past the weekend. Already recorded it in its 1080p glory though, so at least *I’m* chilling
Edit: Looks like I was wrong.
Ye...a fucked up bastardisation of the fight.
Bro:I'm not even that high
Literally bro:
"Throughout heaven and earth, I am the only honoured one" gave me chills😮😮😮
That's some amazing back shots 1:16

He left his wife and son
Maki left her sister
Keep watching… that clan gone get what they deserve
I respect your Mother a million times more than what I ever will value this piece of worthless shit of a person.
As a character tho, he's not my cup of Tea.

I like to interpret his "high" as the feeling of losing everything
and than gaining something new
I like to interpret his high as his adrenaline pumping from a near death experience and strong sense of newfound power
I like ti interpret high as he drank a beer then went to smoke and then inhaled cooking powder if yk what I mean and now he's straight up insane
Toji did everything right according to all the information he had. He knew about Limitless, Blue Energy and Red Energy. He knew he could win. Until Purple appeared. That was something unexpected. Even his instinct told him something was off, but he let his pride take over. RIP Toji.
Even if he knew about purple nothing changes
Toji knew everything about blue and red but he knew NOTHING of Gojo. He's beyond a prodigy with limitless and every expectation he had about how strong he would be immediately flew out the window when Gojo "awakened." Gojo was so much faster than Toji that he got completely behind him before Toji even realized he missed he was screwed no matter what at this point Gojo just was like "Yeah I'm done fighting now" and ended instantly.
@@BruceWayne-kk3bi You're totally wrong. If Toji were cautious and knew about Hollow Purple, he wouldn't lose. People need to accept this.
@@blindphilosopher even if he dodge ntg will change he still dies because he himself said that was his mistake to face strongest sorcerer
2:33 words can't describe how much i love this scene, the way toji spins the chain and the spear like a kusarigama is just so good to watch, especially here at 3:55 as well.
3:55, my fav moment cuz it so cool.
They have to unite with the studio that made Castlevania, it's extremely rare so see such nice animation on weapons like this. I dare say Castlevania did it better, but this had a sense of speed and the soundtrack was amazing
