    God damn! 2 minutes in, and im already super impressed with your ridiculous level of attention to detail and your insanely amazing skills.
    EDIT 1: Now at 3:25 and is forever giving up the thought of ever cosplaying because *bows down* I am not worthy of milady and her skills make me hold myself cheap and without course.
    EDIT 2: 5 SECONDS AFTER EDIT 1 and your movie line/ build line mash ups are BRILLIANT and make me happy.
    EDIT 3: how to spot a cosplayer; can sew, work leather, make boots, make patterns etc etc. Etc with this level of skill but "fashion terms are not my area" GOLD

  • @lukedogwalker
    @lukedogwalker Год назад +1

    Brilliant work. Very faithful and detailed, and well executed.
    Speaking as an archer, the reason Aragorn only wears one glove is immediately obvious! He keeps his bow hand bare because if he wore even a very tight leather glove on his bow hand, his grip would have a tendency to shift (the material across his palm would move as he gripped the bow) and this would, of course, not be good for his shooting form, which would then reduce his accuracy. You can't control how the material would move, so it introduces a random element that the shooter can't control. Aragorn probably hunts to sustain himself in the wild, which makes the bow his most important kit for most of the time, and a bow hunter only gets one shot.
    I would suggest that the padded leather wrist covers beneath the "cuffs" are actually the braces, and that the cuffs are correctly named, being primarily decorative/heraldic.

    Pretty awesome! I am very impressed with your leather work. Seamstress here. Did you use a leather needle on your sewing machine? The right needle can make all the difference in the world. Also, if you have a thick seam to get through, when you start the seam, don't have the back of the pressure foot hangin off the edge of the fabric. Put a balancing piece of fabric, it won't be sewn, butted right up to the edge of the of the start of the seam. This balances the pressure foot and then your sewing machine will like you again. I use this method for any thick fabric that I sew, denim, wool, etc. I imagine it would work for leather.

    • @SnappingDragon

    You're gonna laugh, but despite loving that character wholeheartedly, I had never even given a thought to his clothing. The hair, the sword and well, the character himself (masterfully played) stole the whole show for me ^^ I really appreciate that you go for handstitches when visible, for natural materials more often than not. This costume looks really authentic.

      @@SnappingDragon Aragorn is difficult because he has many layers impractical for everyday use. However, a red Ghillie shirt coupled with a brown BDU jacket, jeans, and boots should fit the bill. Aragorn wears blue, red, and brown frequently so those three colors should embody his character while staying practically modern.

      I made my own pattern off of a yolked button down shirt I had & modified the heck out of it. Unfortunately I didn't document the process as it was long before I did RUclips. The yolk isn't really necessary. If you aren't too picky a basic viking tunic pattern could work just fine, they have a similar neckline. I just gathered a bunch of movie screenshots for references.
