The true mark of a dangerous video game enemy is when they attack you in the meta. Bowser swapping the On/Off to make you lose is just all part of his evil plan

That bowser level was hysterical, that said it's only a soft lock if you go forward without letting him hit it a second time, at which point his location is reset to inside. Otherwise you can wait for him to hit it again, which sucks, but is viable.
The actual intent seems to be go through door, jump, now he's locked and you're on top of his cage, especially if you're small, which could've saved one of those attempts but yeah not worth having at all.
Question about 1up staircases: Wouldn't any wall with a 1 tile floor beside it work? The shell doesn't really interact with the vertical wall up high, so I don't see why it also has to be 1 tile tall.
I had to learn about that from #royru .

@@tomrrw Best trick for the Staircase Shell 1-Ups is in N.S.M.B.U & 3D WORLD Styles with the Ground Pound Cancel. It's difficult to do it in S.M.B.3 & S.M.W. styles.

I think for the on off in the Bowser blocking goal level, it was there so that when you opened the key door, you could immediately jump up to hit it, placing you above the blue blocks and trapping Bowser. If this was their intent they should've just not had Bowser in the first place though honestly

You actually werent softlocked whem the bowser stomped the on/off the second time, as he still was outside the box and able to swap the on/off state back with a stomp

in the first level, doesn’t it stall because the shell isn’t bouncing off the launcher anymore? when the launcher’s onscreen, the shell is bouncing in a one bucket against the on/off and the launcher, but when he gets to the end, the launcher is offscreen and is no longer loaded like global ground is, so the shell bounces in a two bucket instead. any scientists out there who can confirm this?
