The first one would legit be the best zombie apocalypse base. Buy canned food, a lot of water (or a filter) and boom. Zombies don't have brains so they can't swim.

I know where I would run to in that case

I'm not homeless, but I still want to buy it.
Is there even a need to renovate it? I just want to claimed that I own a castle!🤣

Actually I’m from Lleida and this is completely absurd!!! The Seu Vella (which is not a castle, it’s a Catholic cathedral) is ABSOLUTELY not for sale and never has been??!! it’s literally THE monument that we have here and visited and beloved by all. Weddings are officiated here ffs
People will do anything to get clicks and of course there's no way that we can actually flag this video for the lies it tells. Unfortunately, comments like yours are suppressed.
Without a doubt this is just another content farming channel.
My first thought when I saw the tower and windows was “Isn’t that a cathedral?” These shorts guys love making things up
Reported the short for misinformation. Probably won't go anywhere, but worth the effort
@@keinlieb3818so you don’t know how to report a video? Just say you’re not smart enough ti figure it out good grief. Quite simple. 🙄😂
The first castle was used as a set for a children's TV show I used to watch as a kid. You've literally just unlocked a core memory I forgot I had.
Fort Boyard yeah i remember that

i used to love that program, forgot the name but is it the one where they have to collect keys, then at the end they collect coins?
For those wondering. Italian castles are hundreds or even a thousand years old. The italian law forbids to demolish or excessively alter hystorical locations, unless their excistance could cause arm to somebody (ex a damaged tower who could fall)
So you don't just have to adjust it, but you have to keep it as close to the original state as possible (this depends on the building and the laws)
So, unless you are that milionaire with a true passion for history, you shouldn't consider this type of purchase.
You can easily find cheaper ancient buildings or newer houses
Why doesn't the government save them?
These old buildings are a part of our european culture.
@@CordeliaWagner you don't even know how much stuff here in Italy needs to be saved, in rome for example they stopped the construction of new subways because they were afraid to find something valuable and have the work tp to just stop, AGAIN
What if we take them but dont do anything with it
@@ankitgaonkar6463 the sate will take it back, is one of the requirements for the purchase doing something whit it.
But castle… and history
You're telling me not one mega rich person wants to buy a castle in Italy? They didn't look too bad.
Might be cheaper to just build your own from the ground up. Those old castles probably have all kinds of foundation issues and installing water lines, plumbing, and electricity in those old ones would be a hassle. And just building a new place you can make it exactly how you want it
I mean it could really add up! Especially because it's surrounded by water
@@BabaYaga214 nevermind the potential structural issues
Probably they want them already repaired instead of waiting
@@BabaYaga214+ they are most probably historical landmarks and you need a shit ton of paperwork to work on them and can't change shit
They probably have ridiculous zoning laws set by the government which requires you to rennovate it to its original state within xx time from sale.

Crap
This man is a legit real life npc
It’s not just the cost of renovating. Many old castles/buildings have heritage regulations attached & you can’t have a free rein on your vision for the place. You’ve gotta jump through hoops & red tape with local government/councils.
even worse... they will straight up stonewall you and then fine you for not taking care of it and then tax you for owning it.
i thought it was a good deal haha just bowl the house and built up from the ground but nope
Thanks I was considering to buy 😆🤣
I know some castle owners (I know, kinda insane to say) and it's crazy what the regulators will stonewall you on... Especially heating solutions (they didn't allow a friend of mine to install modern heating of any kind and basically force em to rely on old coal and wood burning solutions) and things, that in no way affect the looks, but make bills way way lower (like better roof insulation etc).
that's lame. they would rather it just rot than have someone build something nice?
Renovating an Castle sounds like an dream tbh
I have to agree with you on that I'd make it my own paradise if I had the money
But financially a nightmare
Back breaking
Well it isn’t Minecraft, I would guess it would crumble or look like shit after your done with it.
@@randomname8220 not if you put work into it
It's not the renovation cost. It's the property tax that is keeping buyers away
It's not just for the restoration of the castle which will cost millions, once it is restored, the upkeep or maintenance of such a castle will cost you a fortune each year.
maybe but once restored, that castle could be promoted as a tourist attraction, restaurant or even hotel.
some money could be made out of it.
but yeah, the cost for reparations would be huge. but even so, would it really be any different if some businessman started a construction project from scratch instead.
the cost would be almost the same.
Idc if my castle is rundown, it’s still a castle

Tax?
@@snowtrick2907 hm that is an interesting point

@@snowtrick2907 tax evasion 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Ah yes, the government. We don't want it, but don't want to fix it either. If you do fix it, you do it our way with money we won't pay.
yes bc theyre paying for things like safety net policies (its also very healthy for the economy)
would you rather have them spend your tax money to renovate them? That are tens to hundreds of millions spend not on social services, infrastructure... etc
@@Nightmare43262would rather them just actually give them away for free no strings attached
yes @@Nightmare43262
Lol
For those who are confused about people not buying them it’s because of Tax reasons and there’s no point of buying it even for free when you have to spend money to fix it and have to pay huge amounts of Tax
When a castle is cheaper than the average house
"no one will pay for it even with one dollar"
That's because we use pounds. 😂
Yeah last time I checked wales wasn't a shit place with no free healthcare

None of the facts in this video are remotely correct.
The first "castle" mentioned is "Pembs Castle", there is no castle by this name and the "castle" shown is Stack Rock Seafort, which has actually been sold multiple times, the price he lists is actually how much it sold for in 2005, it has since been sold again in 2022.
I know less about the other castles but there look to be comments debunking those as well.
The Lleida castel (more know’n as “La Seu”) is not on market. Is a simbol of the territory and has been reformed for the visitors.
Ezio would definitely buy and renovate the last castle
I KNEW I SAW SOMETHING FAMILIAR
I thought it looked familiar XD
Did anyone notice the guy in black crouch walking in the castle interior?
Yeah I saw that tower and was like “I know that”
Ahh yes AC i would loved to live in italy which is more better to bought an House or an Castle?
I love castles, I'm fascinated by them! I would buy it even if the restoration costs were kinda high, cuz I believe that in the end it would be worth the investment, maybe the return on money would be great if it could turn into a hotel or something that ppl could come, stay, spend some time there and feel like kings or queens lol! As long as they weren't haunted, I'd buy them if I had the money.
1 Dollar?
I’m sure there was some tv show that was filmed on the first one.
Crystal maze
It’s not that one, but yes.. I think the show you are talking about is “Fort Boyard” it’s a French show ;)

I think one finnish show was filmed there too, forgot about it

Homeless people: “Now this looks like a job for me”
I grew up in a place where empty lots could sell for millions just on location and view alone, the fact that literally nobody wants free property and probably one of the most badass homes to live in astonishing
Someone should make a show renovating castles
Been done, it's called "Escape to the Chateau". in USA it airs on PBS network
“Castles nobody wants to buy for one dollar”
“This one’s 150 thousand dollars”
Even if it was free it wouldnt be worth it once you include upkeep, renovations, modernizing it, keeping as much of it as possible in the original condition as possible, tax costs and having to fix unexpected structural issues
@@tohro6969 nobody said you need to renovate it, you could buy it as a landmark n keep it how it is. Except you just own it and could close it off whenever you want
@@Noone-hk1vf If the government allows it and doesn't force your hand then go for it lol.
@@tohro6969 maybe i will haha, just dont have enough money right now lol
Most of these Castles are landmarks, which means you actually can't renovate or teardown the way you want, So it definitely a huge turn off
for the castles Italy want to give for free. I am 9000% sure it comes with a catch, like, if you buy it, you are FORCED to renovate it. Like, otherwise, why would nobody take it?
All you need is to get one and then eventually get donations to restore it as a place where people can visit for a price as a historical site.
Stack Rock Fort isn't a Castle, it's a barracks that was built in 1749. The last castle to be built in Wales was in 1295.
Those Italian castles wouldn't be too bad to live in if you approach the Reno smartly
Yes true, but most italian castles are more than a thousand years old, and as an italian myself i would buy it cause it's still a castle, but the structure is not safe at all, plus you need a lot of permissions and tons of money
The one on the island would be hell. I can't even get a contractor to show up. Imagine trying to get an army of them to work on this one!
Also, the reno generally requires new electrical, plumbing, etc. before you even get to the fun parts. Would be prohibitively expensive. The reason wealthy people don't want it is because it's a money pit, not a money maker.
bro even if i didn’t renovate it… i still own a castle
i see the free castle as a win bruh
The first castle:
MrBeast: uhh ill buy it for a dog💀👍
Love how he explained why the spain castle won't go
Maybe because he made it up. It's not a castle but a unique fortified cathedral IN USE predating the moor conquest, it's a cataloged historical monument and is not (and has never been) on sale.
It's not even a castle and it's not on sale. That's BS.
Is just one of the most enduring symbols of the city. You really think in Spain we sell Cathedral-Castles willy-nilly?
I would buy that any day
Don’t , you be broke and you will lost all the money u have now
Who said that’s all the money I have
You're obligated to restore it too, for cultural and historical reasons. You can't just buy the castle for the land and raze the existing castle to the ground, or sit on it and do nothing.
I wouldn’t wanna renovate it because the coolest part is the historical aspect of it
why don't the governments restore them, I mean it doesn't look like they were built yesterday. They should be historically valued I believe.
The first one looks like a place where you do challenges at for a TV show...
I'm 90% sure it did actually have a game show hosted there. I just can't remember the name but they had an actual tiger pit.

"The catch is, you are given a time limit to totally renovate the building to proper standards, costing millions, or else you'll be fined and the property re-seized"
So sad the ones in charge have let such beautiful buildings go to waste.
the first one is amazing to uncover hidden items and old stuff that may be able to do something

If you find partners and raise around 1 million, you can turn those castles into insane hotels….
you miss a few zeros there. just running the utilities to those is gonna drain your funds QUICK
@@karlfranz3819 renovating that thing not gonna cost you more than 500-700k, plus plumbing and heating… at most 1 mil, above that would be promotion and maybe buying a small ship for transportation… and you can put any kind of a price tag on rooms, I guess it will be profitable within at most a year…
@@chrisvaughan2462 😂 this guy put up a garden shed and thinks he can estimate a castle renovation
@@chrisvaughan2462 at least for the italian ones, they are deep in the mountain. that's a colossal cost if no previous infrastructure is near. especially for water.
A castle that's abandoned and where people have to swim to go to and has to be fixed! It's perfect🥰
There only free or have such reduced prices because renovations are mandatory with the sale and they are generally required to be restored rather then remodelled
How come no one's slagging off the lack of Italian or Spanish pronunciation. That's usually the first thing you see from people expecting English speakers to have perfect pronunciation in every language
who said im renovating it to the fullest my main goal would be that the floor doesnt collapse under me

That last castle looked like every single synchronization point in AC2
Some evil villains gonna buy the first one
In France we made a special lottery to finance work to renovate all our old castles and it works quite well.
Another reason nobody wants to buy these is because of immense property tax, the people who can afford a castle would rather buy a modern house or build something that personally suits them.
The issue is that the law is extremely restrictive what you can do with these properties. Usually it's tied to you fixing or maintaining them at your own cost, that's why no one buys them.
I CALL DIBBS ON THE LAST ONE IM GANNA TURN IT INTO A RESTURAUNT
You need special stone from a particular quarry to renovate castles or monasteries. That can be hard to get and damn expensive to transport. You can’t you any other stone. Then there is the painting. You need specialist painters and that could cost a fortune.
The first one is where the game show fort byard was filmed. I loved that show... It was like crystal maze but so much better!
Italian cultural heritage worker, here. The reason none wants to buy those castles is due to strict cultural heritage rules. You are basically forced to restore historical buildings, you have to ask permission whenever you want to make changes (it takes months and they can say no), and you can't use them in a way that is considered inappropriate (ie you can't turn a castle into a mall). You'd have to find someone who is very patient, very rich to cover the costs and willing to buy them without expecting much in return. There's only a select few people in the world that meet those requirements.
There are dozens of castles in France owned by (ex)nobles who have to live in only 3 or 4 rooms (out of 50 or 60) because it’s too expensive to renovate or maintain in good condition the rest of the castles. And they can’t find buyers.
As an Italian i had an heart Attack when they said "Montefiore" (no hate and i dint really had an heart Attack)
Was kinda hoping you’d say one of these were “haunted” so I could have a castle without having to renovate it
The buildings have to be remodeled up to the Govt. standsrds and approval. Building permits, labor must be done locally, taxes, ownership can't be transferred within 10-15 years, no destruction of any kind per title, etc.
Pembs castle, as shown, is actually Stack Rock Fort and sold two years ago.
I note that the CIC website is... missing so perhaps it is back on the market, but I don't think so.
Ok but if it were a multi millionaire, I would 100% want an Sea Fortress, the evil genius vibes would be immense
I'd buy them all and turn them into museums with all the artifacts I find inside
It's more like "Castles governments are trying to get people to renovate for them"
I'd buy Middleham Castle if it was for sale. For years, I've fantasized about restoring it and making it livable.
