Today I want to talk about the hard stuff. The stuff that rarely gets talked about but the struggle is SO real. The hard side of homeschooling and how to handle it.
I want to talk about perspective and focus in our homeschool and how that plays a part in our every day, day to day life! I want to talk about the struggles we face...and what is waiting for us on the other side.
I want to ask you...where is your focus?
When you get down and defeated, what are you choosing to focus on?
We have a choice!!! No homeschooling isn't always sunshine and roses, but there is SO MUCH JOY TO BE HAD IN THE JOURNEY.
My prayer is that this video encourages you. If you are finding yourself at the end of your rope...know that your Good Shepherd is there, waiting to pick you back up and walk beside you in this journey you are on. Homeschooling is one of the hardest things I have ever done, but the rewards are ENDLESS! This homeschool journey has had plenty of ups and downs but we always make it across to the other side! You are not alone, even though it may feel that way sometimes.
I see you. I hear you. I feel you.
    May you be blessed.
I pray you feel encouragement here in this space.
    WITH LOVE- ALWAYS,
    JAMIE

    Hello, mama! ☕️
I pray this video blesses you. This video was filmed a few weeks ago and I was hesitant to post it today because we are dealing with some really hard stuff. I fought it...but had to be obedient to what God called me to do, regardless of our life circumstances. I pray this video reaches the sweet mama who needs it today. ❤

I'm sorry you are having a hard day, I think the devil hits homeschool moms a little harder, and those of us that have taken the ministry of helping others get hit even harder! He hates us because he knows we're making a difference. I loved this video and it really blessed my heart. I needed this video TODAY.

Jamie I am so glad you posted this is was for me. I have 4 boys and this year by far is the hardest because of all the outside things going on we sold our house moved into a camper right before Christmas bought a new house that needed gutted remodeled my boys were involved in almost every aspect except the super dangerous part of getting everything out of here we found so much that wasn't safe for the kids to be around or even help with however the amount of bookwork missed that at this point there is no feasible way to get our 180 days in and I over here going well crap now what yet they learned so much in all the processes

I’m literally in floods of tears after watching This video. I hit play after my husband accused me of being a crap mum just because my eldest son opened up to him about one thing. He said “you didn’t know that. He didn’t tell YOU that and you’re the one here with him.” My husband is just recently saved and has never really bothered much with our children. It’s been me raising all five of them on my own for the past nine years. Homeschooling them, instilling good into them and doing my best. I am new to the ways of home education as I was in public school in the U.K. I knew nothing about how it worked and I feel I’m still far from being where I need to be. He crushed me with all he said (too much to type) but your video brought me encouragement and felt your tender heart through your words. It was just perfect timing-God’s timing for me to hear what you had to say. God without a doubt used you to speak to me tonight.

I have graduated 4 so far. It's amazing the amount of confidence you gain once you graduate your first.
I worried about all sorts of things, for nothing. Educational wise, my kids appreciate that they were homeschooled, and they are confident, lifelong learners.
Everything didn't turn out as I dreamed, but God has been so faithful!
I pray that all the parents learn to " trust in the Lord...and lean not on their own understanding." He loves us so much, and is working on our behalf.
Remember your identity. You are a precious, child of God. It's worth the effort.

I cannot tell you how deeply I needed every word of your video today. God's timing.is perfect and astounding. When you opened with prayer, I slumped over the load of laundry that I was folding and prayed along with you in agreement...and the tears started to flow. I cried throughout your entire video. It was completely Holy Spirit led. Thank you. And I know that all the interruptions in the making of this was the enemy. Thank you thank you for listening and being obediant. Today was hard. I feel like I'm not doing enough. I see how brilliant my kids are and how fast they're absorbing what I'm teaching that I want to make sure I teach to their level. I get overwhelmed. But Jesus' presence is so sweet. I am teaching a 7 and 5 year old with a rambunctious two year old in the mix. Days are messy and full. I cannot thank you enough. I am praying for you in this hard thing you are going through. Love you, sis!

    Hi Jamie,
I so needed your video today! We have been on the struggle bus for 2 years. 🤦🏻‍♀️
I’m a homeschool mom to five. Three have graduated. I have two at home. Back in the day of my older kids, it was easier, in my opinion. I didn’t have social media! So I never felt like I had to change curriculum or style.
Now with social media, I have been flip flopping with everything. My 16 yr. old is behind in math, so is my 12 yr. old. I have felt like I am failing them. I gave my husband the math, and now my girls are getting the math.
My older kids, my son works for Amazon in management. My middle daughter is an RN, like her dad. My youngest works for an aircraft company also in management. Two older ones are married, and I have sixteen grandchildren!
I thank Yah(God) for your channel!
May Yah bless you and your sweet family.
Thank you for all you do with your channel!

I just started homeschooling my kindergarten. We started loosely in June. We played games, used our movable alphabet and other hands on materials and also curriculum. Now it’s almost october and my daughter has caught in, and doesn’t want to do anything! She is so resistant. So I’m throwing out the curriculum books. Going to focus on art and science experiments she loves and reboot. I used to love our time together and it’s become stressful and frustrating, it makes me want to cry, but I just need wisdoms in this moment.

This made me cry today. We have been homeschooling for two years and I’m the only one in my circle doing something different like this. I found out today another mom was telling my daughter I need to put them back in school. She said “I’ll tell her for you” to my oldest daughter. Every time I turn around, because I’ve been struggling with depression lately, I hear put them back in school. No one asks me how I feel. I’m following my call to teach them and it’s not easy. It’s hard but so good. I needed your video today. Thank you!

It's true. I've been doing this 12 years, and am a homeschool graduate. I weekly wonder what I got myself into and end up on my knees every day calling to God for help. It doesn't get easier, it does get different. Old trials are traded in for new, and each season brings new challenges to navigate. Right now I've got kids in high, middle and elementary school. I don't struggle with comparison...I struggle with other things though...mainly setting the bar a little to high. I think a lot of mama's don't talk about the struggles because they fear naysayers and being viewed as incompetent. Since we're such a minority and have gone against the grain by being homeschoolers we fear as we look through the scope of the world, as you perfectly said. I really loved this video.

I’m homeschooling 4 boys and have 2 little ones who aren’t school age. I haven’t enjoyed homeschooling for YEARS. It pretty much all sucks. Trying to teach all of them and manage the littles. Everything is a challenge. I don’t have any school options I’m willing to consider so I’m not going to stop, but I don’t like homeschooling. I like my curriculum and there’s nothing I want to change with it. I don’t have social media so it’s not comparisons stealing my joy. It’s just a bunch of kids that all need me and learning difficulties.

I needed to hear this today. And I also appreciated the simple comment that it had taken you 4 hours to make a simple video. I get so disheartened at distractions and my own struggles with depression and it gets to me that things take longer to accomplish at times. I’m really struggling with trying to handle everything, the house, the meals, the kids, the school and stay on top of it all. Things keep falling apart and I’m really at the point where I’m not sure if homeschooling is for us. But then I have the moments when I realize I would miss being around the kids and if I’m ready to send them to school only to get them back at the end of the day when they are exhausted and irritable.

The closing happened really fast so in October we were moving! Then... Thanksgiving and Christmas... We seriously still have boxes to unpack on top of being behind homeschooling. This was for me
Thank you for taking the 4 hours plus to get it to me. Really thank you. I had just had a super long day, put my kids to bed did the dishes and was Sitting among a huge pile of all the papers and supplies and things that I feel I’m failing at crying and I felt like I needed to turn on RUclips. Your video was the first one that popped up and your beanie was cute so I watched it. I feel so seen by God right now. Thank you for reminding me what direction to look 🤍

Hi Jamie, can I just say thank you for sharing this video. I’ve been homeschooling for 5 years. I homeschool 3, and this year has been such a challenge. I’ve been in such a roadblock and I’m beginning to feel weary and I think my kids are picking up on that too. You hit the nail on all of my struggles. Am I doing enough, am I teaching enough, are the kids understanding what they are reading/ learning. It’s definitely been a challenge and I think you so much for talking about this. I needed to hear this. I ugly cried because I know now I am not alone in this. God bless you.

It did Jamie! Though I am sure I am not the only one, your video spoke right to my heart. Among others, it was for me…and I am so appreciative of your obedience to God in sharing it! Thank you, thank you, thank you from the depths of my Mama heart. I will include your family situation(s) in my prayers. God is faithful and sovereign. I know you know this💖

That example you gave of your friend whose son is doing something way beyond what she trained him for.... That was SO ENCOURAGING to hear. That is my prayer before the Lord every day. That while I try to be faithful to do my part, I NEED HIM to be the one to teach my children 💕❤️ thank you for this video! (also, side note... Would LOVE a video on your off grid cabin. How you were able to purchase a second house on one income, how you set it up, etc--IF that's something you feel comfortable with! 😍)

Thank you so much for this video! I have so many times thought just those same things you talked about in this video as a homeschooling Mom. What you said has made me realize that I, we, my son and I, can do this. We can always turn to God for our help when we need Him, as we are not alone in this journey. May God bless you and your channel.

Like you said, it doesn't getting easier...just DIFFERENT. The beautiful burden of Morherhood is an honor and MUCH lighter when we carry only what we are supposed to. Comparing is crippling. Keep eyes on Jesus and our babies. Careful to "not compare our weaknesses to others strengths" (heard that last quote the other day)🙌🙌🙌

It doesn’t get easier, the challenges just change for sure. Our homeschool journey started 2 years ago and it’s been a huge adjustment to pull a kid that was in 6th grade and go into that whole world. It’s nerve wracking! I have moments where I feel like a complete failure but then others I feel so amazing that I have a 14 year old that still likes me. An outschool teacher told me he was so respectful and polite and a wonderful student and that is just what i needed. I feel like homeschooling is a life long things for us. I know that if my kids choose to continue their school journey and need help, I will be there learning right there with them. My son even told me how happy he was in homeschool. He had anxiety and I’m pretty sure he was depressed in public middle. It was awful.

Your words made me feel normal. It's been a difficult season. I have three boys Homeschooling my 1st grader while my 1 and 4 year are running around the house and I'm pregnant with my 4th. I barely could homeschool through my morning sickness and cried almost everyday feeling like a total failure. But it brought me to my knees before the Lord and I realized a can't do this without Him. After He called to to do this. Thankfully I'm also starting to feel better. Loved what you shared. Thank you ❤️

Thank you for posting this. You have a beautiful heart. I am on year 2 of homeschooling 4 kiddos. My oldest is in 9th. I have been praying for God to help him “find his thing”. Well, he did. He joined fire explorers. After I realized what he could potentially be exposed to as a first responder I had a mini panic attack. But then I heard God say, “trust me” So, that’s what I am doing. Trusting Him to protect and trusting Him to take over where I fail ❤️

Thank You, Thank You for bringing this. I’m a mother of three boys well two grown man and a 14 year old boy. I’m a newbie at homeschooling second year. Having a hard time with trying to teach my child high school when I can’t remember half of the stuff. Trying one curriculum after another with no success to the point I had a horrible anxiety and panic attack and started screaming at my child. I had to completely stop and take a break from middle of December until second week of January. I feel like a failure, my son seems completely lost 😞 he is stressed out. As I was researching for more help with homeschool high school I came across your video. Thank You I needed this. God Bless You!
