Hi,Gail & Alex, absolutely love your dolls heads! Could the little devil possibly be PAN boy & could the Lady be Aphrodite his mother?
💖👑👑💖🎬🎥📽👏👏👏👏👏👏😊☺😁
What a godsend you ladies are in these troubled times. I get lost in the music and the artistry and forget about life for a while. So thank you xxx
So true!🥀
Me three ❤️
Me too!
Amen 🙏🏼🌹❤️🌹
Said beautifully whatever number I am! We so need to be near each other I'm ready to start hugging people again. I've just lost everybody in the last 3 years or so literally my family my friends have passed. This is such an escape I cannot sit through an hour video of anybody else.🥀🐾🐝🦋🐛🐌🌾🌱🐸
You two are so creative and genuine and refreshing....just what the world needs. Beautiful ladies with good, kind, hearts, and a love for life.
Crafting with your mum is wonderful you will have good memories forever
Yes, ive said it before, but so lucky to be friends with your own family!
The thing that always blows me away is how many skills you both have, and how lightly you wear them. The painting of the word "poison" being a case in point.
Those beautiful doll faces would make make gorgeous lapel pins! Even painted one color because they are so detailed! ♥️
I love how you both find such joy in finding these tiny broken treasures, I thought I was the only one.
I never heard of Mudlarking until I came across these girls..I love them 💚
I like the way Barbie is building up her part, she’ll have a talking part soon 😉
I think Barbie has a plan...
She could be animated lol
I cannot wait to hear what she has to say. I suddenly realise I have always thought of Barbie as a rather shallow character but perhaps she has hidden depths, maybe I have been prejudiced all along, without being aware of it. I may have to apologise.🤔
She probably looks out of that window all day and wonders why the fence at the bottom is called barb wire and not cindy wire ;)
From now on I shall call it Barbie wire LOL😄😄
AMAZING! You did such a brilliant job for not having painted faces before.
It’s a pigeon’s head. Not a chicken :) I love the Scottish sponge ware which I found all about because of your channel. I love how you give everything a go and see how it works out. :)
And you play the Parting Glass which is a very old Scottish air :)
I thought the bird was a quail ?
@@patriciaglove8201 Yes, perhaps.
@@patriciaglove8201 Yes I thought so too.
Those would make really cute fridge magnets.
I thought that too, or if they were all painted with the right features and put on flip down boards they could make a guess who game out of them
I think a old electric tooth brush would be a good vibrator to get rid of the bubbles
Bring me the head of light entertainment...and a cup of tea :)
Watching Alex paint, I could almost imagine the porcelain painters centuries ago bent over their works. Fabulous ♥️
Northern Mud Larks alway put me in the mood to create! Thank you so much!!
They are so inspiring!
yup...I'm normally crocheting whilst I watch them...creating my own projects...
Your talent & patience is beyond compare. Beautifully painted, well done on the research too. Thank you for sharing your super ideas.
The addition in your video of Barbie randomly showing up is hilarious! I love a good sense of humor. ❤️
They turned great.
You should make a Northern Mudlarks porcelain tea set, so cute.
I found this really therapeutic. You are a really crafty pair, really nice to see mother and daughter doing stuff like this together 👍
It’s a head!!!! I love you two and how excited you get when you find your treasures. I would be the same way!
Big crack each other up I love it
Yes, I thought we weren't going to hear another growled "It's a head!"
That grin when Alex said “it’s a head” is so cute!
Great Job!!🥀
I've said it before but it bears repeating. I believe there is nothing that you ladies can't do! I'm amazed over and over. So much talent and enthusiasm, you are fun to watch. Thanks gals!
❤️🌺
This brings back memories of when I used to paint bisque ware 20 years ago, at a pottery shop in Southampton. Once a week I would go there choose my pieces clean them and then paint. Still have some of the pieces today.
Thanks for all the time that took. It was wonderful to watch on this rainy Northern California Valentines Day.
How wonderful! Amazing pieces ladies, fantastic work!
I am truly amazed at how you turn junk into treasure
I have a love for dark things so naturally I absolutely love the black head Alex did 🖤🥰
Every time I watch your videos Alex makes me smile. She is so adorably sweet.
Time for a cuppa and two of my favorite creative people!
They come alive when you add the 👀. Fantastic job ladies!
Magnificent! You are self taught which is impressive. There is nothing stopping you now. No need to wait to complete heads and other limbs in your pieces. 💞
Such a fun video! You two are so creative! The heads turned out well and too cute you named them! The voices at the end 🤣😂🤣😂! Can’t wait to see the surprise! 🌺🌴
I never liked dolls as a kid. From seeing all the work that goes into it, I appreciate them now. So beautiful!
Wow not only beautiful but talented, real renaissance ladys
The amount of tenderness you give to these dear little faces as you paint their features is a joy to see .
Masterpieces in miniature 👌🏼🕊
Gregory and Julian , so delightful 💐
Valentine greetings to you both.
I didn't see in the video, please make sure to wear respiratory protection when cleaning porcelain. It is very unhealthy to breath that dust. Loved your outcomes
they were wearing masks whilst sanding...l noticed them on their faces myself..
Those teeny tiny heart sponge stamps! AAAG too cute
There is something about watching extremely talented artists experiment with learning new mediums that is unbelievably satisfying! You are both incredible.
Greetings from Arlington Texas. I just wanted to let y'all know how much I enjoy your videos. I love the exploration, the finds, the creativity of both of you, and I enjoy the history lessons. Absolutely beautiful. Thank you so much for sharing your artistic talents. I look forward to your next video. I so wish I was on the beach right along with the two of you.
I'd love to see a few painted only with blue paint like China plates. A little blue devil or bird head would be absolutely adorable and make lovely pendants. 😊
Many years ago I was a picture framer in an art store in Lakewood,NJ U.S.A.
I met a Mrs/MS Tuttle who belonged to a society of Porcelain Doll Makers.
She would take a portrait of someone, often children and create a replicate of the face and limbs which resulted in a realistic porcelain doll.
I think she was quite well known .
This video brought back my memory of her, thank you.
I am amazed at the detailed porcelain figure remnants you find.
They all seem to have individual personalities.
I know if you persist in your pursuits you will always get a head:)
Cheers,
Rik Spector
Resurrected from a dump! You ladies are so talented. I love that you try everything!
As a person who likes to also do crafts, and new things, I do wish you would would post a list of the successful clays, paints and glazes that you use, as well as tools like the small grinding wheel you used to make pottery pendants. ( Maybe you could get the companies to pay for advertising ?)
The grinding wheel machine is a Stained Glass Grinder. I've seen them on Ebay. Cheapest was £83.00 incl. postage.
@@austin12ascot There are also many other kinds of grinders, usually less expensive than the price you quoted. My favorite is a Dremel hand-held multitask tool (think of an electric toothbrush). It has hundreds of little interchangeable heads for grinding, cutting, polishing, engraving - I could go on and on naming them all. There is even a cordless version.
yep, I love my dremel 5000, gets in all the knooks and crannies.
It’s so lovely to see the great relationship between you both. 😀
Thats why I love watching you 2 ladies. :) reminds me of me and my late mom.
Absolutely wonderful to view mother and daughter crafting so amicably and joyfully together. ❤
What a amazing job you two ladies did. Thank you so much for keeping me sane for the past year as I love watching you two have fun together.🌹
Those heads are truly amazing,
It's a little bit like Steve Austin,
The Six Million Dollar Man (we can rebuild him) lol...🤣😁👍🏼
Happy Sunday Ladies✌️😊
You all should make a video of you favorite finds. “A trip down memory lane.” Love all of your content. I appreciate all the hard work y’all do. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻💞🥰😊
Words cannot express how impressed I am!!!!
Hooray! So glad your internet is working today!!! It’s a rare Texas snowy day and I’m all cosy on my couch!!!💕❄️💕❄️Happy Valentine’s Day!
I'm in Texas, too. (near Fort Worth) It has been coming down all day.
Wow! I’m in Southlake! Where are you?
La Grange, Texas is warm and snug. I love the Northern Mudlarks.
@Janie Conley LaGrange! Awesome!!! Is it cold there today? We are definitely below freezing here!
@@nancyholm2995, very cold, but we have heat and water. Son and his family in Katy have been w/o heat since 2 am.
You never know how things will turn out when trying new things, but experimenting is half the fun especially when you get rewarding results! Clever girls, yet again! 💗💗
It’s so nice that you two work together. Great job on the reproductions!!
How fantastic Gail and Alex, so you should be proud. I just spent four hours perfecting one polymer clay necklace (argh!) and relaxed by watching your amazing video (from the other side of the world!) only to see that NINE gormless, un-pleasable, people gave this a thumbs DOWN! WTAF?...how redic, ignore them, you are both brilliant! x :)
Aw, thank you! Lol xx
Great job! They're all so adorable and they shine so pretty...☺...Happy Valentine's day 💕
It's always green with the Northern Mudlarkers!
The oldest porcelain dolls were made by first forming flat pieces of clay like a sheet or square. While still moist they would be pressed into the mold. The pieces of the mold would be brought together and the clay pressed together at the seams. Later dolls were made by pouring slip into the mold which was already joined together. First they would fill up the mold, then pour out the excess slip. Thus the greenware and the final head would be hollow. I used to made reproduction porcelain dolls until the specialty craft shop I used closed. Porcelain dolls are generally not glazed, just painted and fired again but at a lower temperature. China dolls are glazed. We relied on a company called Seeley's for books and supplies. You have brought back happy memories for me, thank you. ♡
Hiya, just wanted to tell you both how much joy it brings me watching you two look for treasures. I watch video after video soaking it up, just as excited as you get. I'm in Australia, I'm 60yr old and have always loved searching for little treasures. I recently worked at the local tip. I LOVED IT, the things people threw out after their grandparents died or another elderly person. It would break my heart sometimes to see years of someone's needle work, sewing bits and bobs, painting brushes, vintage fabrics, so much costume jewellery and anything in between. My poor little car would be bursting at the seams each night when I knocked off. I've saved and restored most of it. Unfortunately I'm running low on materials because I've been quite ill and had to stop working. Yr videos inspire me to get out and start searching for goodies. THANKYOU LOVELY LADIES 😊✌💕
Oh! I 💘 love them. There my favorite craft, good job Girls
oh wow so great job
With each new video you are surpassing your last. Your talents are expanding into leaving your audience spellbound
I like Gregory the best, you have given him a modern look and what a Lovely face.
I'm so happy I can watch your video before I go to bed. xx
Those were Absolutely Awesome! You Guys are So Talented!! I Love your Videos !! Happy Valentine's Day to you and your Family.💖💖💖
One of my favorites! Sooo glad they let us watch! A lot of work, hours and hours.
Potter here. Great job! Please be sure to wear a respirator when dealing with clay dust, or better yet, clean up your greenware outdoors while wearing a mask. Also, no need to blend air into your slip (although that worked pretty well). Just put little chunks of clay into a cardboard box or something to dry completely, then put it in a jar or small bucket and pour water over it. The clay will naturally break down into slip. If you still have some clumps that need broken up, just use an immersion blender or even a paint stick. The wetter your slip, the more it will shrink. If it’s too thin, let it settle some and pour some water off the top. You can keep slip like this in a jar pretty much indefinitely, just giving it a stir before using. I’m so glad you’re making more videos of your arts and crafts. They’re so fun to watch!
Amazing results! It's hard to believe from looking at them, that you've never painted faces before. Absolutely lovely!
Wow, the glaze makes such a difference! Well done. Also, Barbie's hand in the clay was hilarious, thanks for the laugh.
All the faces are stunning. Love your artistic talents. Who knew the love of the forgotten and lost doll faces/parts would be remembered and cherished by you two...?
Fabulous, yet again ladies. You just keep on getting better with each new task/skill you set yourselves. From lost and discarded little bits and pieces to splendid works of art to fill our hearts with joy. Resurrection complete. How about some friends for Barbie?? Much love to you as always. ❤️❤️
Amazing video 👌👌🇧🇩
Fantastic crafting again ladies, i love your channel.
🇨🇦 The red head and the devil are my favorites I think. Well done. Cleaning and painting such small items takes more patience and time than anyone realizes. Yet another beautiful and we'll put together video. You truly make them a work of art. Thank you. Happy Valentine's Day by the way. ❤️
The chap with the helmet could possibly be a fireman rather than a soldier. They used to have helmets like that.
Yes, my mum had a pair of them. They were a pale blue and not a shiny glaze.
👍so pretty little faces 👍👍👍
Absolutely wonderful work... 👌👍 They would make amazing fridge magnets! Keep it up... superb crafting 😊
Clever, clever ladies! You both have such vision and patience! Stunning! I am all admiration!
What a fascinating, memorizing hauntingly beautiful story as each transformation comes to life. That was amazingly beautiful. The music is the language of each doll's story coming to light. BEAUTIFUL Beautiful Beautiful
You have to send 2 of those plates to Kit N. Caboos, for Bitzies house Lol, I learn something wonderful every time I watch y'all
Hi from Arbroath Scotland 🏴
Oh wow! They are amazing! The glaze just makes them so perfect! Even the imperfect ones! I love the way the two of you not only try new things but above all you try them *together* - watching you working side by side is so lovely. Your creativity and artistic endeavours never cease to delight and inspire. Hope we get to see more heads etc one day! I love the little plates, they are adorable. You could end up with a tea service!
Es realmente hermoso ...las adoro desde Chile 🇨🇱🥰🦋💕
That's just amazing, ladies! Happy Valentines Day!
When I used to paint porcelain doll heads, I had a one hair brush. What you guys did with a regular brush was amazing
I use a whisker from my cat. He loses them all the time. I CA them to a wooden dowel. Really fine single tip you can cut shorter to thicken.
@@robbybobby6483 i may try that. I find them once in awhile too. Stiff, pointy. Durable. Great idea. I would buy a stiff brush, boar maybe, or larger and pull the hairs one at a time. I use hempstats to secure with a dab of hot glue. Used to use rubber cement, and tweezers with a rubber band. Lol. Progress!
Did you guys save all the dust from the cleanup of the pieces? Not sure if you're aware, but you can dump that right back into water and make more slip out of it if it hasn't been fired. :)
was thinking that exact same thing when l saw all that...
Id like to give your mom a compliment. She made a beautiful daughter.
OMG. I could feel Alex's excitement over my phone! Happy Valentine's Day Ladies! 🥰❤
Fabulous work 👏👏
I love all the different personalities you've given these doll heads! 💖💙💖💙💕
Absolutely stunning. I was amazed at the final result not to mention very excited when they came out of the kiln. You girls are so talented.
I know this is an older video, but I just want to say how lucky you are to have each other with similar hobbies. How wonderful!!
You ladies are so talented my goodness! Thank you for entertaining us with this very interesting topic
So glad to see another video! It is SO Cold in Tennessee, everything is coated in ICE! But the beautiful scenery in your video! Spring will return ... thank you for sharing your talent and corner of the world! :-) HAPPY VALENTINE DAY TO YOU BOTH
I think that bird head it a ptarmigan. Great job. Glad to see You and Alex are making lots of new friends. Very heartwarming. Happy Valentines Day!
Wow! Who knew that shrunken heads could be so lovely? You both are so talented!
Love all your wonderful crafts. You are inspiring for sure. To create is good for the soul.
Impressionnant, j'ai adoré, merci
