Loving Origin products! I was using the Darkglass Alpha Omega Photon and Harmonic Booster, but I replaced the HB with the DCX Bass and recently added a 64 Black Panel. My current rig is DCX Bass > DG AOP > Bass Rig 64 Black Panel. I thought my tone was already at the optimum level until I compared it with stacked OE products. I never knew it still lacked clarity without my bass rig and the DCX Bass. I can't play without Origin Effects anymore. If you can, please create content stacking two of the legendary pedals, Darkglass with Origin Effects. That would be a killer rig!
I only play direct these days. I have 2 dcx’s!! Run them into a warm audio di. Fantastic sound that I believe does not need amp or cab simulation to get bass and warmth. Even in OD mode does not need cab sim. Having 2, I can have clean and od. Or I can have one set to play with a pick. Very happy with them. Btw cali 76 in front of them.
Hi, I use it as an always on like you on EQ mode with a little bit of drive just to stay at edge of the break up. I have EQ flat rolling just the bass off or boosting it depending on the bass guitar I'm playing ;)
Thanks for the review. It's a very interesting pedal. Occasionally, I go 'amp-less'. Could you tell me what IEM's you use as I'm trying to find a warm, deep sounding set-up. For now, I can't quite seem to let go of monitor amp because of the loss of the bottom end when using IEM's only. Any opinions, gratefully received.
Thanks! Well, the EQ points respond differently than on my Bassrig super vintage. That one is supposed to sound like an SVT. The DCX is Origin’s take on a Universal Audio 610 EQ. The bassrigs are “amp recreations” in a pedal format. They also have an XLR out. I like the DCX for overall toneshaping/saturation without coloring the tone of the instrument too much. Even though drive/distortion compresses the signal naturally, it does not work like having a dedicated compressor. You can adjust much more settings with a compressor/limiter
I still use the cali 76 in front, it adds to the sound by bringing out the highs better with sustain. But since getting this, I don’t personally use the bass rig for direct sound. I did keep the bass rig, because it transforms my Mesa amp into an SVT! Super cool- wish I still played in situations where I need an amp. Haha
I’m surprised to hear that this replaced your Bassrig for direct. I love the Bassrig SV into the effects return on my Tone Hammer 700 for live- much nicer tone and feel than the TH preamp!
@@carlton1390 I was surprised too. But playing in a big room with a massive PA, this is just easier to get stellar tone. Sound guy digs it, don’t have to worry about harsh highs or woofy lows. Cheers
You could use the dcx to kick the super vintage intro overdrive/distortion or to dial in a different tone (slap for example) for certain sections of a song or for different songs within a set
The tone reminds me of the SansAmp drive and cab sims with less presence. This is a higher-quality pedal than the SansAmp because you can hear the clarity, but it's a better option. For a touring board, the Origin Effects DCX makes much more sense because the Noble is gigantic, and touring with a pedal that big is only feasible if it is rack-mounted. While I prefer the overall sound of the Noble, it isn't a practical pedal for touring. Great video! The only negative thing was that I wanted more live video highlights!!!!
Hi there!! I love ur bass ... is it a dingwall?? I 've never owned one I see u played traditional parts with it ... i thought fanned stuff was mainly for tech metal progressive cold sounds n aggressive ...
Yes. That’s my Dingwall Super P :) You might want to watch this video if you have the impression that Dingwalls are just for metal: Dingwall NG3 - Real World Test ruclips.net/video/wuGG2M3RVR4/видео.html

Sounds like a great setup!!
@@IvanBassist indeed, finally found an analog solution for my DG AOP. Looking forward for more OE contents. more power to you and your channel.
This pedal is basically my entire rig. Love!
🙏🏽🙌🏽 awesome little pedal
Your band seems to be having a ton of success. Congrats!
Thank you! 🙏🏽

Awesome setup! Which warm audio DI are you using? :)
@@IvanBassist the active one. Very happy with it
try to put a neve RNDI at the end, it adds some more magic to the bass tone :)
The rndi is great!

Love to use it like that!
Excellent demo ! Thank you
Thanks for watching!
Love this pedal! Always on baby
💯
Thanks for this Ivan! Would you ever make any QC captures of the DCX? :)
Yes. I have made some. The sound is close, but the dynamic response and top-end character is different, why is why I haven’t shared them.

I use custom in ears by Vision Ears at the moment. For the system, I use a Sennheiser G4
Lovely pedal! Y tocar en Doctor Krapula debe de ser muy divertido!
Si 😁🙌🏽
Hey it sounds great; how does it sit with the shaping functions on the Tone Hammer head?
It works great!
I love it as well, hope they make a di-version of it sometime.
Sameeee
maestro gracias por tus consejos.
Gracias por el apoyo!
I love this pedal. I use it like you do… hovering on the Edge of breakup.
It just adds some sparkle to the tone 🔥🔥
@@IvanBassist 💯
Superb demo as always Ivan! A couple of questions- What makes the DCX a better option than the Bassrig, and could this replace a compressor?

is it really necessary if you already run a origin super vintage and cali 76? does this bring enough to the table to justify the purchase?

Can you use this combined with tech 21 bass driver pre amp?
Yes
What model is it ?
