  • The Spello Infiorata is a flower festival held very year in Spello to celebrate the Corpus Domini feast. Spello is a small town located in Italy's Umbria region. The date is always the ninth Sunday after Easter. The festival in Spello dates back over 400 years to 1602. The town decorates its streets in carpets of flowers. The villagers band together in small groups, typically by neighborhood within the town, and work through the night using flower pedals to create works of art. The color pallete for the works of art is created entirely by using flower pedals picked from the fields around the town. The art includes religious images as well as worldly scenes, such as the moon, stars, animals, and people.
