My gsd LOVES a human 🤗 hug. I made the mistake of giving him a hug one morning after opening his crate now he will not leave his room without a human hug. Frankly some days it's kind of annoying when I'm in a hurry....
I have a question regarding medication (oral or for ears or eyes). How do you handle it when the dog (or cat) requires medication and you don't have time for any desensitization or counter-conditioning. For example, one of our dogs got a small scratch on her cornea and needed eye drops. The drops needed to be started right away with no time to take a week to get her used to them. How do you take the time to desensitize and counter-conditioning when medication needs to be started immediately?

Nice! Also update on my future dog: I still haven't a breeder which thinks getting an adult dog is a good idea, they disagree it, so I really dont know what to do btw we will be ready for him/her in 2-3 months

I didn't find the 2 most important things I wanted to know: 1) Do you rub with the hair? Or against the hair? Rubbing against the hair can be stimulating, but it can hurt on a bristle haired dog. 2) When rubbing the belly, do you rub chest to tummy, or tummy to chest? Or both; alternate up then down?
If your pup flinches when you're petting them, it's likely that they find what you're doing uncomfortable. When you're rubbing their belly, you can always try rubbing in circles if you're unsure of the direction!
What if you neglect desensitizing the dog to being touched while eating and a situation where a young child gets to the dog while its eating and gets bitten?

I can’t tell you how much of a problem I have when I am walking my dog because she does not want listen to me and wants to Chase Cats that’s a very big problem
Wow i never knew! Always felt like under the chin is very private area for a dog and unless you're very familiar with him you should go for top of the head. But i guess i was very wrong!
People pet their dog while they’re eating??!!! I’ve had fed, but if I’m not I leave him be. I tell people constantly my dog is tolerating that hug he doesn’t like it. I also think most assume they like their head pet. Another tolerating thing I believe

Exactly! Puppies don't need affection in the same way humans do...
