I DEFINITELY want videos from your road trip with Kate! You guys are so funny together - you just have a natural chemistry that is a joy to watch. I think you should include the "road" part of it, including the rest stops, the car banter, etc. I also selfishly want to see how you enjoy La Rochelle because it's "my" region.
I think that even if you guys end up feeling wistfully/regretfully nostalgic for France, it's important to realize that the same thing would happen in the reverse direction, because like you said, you'll be on *vacation*! (Well, partly.) Of course it will be magical. No matter where you are, you'll miss the other place after awhile and view it with rose-colored glasses (no pun intended). Oui in France talks a lot about this, and so if you want to make a video about this perspective I think you should collaborate with her!
Your joy was just overflowing in this video. I got excited for you! 😍

If you're going to be near Lyon, an amazing day trip is the medieval village Pérouges! You can get there by train from Lyon very quickly or take a short drive. It is totally fortified like Carcassonne and it was voted the cutest village in France! It's a hidden gem for sure and so adorable. Make sure to try the local specialty "la galette de Pérouges" which is delicious!
Enjoy your trip to France and if you need more recommendations for Lyon I'd be happy to be your tour guide! Or if you would like to meet for a coffee in Lyon I'd love that! I'm an American expat in Lyon and your channel inspired me to move to France. I've been a big fan for quite a few years now :)

How exciting! I’m so jealous! When you and Kate do your road trip along the Côte d’Azur, I would totally recommend a visit to Éze-Village, you can get there by bus from Nice, and connect to another bus from there to Monaco, but it is where all the perfumeries are, and I especially love Fragonard, I believe you can tour their ‘factory’ and you used to be able to blend your own fragrance.

See if you can access an airport lounge in SYD. You may be able to pay for a day pass. Totally worth it if you have that long layover.
For the south of France, don't forget to stop by Antibes and Eze.

Bonnes vacances.

    • @melissalyons6936
      @melissalyons6936 2 года назад

I totally agree- St Paul de Vence is a MUST SEE! You can have lunch in a quaint restaurant aon the balcony overlooking the gorgeous valley. And if you have time there is a Fragonard perfumery close by instead of having to go all the way to Grasse for their main location.

    • @christianc9894
      @christianc9894 2 года назад

The perfumery of which you speak is a simple shop without interest except to buy perfume that one finds everywhere in the world, in Grasse there are the historical factories which can be visited. After you have the factory shop. Grasse has a fairly large old town like Nice, Antibes, Cannes.

Wow, that sounds like such an amazing program, so exciting!!! I'm the same, I love the summer in France, it can get quite hot in the south but I just love that relaxed vibe of everyone being on holidays! L'ile de Ré is absolutely beautiful, I used to spend holidays there with my family when I was younger :) This year I'm actually gonna spend a week in Avignon in August, I would love to see you there!! If you've never been there, I can recommend visiting the "palais idéal du facteur cheval", it's a sort of palace built by one man, a postman, to honour his daughter, it has a beautiful story and is pretty spectacular and different! It's about two hours north of Avignon! Now can't wait to follow your new adventures in France!!

While we were in Marseille last June 2021 we took a 2-hour boat tour of the Calanques. It was so gorgeous to go all along the coast looking at the huge cliffs and clear blue ocean. The guide showed us tons of cool places along the coastline and told us lots of interesting facts and history of the area. We even anchored in a more shallow area and got to get out and snorkel and enjoy the cool clear waters for at least 30 minutes. It wasn’t cheap but it really wasn’t outrageously expensive either. If you take a shared tour that has a max of only 8 people you can have just as nice of a time as a private tour at fraction of the cost. We got lucky because although we booked a group tour we had 6 in our party already, plus because covid was still pretty active we were the only ones, so it ended up being private anyway. Whatever you do, I know you and Niles will have a blast!

As for the places to go to, I recommend these :
    - Annecy if you've never been (or want to go again), it is so beautiful, especially in summer
    - La vallée des merveilles. It is above Nice in the mountains (about an hour drive I think) and is really amazing to hike, such gorgeous landscapes
    - St Jean Cap Ferrat is a city close to Nice and it is super cute, you have great beaches and spots to take the sun at. I'd recommend Paloma Beach and the Sentier du littoral that follows the sea
    - La Rochelle is a really cute city as well and it isn't far from l'Ile de Ré
    - Lavender fields in Valensole
The list could go on and on honestly, whishing you the best time and can't wait to see your videos 😃

Oh yay! Rosie you look so happy talking about this trip, I can feel it in the video. 😂
Looking forward to meeting in real life in Marseille as Im planning my trip too.
The south is my favourite region in France and I remember doing the Cote D’azur road trip, it is heaven on earth 😌
From Marseilles, I have loved les Calanques de Cassis, Grasse, St.Tropez and Menton just before the italian border. Im sure you will stop in Nice and Monaco as well
On the other side of Marseille, there is Camargue, Saintes-Maries-de-la-Mer, for a complete change of scenery. You can do horse riding - dans les champs de Camargue, cheveux au vent 😜
If you like Carcasonne, more in lands from Avignon above Toulouse, you can also check out Sarlat-la-Caneda, Rocamadour for some chèvre ( the cheese of course) and nice château
    Bon Voyage!

11:01 This will never cross my mind, ever. The Indian heat wave, the hottest summers on record, even Sydney in spring or autumn is too hot for me.
Auckland's winter is perfect for me, even the cold snaps aren't that bad for the past 3 years. I'd happily catch a cold like I did last 2 weeks than being stuck in heatwaves for 4 months or more.

Oh my gosh I'm so excited for you!!!!! And I'm so excited you're making videos in France again!! Those used to be my favorite.
    Okay
    Ideas:
Vlogs: just us where you're going and what you're doing. A little goes a long way. Any French content is interesting content.
Obviously your usual genius comparisons :)
    Collab with Kate!!!!!!
Have you ever collabed with Jay Swanson? He's pretty cool.
    Have a WONDERFUL time!!!!

If you want to go to Carcassonne, you should organize a trip to the Pyrénées. Another landscapes you can find in the Alps. And of course, Castelnaudary for the famous Cassoulet. And to the end, Toulouse, the beautiful "Pink City" , of course

EDIT: I wrote this comment before I got to the part where you said you're going to l'Île de Ré ! 😄😄 Welcome to "my" region! You're gonna love it.
La Rochelle! Not so close to where you'll be staying in Provence, but worth the trip. Gorgeous old port city, plus there's l'Île de Ré and l'Île d'Oléron close by. (But I'm biased - my partner is from Niort, ~40 miles away, and we just bought an apartment there and are moving in July.)
P.S. Love the purple hair on you! It made me wonder if you'll have it when you are in France, and if you will go back to feeling like the foreigner who stands out with all your loud accessorizing. 😄

Hi, so I am from La Rochelle, and I although you have to drive through La Rochelle to go to île de Ré some people just don't stop there, and I would suggest you do:) It's a really pretty historic town where I think you should at least spend a few hours in the centre or even better a whole day (eating seafood for dinner in a nice cobblestone street by the harbour!) ! As for île de Ré, so many nice places and beaches (all of which will probably be overcrowded lol), BUT to me, the nicest part is the north of the island (Les portes en Ré/phare des baleines sorta area), and there's two really nice beaches in this area called Trousse-Chemise and La Patache (w/ bar on the beach!!) where you should go if you can! Really do hope you enjoy your trip xxx

Why not a little passing in Nantes ? :)
It's not very far of the Ocean (Pornic / Le croisic / Guérande / etc.).
And we have a big elephant :D (During summer, there is a green line in the city : "le voyage à Nantes" with some artistic stuff in all the city)
By the way, nice trip ! :D

I'd love it if you would give some pointers on great places to stay in/around Paris for families! I know it's you and your husband traveling, but just a mention for good places to stay that are a little less pricey and/or can accommodate more than 2-4 people/room would be awesome! Thanks! Love your channel!
