Thanks for telling my story. It really means a lot. I feel like the scorpion and the king in my heart have combined as one.
Wow man. I remember seeing you at the cool kids table getting stabbed with forks! I was in the losers club so yeah didn't actually get to see you or talk to you muchbut yeh ur cool.
We 👏 love 👏 Joel 👏 Haver
You will always be the king of my scorpion heart
well now I'm questioning everything. Did Joel actually die a month ago before resurrection, or was it Digi Joel doing the real work?
This is the best collab I’ve seen in a while 😂
"They say CGI is ruining movies, but maybe it's the way we're making movies that's ruining CGI."
Wise beyond his polygons.
"Wise beyond his polygons"
You've officially won the internet today, sir
He's not just got a normal map, he's got a spec-tacular map
I actually paused the video right then. That got reaaal deep.
I was just at that point in video when i read your comment like it synchronized perfectly.
This explains how Joel survived the landmine incident.
We don't talk about the landmine incident.
but it doesnt explain why he says Hotdog like that.
He didn't survive, he died and was resurrected
@@brandonconnellan1533 Maybe the resurrection was also a stunt.
or maybe they brought a digital stunt double of the real stunt double Joel who’s still RIP 😢
It genuinely is a shame that stunt performers don't have a category at the Oscars. I genuinely appreciate their stories in this channel, and the channel for having them. I hope they get industry recognition someday soon.
If they are relatives to someone rich in hollywood, if they have business together, etc., they can get something, thats how it works. And yes there is no such thing as being "fair" in real life. Pitifully.
As nice as it would be to reward stunt actors' accomplishments, there is a pretty sound reasoning behind it. Having an award for stunt performances encourages one-upmanship on stunts that are already highly dangerous without the incentive of award. Having a stunt Oscar could POTENTIALLY further push directors and stunt coordinators to further lax safety standards for "The Shot", and potentially get more stunt actors killed. Not to say I 100% agree it would be as bad as theorized, I can't justifiably argue with the reasoning.
@@trilliongold They could judge said stunt category based on safety too. If it was done safely but looks stunning and dangerous, it should get the award.
@@trilliongold doesn't have to be a competition of who does the most outrageous. A huge part of it is clearly keeping people safe, the choreography, working with the camera crew to get the shots that sell it. Doing something unique, and well executed, doesn't mean it's more dangerous, actually the opposite.
At the very least make a category for the stunt choreographers.
Okay but, despite this being comedy
The saying "Maybe CGI isn't ruining movies, maybe the way movies are filmed is ruining CGI" is actually so true tho
Fr
And the lack of recognition for stunts is also really true
Joel always improvises these nuggets of truth in his comedy.
Wow yeah....
And if you think about it, the fact that he is purposefully such a low quality "digi-double" pushes the point even further that you can empathize with anything. I mean yeah its a comedy video but at the end of the day the character comes off as relatable, and the video is good. So maybe CGI really doesn't need to be perfect, just executed well.
And CGI artists definitely need more thanks, movies these days especially rely on them for upwards of 10% of the entire movie after all.
Joel’s ability to construct an absurd situation and still pull some really genuine emotions is unbelievable.
I think the most important thing is his flat almost apathetic demeanor and deliver. its that whole beaten down by the system apathy, like depression psychosis where he's just so worn down he has no emotion left to convey. It just conveys a very real sadness
Also report bots^^^
this is one of the funniest things I’ve ever seen him in, and that’s saying something (just, like, my opinion tho)
I love living in the timeline where Joel Haver is making it in the world and cross-collabing with my other faves because that man is just a delight and deserves all the good things. This also made me die laughing but that was just a nice cherry on top. Loved this.
I really shouldn't be surprised to see Joel literally everywhere, but I always am. This timeline rocks🥲
Dude's even in High on Life. He's just skyrocketing and I'm here for it.
There is no such thing as too much Joel Haver and it feels like for once the world actually agrees with me!
@@jared- are you insane? This is the darkest timeline.
@@Orphioux Let this one light shine brightly, and laugh as the shadows flee.
This does such a good job at being disarmingly funny then hitting with a random piece of harsh reality, like how stunt men don’t have any Oscar recognition despite putting in so much work.
Welcome to a Joel Haver 'comedy' video.
I almost found it more shocking that the stund guys weren't invited to the premiere (if that's true, it might've been a joke)
@@MaximilliansHammer it's bland and uninteresting
@@dungeonmaster6292 then why're you here, commenting on a comment to a video you found bland and uninteresting?

#oscarsforstunts
We need to bootcut the Oscars for slapping comedians & robbing stuntmen out of much needed recognition.
That hug though 😂
@@UnofficialCyane Joel feels that hug...for real
I heard they don’t have awards for stunts because that could be dangerous. Everyone one upping each other every year for clout. If that’s true, that sucks, but it makes sense for the safety of that industry
It's a bloody, sweaty, pool of amazing.
It's literally impossible to not like Joel. He's only been recently resurrected after dying from a Soviet era mine and he's doing collabs with the kings of youtube SFX.
VFX. I think the king of SFX is Robert Dudzic
He's in the new "High on Life" game and I was so excited to hear his voice.
Living it up insaneo style
@@JaredBruner Is he actually?
@@richardpike8748 yeah he does some in game commercials and TV show type stuff a la Multiversal Cable
A collab between Corridor and Joel Haver is just the perfect thing to watch while having some snacks.
No
Be careful. Had a Nature Valley bar while watching the video with my son, wasn't paying enough attention, now I can't find him under the crumbs. Hang in there, Charles! Daddy's coming to get you!
I’m happily eating snacks and watching this. It is perfect ❤
It’s the perfect vibe to start my holiday off right.
OH FUCK, NOT YOU
That part of Gui not being invited to the premiere.. man.. that actually got real there. If that is indeed what happened it really sucks and it does feel very unfair.
Yeah that was a real bummer. Between that and the academy not rewarding stunt performers, they’re getting shafted. These are people who put their bodies on the line to make the “talent” look good, they deserve recognition.
Hearing that ruined my evening for real
@@TheIndependentLiberal No; in academia, listing contributors as co-authors and citing all the references for background information and methodology is extremely important. The leader of a larger research group or laboratory often is the *last* author. A lower-ranking team member who did most of the work for a particular project comes first.
Nice to see massive stars like Joel Haver working with small creators like Corridor it's so great to see very humble
I can see that u r the man of culture as well
my guy Corridor Digital has collectively like 12 Million Subs i wouldn't call that small
@@yularen7567nothing gets past this guy
Ikr this has got to be one of the most insaneo style collabs out there
@@yularen7567 Hey, we found the "Fun At Parties" guy!
I gotta say, stroke of genius getting Joel Haver. The guy who made "Lanky Kong listens to DK Rap for the first time" is absolutely perfect for a video about a janky motion-tracked animated man who's left disillusioned and degraded by the Hollywood machine.
the part where they go to hug and they just clip around each other is so funny, and I love that you picked gui to go over the top of CGI joel instead of just pasting CGI joel over gui which would have been the easy way, you actually rotoscoped gui out to do that
whitescreen
this is the most creative story you guys have made in a very long time
It's that Joel Haver magic
I knew he can do it. Even in 3d he's still scuffed. Love it
I know they could have had Gui's hand not phase through Joel at the hug (9:58) but its so much funnier that it does. haha
Thanks for all the hard work and great stuff you all do!
You guys should make this thing with cameramen. Especially in anime, like how when goku and jiren were fighting, the cameraman is also there in the middle of it.
Damn that's a really great idea actually.
I don't think CC is anime turf
@@romank90 Doesn't have to be animé really... It could just be general cartoons or CGI (like in the League of Legends show Arcane)... Just a thought. :)
Yoooooo 🤯
@@sketchur just insane camera man angles in general. CGI or real.
Corridor is truly making it in the world, collabing with the legendary Joel Haver must be an honor
This is one of the best written things Corridor Crew has ever done.
This was a perfect collab for Joel and Corridor! I bet a lot of this was Joel just riffing, so if you haven't checked him out yet, definitely do
@@annikan42 You get Joel in front of a camera and you can have a two hour movie that is just pure awesome.
@@annikan42 I will!
Reminds me of nigahiga if he got really into VFX
It's written by Joel, no doubt.
That... that last part feels like a real experience Gui went through
Why is no one talking about how the stunt doubles can sometimes be left out and unappreciated....?
@@funfacts2823 ive been talking abt dis for years
That's the entire message of this video. I can also see it as a commentary on the negligence of CGI teams in film making.
“They say say cgi is ruining movies, but maybe the way we make movies is ruining cgi” that hit different bro 😔
Gui and Joel are fantastic actors, really made me get emotional for their struggle
It's awesome seeing our boy Joel on this channel!
This is an awesome sketch, but also an amazing critique on the undercut that the CGI artists in Hollywood end up with. Thanks for putting this out there Corridor! And of course, Joel is a legend for collaborating.
I like how it just ends on "I'll outlive you all, I literally do not die, suck it" like okay idk if you took the right message out of this exchange Joel, ye darn psycho
Damn, the white studio part... started off as a joke, ended up as a really emotional story. That just shows, how story always wins. Beatuful editing and story direction - congrats!
As always we need more Gui! Feige make it right! Gui needs a speaking role. He gotta at least be some kind of X-man.
Yes! Gui is an absolute gem. So talented.
Bishop maybe?
I cant believe we dont give the digi doubles more recognition. It breaks my heart what they go through.
This is genius, bringing awareness to digital animators and stunt doubles, love Joel and corridor and will continue to as long as they make content!
Although it's an entirely fictional character created just for comic purposes I felt I could see where all of that came from. Like it is something with roots in a deep appreciation for all the guys involved in producing shorts/movies out there, just like doubles and especial effects. Always a wholesome guy. Loved the colab.
5:05 "When I got my normals smoothed" Laughed so hard! 😂
This is definitely in my top 3 all time Corridor projects. The tone, editing, narrative, etc. are just pure perfection. Great job!
Man, I didn't see this collab coming in a thousand years, caught me with my pants down, but this is unironically the greatest collaboration you'll see on RUclips. Two legends. Best guest, best host, and completely funny. I don't know why but I feel like this was Sam's idea LOL
Hey the digi doubles did amazing in Polar Express. They broke the ground for digi doubles in the digi years to come
You guys NEED to do more together, perfect collab
This is really heartfelt.
I'm getting emotional.
God this is so good! Joel will be on SNL someday and he deserves it all. An all around GREAT guy. I love everything he does, an absolute treasure.
He would change SNL forever if he was on it
Joel, your sense of humor is the real uncanny valley. So poignant and slap-sticky at the same time. I hope that, in 1000 years, you are still around, just doing your thing.
Wow. This was heartwarming as hell.
Good shit Corridor
Brilliant. Pulled laughs out my soul i didn't know i was holding back. A lovely message lives in this work to remember all of the TEAMS of INDIVIDUALS working hard together. COLLABORATION is the beauty of our society. Thank you, everyone.
This was actually amazing, love seeing Joel collab with every channel on the platform lol
As we get closer to the holidays, it's important we remember all the good things in our lives, and the people who make those good things come true. It's digi-doubles like Joel and Barry who make our dreams come true. If you find yourself looking out the window into the cgi-rain that's being shot onto a green screen, light a candle for all the doubles. They deserve it.
Make sure the flame is comped in though, don't want to risk the set.
As to be expected with anything involving Joel, this is one of the most original ideas I've ever seen executed on RUclips. Well done. Loved this. Glad digital stunt doubles are getting their recognition!
This vid went from a regular sketch to a full documentary I was genuinely invested in
You gotta love Joel's room mate! She has such intersting character! I love the interaction Joel and she had. She really seem to be a really cool person. I want to hang out with her sometime.
The writing for this is absolutely beautiful.
All though intentional on this video, Corridor are the only ones that can truly get away with leaving in the jank, the hug near the end killed me 😂
The is the strangest, most interesting thing I've seen in a long time. Absurdist and ridiculous, but also touchy and hopeful. Great work
@corridor I'm going to assume this is a scam
Joel Haver is such a great guy and I love his work so much!
This is genuinely one of my favorite videos.
I was getting pretty emotional during the interview... Joel felt to me in that like an avatar for every CGI artist who's suffered under the weight of the Disney crunch of late.
Then the laugh... our guy Joel is a genius... nobody does the closing twist like Joel!
One of my favorite shorts you guys have ever done! Setting aside the technicalities - this is one of the most genuine and grounded stories you guys have told. And then the concept, execution, and tech on this are next level. Also, having Gui play himself was genius. Really, really good stuff!!
Corridor and Joel making something only the two of them could make, great stuff. Thanks to all the people who put in hard work so we can smile!
This has got to be one of my favourite vids of the year.
I have never seen Joel look so alive and real before.
This was really beautiful. Not only is Joel funny and incredibly talented, but you can just tell he's a good person. Someone who would do anything to help a person in need, just because it's the right thing to do. Through all the jokes and silliness, I always feel that that shines through in Joel's videos, and that's why they always make me smile.
This is pure GENIUS
What a concept, what an idea
never sees to disappoint Corridor 🥰
I'm not ashamed to admit that I cried a little during that interview.
This is gold. Probably my favorite Corridor video ever
Had I found your videos when I was a kid, id 100% would have went down the vfx path. Absolutely amazing production as always.
I teared up. That's freaking ludicrous. Good job, guys.
This started off so goofy and then Gui talked to the digi with such genuine heart! Made me a little misty eyed actually.
Today has been a series of amazing events! Joel Haver, and Corridor is just the icing on top
That ending interview was great, got me in my feels.
A collab I did not expect but I enjoyed the shit out of none the less! Thank you for that :)
Never in my life did I think I’d see my 2 favorite RUclips channels make a video together. This is amazing❤️
Glad to see this collaboration. Keep working hard everyone. Your content is inspiring. Have a stupendous day everyone! Thanks for the vid.
I think this is the most emotional and touchy film came out of the studio so far.
I love Joel and this was the perfect part for him. That was really really good.
This was an incredible short film. It had its ups and downs. It made me feel an emotional connection to Joel, the Digital Double. Amazing work!!!!!
I only watch two channels pretty religiously, and it's Joels and Corridor Crew, so this is awesome to see them collab. Also, I suppose this what actually happened when Joel stepped on that Soviet-issued WWII era landmine.
The crossover I think we all needed but never knew we wanted! Loved this so much, great work from both teams! ❤❤❤
"What does he get, a truck, what do I get cropped out" wow that's pretty funny. 6:43
The effed up geometry in the apartment was so beautiful in that context.
Man i love joel
So glad he’s growing ❤
Joel Haver deserves all the success in the world. Brilliant collab.
I dunno what kind of deal Joel got out of this, but Corridor could never repay him enough for his talent.
I mean they clearly taught him how to use AI for his Ice Guys Origins video a couple weeks ago.
this is a great video. tells a story whilst being funny and self-aware without taking itself too seriously. the comments on cgi and lack of 'official' recognition of stunt actors is well-integrated but still makes its' point. moments like the clipping through during the hug are brilliant as a hilarious contrast to the 'deep' documentary style of the video.
amazing work!
As a former professional SAG Background Actor (Extra) for many seasons, this is hilarious and true on so many touching levels. Thanks, Viva CC!
I’m glad that Corridor is giving Digi’s the recognition they deserve
Man, Joel's writing is always hilarious and it really makes you think.
Great guy. Great video.
When Gui and Joel hugged, it had me spinning in my chair laughing. 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏 Great Video!!!!
BRAVO! What an great performance by Joel!
Good move collaborating with this amazing artist, Corridor, and thank you.
This is actually insane! More with Joel, please 😁
The genius behind all the collaborations Joel clearly aims to create will drive all creators forward. March on Joel 😎
Omg, I have totally not expected that collab
Thank you joel, and corridor crew for making the best crossover video on youtube!
The whole apartment is scanned in? For a CG version of Joel that’s played by Joel in a mocap suit?
Freaking love Corridor, wicked stuff
Two of my favorite channels doing a collaboration, priceless!
Was cool seeing Gui acknowledge that he was replaced with a CGI double as Black Panther cos in previous videos he always talked like it was him on screen
I knew there was eventually going to be a Corridor/Joel Haver collaboration, but I didn't expect it to be this awesome.
This was a really fun story.
Joel, Corridor Crew, thank you for this.
I was touched by the depth map of Joel's performance. Very 3 dimensional and layered, and I'm just talking about the rendering.
That ghosting from the hands at 1:47 screams Unreal
3:18 I absolutely lost it when he delivered that line. I bet everyone else on set did as well.
Love the going to the store reference. One my all time favourite animations.
1st Joel is a fucking badass, 2nd Corridor is badass, 3rd this is brilliant. The concept to the execution, bravo, brav the fuck oh.
This was a fantastic piece, loved it so much
