Well. This is old news for most people but since I already have Astra and integrating with with Learndash, I am probably going to stick with it. That said , is it better to go with Astra Pro or Elementor Pro? I do want to customize my header a little more for my Ecommerce learning site. Just wondering what gives me better flexibility to add "highlighted" nav menu buttons instead of just the highlighted "text" from the free version? Thanks! Now that astra has integration with WP-Toolkit (since last week), are you planning on reviewing this combo? And is this something that would compete with the Beaver Builder + Themer combo? That is... can you achieve the same things by combining elementor+astra+toolkit?
Embarrassed to say this, but I find the learning curve on WP toolkit to be so steep. I personally prefer a different stack of tools to accomplish pretty much the same thing.

No I am not recommending one over the other. They are both great. I personally have been using Astra for the last 4 months, and am releasing some tutorial videos on it.

I am learning Beaver Builder and Astra Pro. I noticed the page headers and some other items have overlapping capabilities in each, like sticky headers or transparency. Is there a best practice here on setting up a page header, for instance, or is it just personal preference as to which to use?

I assume you're referring to implementing a transparent header? There was an option there in the first tab of the settings when you're setting it up, that is no page title. I think that is going to be the option that you want.
Yes, I am referring ot the transparent header. In the first tab there is just an option to set the title color. I did set it to transparent so it is not invisible, but it still show in the code as an H1 and it is selectable by dragging the mouse over the header. They should absolutely have an option to disable the title.

Great overview, Adam. As a long time Generate Press & Elementor Pro user, I am considering making the switch to Astra but will probably wait to see what the extra header features are that you mentioned were in development.
You mentioned at the beginning of the video that you were going to be talking about schema, however you didn't mention it at all later in the video. I'm very interested to hear how Astra handles header & menu schema. Also, does the schema remain when using an Elementor menu in the header via a widget. How about when you build a header completely with the page builder... is schema an issue then or can it be added?

Opps, sorry for not getting to that. Yes many of the header improvements are already made. All the proper schema is in the header and in the navigations elements.

This is an amazing video!! There are so many little features and idiosyncrasies about various themes that you just can't know pre-purchase. I've ran into many issues with various themes that revolve around some of the finer points of this video. Thanks for going in depth here. It helps me make my decision easier about which theme is right for me! It looks like Astra is really awesome. Headers can be a pain in the you know what. With the combo of Astra and Elementor, I think it will be amazing. One question. Does Astra have somewhere where you can design a global theme button look? I loved that about my old theme, Impreza. It has a global button for places where buttons come into play outside of the influence of page builders. (like that html button you made in the header widget, or like pagination/read more buttons in the bottom of blog rolls, etc.)
Well, you are in luck because there is a global styling option in the customizer for buttons. It's hard to post an image here in YT but if you ask this question on my forum, I can post images there. Hello Adam, I've just watched this nice full tutorial about headers with Astra. Thanks. Maybe I've missed something but I thought in the beginning of the video you said you were also going to talk about schema. But I didn't hear about schema. So, I wonder, will there be a difference in schema markup when the header/navigation is build with the theme or with Elementor? Will it therefore be better to build the navigation/header with the theme?

Hey Adam, near the end of the video you show how to use an Elementor created nav menu on the Astra header through a widget. I want to do this to take advantage of the styles in Elementor, but whenever I do it and go on mobile view, the Astra Hamburger Toggles Appears and when you click it it opens and displays the Elementor Nav Menu Toggle, any ideas how to get around it?
That's strange! I'll have to check that out on my own.
Sure you've figured this out now, but just as a reference for anyone else with this issue. In the header layout section of the customizer, where you disable the menu, check the option "Take custom menu item outside". This takes the menu out of the astra menu container, allowing it to show on mobile while hiding the astra mobile hamburger.

So when you go to do something in the theme, click on a little play button, you get me telling you how to use it in a popup, but all short and to the point.

Yes did I say that it was an image at some point in the video? I knew it was a background gradient which is a new feature that they added to ultimate add-ons for Beaver Builder. I am also using their gradient feature on some of the pages of my website.

The more I watch your stuff, as I prep to completely rebuild my main site, I'm considering making all the core pages using Elementor Pro and just using Thrive Architect for my (main-menu-less) Landing Page Product Funnels and the other Thrive marketing plugins. I love the tight integration with Astra, rapid growth and extensibility of Elementor. But I'd also love to keep using Thrive Leads, Ultimatum, Quiz Builder and Apprentice. Do you see any potential problems with this 'mixing' approach?
I am in the same boat as you Dylan. You will not have any problems with that stack of tools and I am using pretty much the same thing on my website. The goal is to use the right tools so that in 12 or 24 months you don't have to redo your entire website with new tools. This way you can make changes with the same tools and always have a current website.

Hello, I have watched a few of your info and enjoyed them and very informative. I did a website for business. I did the free plugin free ssl. I never saved my password. Within a week my site was hacked and ruined and all my work is gone. So how can you do a site when can get ruined and hacked within 7 days. How can you ever do online business and credit card business when you can get hacked. So how can i repair my work or do I have to do it all over again? It isnt worth doing this every week. I cant get into cpanel or wordpress. I am also wondering if it is a bad choice when using hostgator? I wonder if my bank account will get hacked using my credit card to buy the site? That is done in Elementor the page builder. So it's most likely in the section settings for the very top container.

Yes it is a feature only found in the Pro version of Elementor. Next year they are really positioning Elementor to be used as a tool to create an entire website, not just the content area.
Astra sites don't work with Brizy from last few days.....even if you see Astra sites plugin content than they mention Elementor but removed Brizy ?

How will this work if i'm adding two headers with different menus (for those who are logged in and those who are logged out)?
I've started using Astra Pro + Elementor Pro for my custom builds recently. I'm finding it really tricky to get a solid workflow happening. It's almost too difficult to know whether I should be using Astra or elementor for each section. i.e headers, footers etc.

Right now you want them from your theme. Elementor Pro headers don't have schema for the time being.
I'm having issues with Astra having transparent headers/pull tabs even though transparent headers are turned off (meaning they should be solid). The problem is that the text in the pull tab isn't legible due to blending with the background.

Yes I do, I really like it. Nothing better has really come along which is surprising.
In my experience, I have yet to find a situation in which the site logo in the header isn't best presented as svg, which therefore negates the need for 2x, 4x, whatever size images. I've typically done this in WP by simply *not* setting a logo image in the Appearance >> Customizer, and then instead writing the logo svg in as a base64 background-image declaration on the site logo element.
What has your experience been with implementing svg using elementor, beaver builder / themer, and astra?
I can't imagine being a modern web-dev without using svg. The lines are so crisp and clean, at all times, and all devices.

If you use the head & footer builder in Elementor then when your lesson loads for distraction free learning the header menu still appears. How do you hide it? Isnt it suppose to hide automatically?

Yes the paid version of Astra doesn't need header footer Elementor. Also it does have a transparent feature of course. It's just not in the free version.
Hi Adam. I switched from tesseract to astra, used the switch to astra plugin and got the full width pages back however my menu is missing. In the customizer it looks like it should be there, but its not. Any thoughts on what I may need to do. Been following your tutorial on switching to astra.
Whenever you switch themes you have to reassign your menus and widgets. Appearance > Menu and you should see it there and you can assign it.
Okay I had a look and I guess I am not sure what you mean by reassign. It looks fine to me. Not exactly sure what I am supposed to change it to.
When I go there, it shows the menu, it is checked off as primary menu even in the location tab it looks right. When I am in the customizer, the menu is there, it is checked off as primary menu. If you want to check it out.... www.prairiefairydesigns.com
Okay, also, I still have the same beaver builder issue. When I opened the editor it used to give me full width modules. Those are gone now, there is nothing in templates and I can't get any full width pages. I don't know what is going on.
Sorry for spamming you with comments. I have figured out the menu is only not showing on the home page. Also, even with the switch (I was using beaver builder lite with the tesseract theme) the beaver builder editor no longer gives me full page modules any more. That feature is gone for me. I also can't get full width in elementor either IF i am just pulling modules over and building a page from scratch. It always adds a bit of a border on the edges. The only way I can get full page features is by adding a template to the page, thankfully there are some free ones. Basically the beaver builder lite is useless to me now. So frustrating. Thanks for trying to me help Adam although I am not sure there is a solution now.
The free Astra Theme Customizer doesn't seem to have all the features as shown in your video e.g Typgraphy only has Base, Content, Blog/Archive & Single Page/Post options. So I can't see how you can change the size of your menu text font via the customizer, which is annoying
You will need to buy the pro version of Astra Pro to have all the functions seen in the video.
Yes as I demonstrated and explained in the video, a lot of the tutorial is based upon the Pro version of Astra which has all those additional options. Sorry if I didn't make that more clear.

I'm trying to set up a footer on the astra theme using Beaver Builder but I'm really struggling. The Astra site has it set up under Custom Layouts but it's not letting me change certain elements. Should I be using Beaver Themer instead to set up my footer? Also, do you have a video tutorial that shows how to set up a footer?
That's odd Russ. You should be able to do the same thing in Astra or Beaver Themer.

If you get a second can you post that in the Astra Facebook group. Also I'm curious if you have any caching solutions on your website that might be causing this behavior. As soon as you change that color setting it should reflect when you're in preview mode and when you save it.
I asked the makers of Astra about it and they said it shouldn't be hapenning. I'm just in the process of giving them a temporary login so that they can go in to have a closer look.

I always suggest that if on a tight budget, get Elementor Pro and Astra Free. If things change in the future you can always add Astra Pro. Astra free also has a transparent header.

Hello. I think the new Astra hamburger menu for mobile is defective cause I seem not to be able to change it to desktop version. Whether i am using desktop or mobile it still gives me mobile. You can do the HTML verification file ( via FTP upload) or use Astra Pro and in the advanced hooks you can place the coding in the area and hook it into the header.
Yes if you have the Pro version of Astro he would put it in the wp_head hook area and if you are using the free version you can add a plug-in called Astra hooks and do the same thing in the customizer.
How come when I follow every step in this video, when it comes to "Customizing Site Identity" .. I first of all don't see the default "Astra" logo/text as shown in the video. My navigation buttons and logo are already showing (since the step before when Adam adds the logo the first time in Elementor), and when I add my "normal" and my "retina logo" I can't resize my logo. It's not responding and I can't follow along from there on....(!)

GeneratePress is certainly a fantastic theme and by me making these videos is in no way taking away from GeneratePress. I do feel at this point that there are more available advanced options and ease of use features built into Astra.
Adam I appreciate all your videos, their all so great! I am redesigning two sites; one a service type, the other will be sculptural metal and jewelry woo commerce site (hopefully launching in Dec/Jan. I prefer a fixed navigation (sticky header) transparent or semi opaque header, as mentioned in this review, but sticky. I like the fact that the menu scrolls with each page and can be clicked to go to a quick category page then to a detail page.
I was originally looking at Generate Press and Elementor, but I do like Astra too. I am not sure which one is a better fit. I think I also need a child theme. Adam you went over that. I think you mentioned the Child Theme Configuration plug in is best to create a child theme. I was hoping to just get comfortable with a good procedure practice on the service site. Tom from Generate press does not recommend the child theme off the bat, but I feel like this might be a mistake. I saw a link off GP site for child theme should I just use the suggested plug in with Astros or GP? I am assuming it is similar to the video on Astra. I don't want to find out I have to start my sites all over again because I can't customize and save my theme properly. Can anyone including Adam please chime in and let me know why Astra or why GP? And which might fit my needs best and why? I realize Astros woo commerce customization is coming soon.
I like having control over the site and ultimately may build the whole thing anyway with Elementor Pro; as this is similar to what I used on three previous sites I built. So I too need a core theme; and should I just start out w/child theme?
so i picked the makeup artist one first let me say its super annoying that all these theme makers hide you have to wait forever for a response to a ticket and there is no phone number to speak to an actual person which makes me even more hesitant to ever buy anything because if it glitches and doesnt work i wont be able to contact anyone and thats going to piss me off
heres my issue i picked that theme from the start i had issues getting my logo on each page prior to picking this them in my dashboard i was instructed by a different video to go to settings then general the site title and put something there and on the tagline well it does not look write with this theme so i went there and deleted it but its still showing on the website and even i clearly deleted it and the space is blank its still showing
im kinda sick of watching these tutorials investing hrs of my time and having to be stuck half of you guys once you get to a certain amount of subscribers do not scroll the comments to help those who may need it which i thought was kinda the point of making the video
Now that my rant is done... if you can help me pls do so otherwise ive wasted my time AGAIN and will just delete what will be my 5th freakin theme i tried to use to get my website up and running
All things need the Elementor pro then why purchase Astra pro.😡😡
Well look at the dates here. This video came out before Elementor Pro made headers and footers. Before Elementor Pro had a theme builder.
