Literally the Same way as many of the members did, Either by trying to rob him and becoming Allie's, or was taken in off the streets like Arthur and John.
From what I remember reading, Micah grew up with an outlaw father and an absent or dead mother (same as with Arthur and John before meeting Dutch) but unlike them he ran with his father well into his late 20s before venturing off on his own. I believe he met the Van Der Linde gang about 6 months to a year before the story, I think shortly after Charles. I think Lenny joined about a year before that in 1897 when he was only 16-17 as he was 19 in the story of RD2. However he was raised by outlaws he was raised by his father who taught him reading/writing and went on the run at 15 after killing the men who lynched his father for reasons I can’t remember, something to do with his former slave master.

At the beginning of journey he had a noble cause but he started to slip after blackwater he thrived in the chaos and when the gang was on its last leg struggling to keep people together he got irrational sloppy and started to show people how he truly was granted with an adequate amount of Micah manipulating dutch BUT with dutches own ideals

No one says that it's the sole reason he became so unhinged, the theory is that after the trolly crash his mental deterioration accelerated. Bill was shaped by the time and the war he fought in. He always showed respect for his fellow gang members unless he was drunk or he wasn't given respet back. Bill had self esteem problems and yet acted as the punching bag for the gang. And his father lost his mind (most likely Alzheimers, not drinking) and gravely feared the same fate.

There's actually a theory Bill is a homosexual. Regardless of opinion, the wild west was gayer than history makes it out to be😂 remember the line from hosea? "That wouldn't work out, Arthur and Martha, Bill and Phil," and before the first barfight one of the gang members asks "is he about to punch that guy or kiss him?" Homosexuality was considered deviancy in the army too, there's more info in the letter by where he sleeps in camp
