4 year or older BMW's need the valve cover gasket changed. They leak right onto the alternator and the harness. Tore it apart and the front drivers side corner of the valve cover was pouring a lot of oil out right onto the aforementioned parts that are hot enough to start a fire.

You wonder how a car like this could erupt in flames so fast and so completely from one end to the other. It must have been a gasoline fuel pump failure, or the car's gas tank was somehow ruptured and the spilled gasoline set the whole car on fire. If it was simply parked there and the fire started on its own, you wonder how that could happen. So, the question is - was this car set on fire deliberately by its owner or somebody walking past it - or did the fire start by itself? It was so badly burned by the time the fire squad showed up to be able to figure out who or what started it.
