What you experienced was machine learning and the power of shared interests or “the algorithm”. If you give apps access to your location, microphone, camera, keyboard and phone log just ONE time they will track you FOREVER. If you frequent a place you will be shown ads that is unique to that environment and unique to anyone you are near or encounter in that environment. It’s possible that gentleman may have just recently purchased those shoes and the fact that they are gym shoes and you frequent the gym (there’s that shared interest) it was suggested to you as well. I’m sure you’ve said aloud or texted or posted about royal blue being your favorite color. You also stated that you went on a gym shoe buying frenzy at one point, that suggests that you have a propensity to purchase things unique to your shared interests. Overall it’s your machine(cellphone) learning. It’s learning you, your environment, people who are in close proximity to your environment.
People are truly unaware of the tracking that is done via their cell phone. This cell phone learning is rea. Not necessarily a bad thing, but be aware.

They’re listening to and tracking everyone like crazy and keeping and selling all the info they discover about you. It would be fine except for the fact that eventually they will be using all this information they know against you. Trust that. As a frag lover we all need a good frag free lotion or lotion that a slight smell that dissipates soon after you use it and doesn’t compete with your fragrance. Mine is Nivea enriched. Helps my frags stick without fighting with them. ❤
