Cnoc VectoX can handle boiling water. It is one reason that I am considering buying another one, as I just have a Vecto regular model. I have thought that it would be nice to have in winter, but i guess that might be too much water to heat

Have been using the Sawyer Squeeze filter for over 8 years. Love it. Two additional points. First, everyone needs to know that the filter should not be exposed to below freezing weather because the residual water in the filter will freeze and it will no longer work. Second, Sawyer contributes 90% of their profits to clean water projects around the world. And they recently made a huge donation of filters and other products to people impacted by Hurricane Helene.

@@Rando-user-zm1fxI requested testing documentation from all competing filters companies. Some are shockingly suspect. Unregulated laboratories and using incorrect testing protocols. @@Rando-user-zm1fxsomehow my reply got deleted. I researched all the major filter makers testing documentation. Sawyer and Katadyn were the only ones I feel confident do thorough testing under the correct protocols. @@johnnyolson258 I, & others, have come to realize the FireSteel brand of ferro rod does, in fact, product "more & hotter sparks" than other brands because their Ferrro Rod includes a higher percentage of Rare Earths, which is WHAT create the sparks. Plus the handle on the striker & Ferro rod are large enough to be used with Gloved hands. The FireSteel brand of Ferro Rod actually fits inside the striker's handle which means your Ferro Rod & Striker are always together. Yes, it takes time to fluff the hemp string - I cut 10) strings then separate/fluff the fibers & insert the fluff mass inside a 3" x 3" ziplok baggie to keep it dry. The bright ORANGE colored handles of the striker & Ferro Rod are easy to find if you set one or the other on the ground.
