The reason is that AI HL course "has finance-related topics like using the financial solver to calculate annuity and amortization, and there's also statistics + statistical testing, hypothesis testing, interest-related calculations, some application of matrices, and calculus (AA covers calculus as well)", according to my friend Sunny. it might be too late for me to tell you, but from what ive heard, ai sl/hl is the best preparation for economics but some schools prefer/require aa sl or aa hl just to be safe, you may wnt to do some research
