Bravo, Story! I'm really proud of you. Not all foreigner little girl is as flexible and as smart as you. You easily adopt things in your environment. Definitely, you will have a historic journal to remember as you grow mature. You are a good product of a very good example and an ideal parent. God bless you, lovely family. Stay safe and healthy!
You both are such good and thoughtful parents, not spoiling her with material things, but teaching her what is really important, that's quality rather than quantity. Story is a joy to watch how she's blossoming everyday. Learning how to process coconut milk in the Filipino tradition is awesome! Another beautiful day in tropical paradise island!!🙌🏝🧜♀️🤸♀️🏊♂️🐕🌴🥥🥛🌏🏝🛺🌊
When i was a child, that is one of my task and i feel i was suffering. Now i appreciate it cause it is already an skill. I miss those moments where i used to scrape that coconut.
Hello guy's. I'm impressed at J's first attempt in tackling matured coconut. Just be careful handling the "bolo" (machete) by the way. Don't throw the coconut water, you can also drink that. Best way to extract the first coconut milk is add about 2cups of water to 1whole grated coconut then knead it like a dough to get most of the milk for about a minute or so before squeezing hard using both hands. Set aside the pulp. Then use a sieve or cheese cloth to get the remaining bits. Repeat for 2nd time but add only a cup of water. For the pulp, put it in a tray & let it dry under the sun, blend it then you have a coconut flour. Enjoy & Take care always. X
No... squeeze out the pure coconut milk without water first. That's what you call cacang gata. After squeezing that out, that's when you add water and squeeze it out some more.
Coconut milk you can make it into an oil. Just boil it with slow fire until the oil comes out.. and it is already an organic coconut oil. An it can use for cooking.. for the hair to make it shiny.. in the body skin like body lotion.. nice job guy's 😍❤
hi J, Sach and Story. What you hear goggling when the coconut is shaked and gushes when you break it open is the coconut water. The coconut milk is what you extract from the grated/shaved coconut meat. The round, sweet, watery thing inside the coconut is it's germination, because brown coconuts are the right age for it to start to grow. We call it in the visayan dialect as "buwa" . We were so thrilled to find them when we were young, they're tasty ^_^
Nawww seeing Juno show you the coconut milk method is exactly how we do it in Samoa! We use the coconut milk to pour over cooked green bananas, pour in cooked rice as a coconut rice, pineapple drink which we call vai fala (pronounced vey far-lar) or put in banana leaves mixed with onions & then cooked called luau (pronounced as loo-owl). However it’s definitely done the way the Filipino way brought down from generation to generation. Also, Story sang that frozen song beautifully.
I appreciate this family's eagerness to learn and embrace local life. Way to go guys! That is, indeed, a step in becoming a Filipino. Btw, that small coconut flesh is called sprouted coconut, just not sure how they call it locally.
In grating coconut... you must start outside going inward in circular pattern... the secret is to grate it evenly, it should not be finishing one area; then another... you can use a clean cloth to extract more coconut milk.
Video greetings from other kids is an excellent idea......especially she has no siblings, home-schooled and only a few neighbouring kids to play with. As J said, this provides context of where she is on the scheme of things.
I'm happy to see you Jay doing the Filipino way of preparing coconut milk from opening that dry husk to cutting the shell then scraping in the traditional way, that's what we do almost daily when I grew up in my province and we cook almost every day using coconut milk to cook vegetables and fish. Great to see you thriving to learn the local way of living. It's very interesting to see you embracing and appreciating our tradition. As always Story is always funny and entertain us all the time. Stay safe guys and enjoy your the Filipino way 😂😂😂🙏🙏🙏🙏
My grandma used to cook "sticky rice" and she made use of fresh coconut milk, pretty much what you did here. She also made coconut oil but i can't remember how she did it. We used that home made coconut to massage a painful body part, or apply it to a baby's head to make the hair grow. She also cooked some of the grated coconut flesh mixed with molasses, much like what they put inside a "pandecoco bread". Those were some of my memories with my grandmother. Thanks for the vlog
Victoria de Manila That is what my grandma did to make coconut oil. The oil separates after boiling for a while, floats to the top and leaves a residue that looked like custard which we used to cook fish. Delicious
Story's singing was the highlight! We love you so much, Story! ♥️♥️♥️♥️ Good job with the coconut, J! It does require confidence and conviction to get to the flesh but I am pretty sure you will get the hang of it! 😊
Yes, J, you’re becoming Filipinos now. Processing coconut milk from scratch, the old-fashioned way from opening with machete to grating with a sit-on “kudkuran” There’s nothing better than freshly made coconut milk🥛🥥. Is there anything Story can’t do? She can carry a tune alright.👏👍 Another sweet video. Thanks, folks! 👌🙏🏼❤️
Hello world, J, Sacha and cute little Story 🥰. Story is so cute cheering daddy in cutting the coconut! Haha. Enjoy your weekend guys! 😘 Happy to see you again.
You an also freeze the coconut cream. Filipinos usually express the cream twice. The first round will be your full cream using very minimal water. On the second round, you water it down a little bit more and this will be your 2nd diluted batch. When used in cooking with vegetables, you use the 2nd batch first and when your close to getting your veggies done, then you add in the creamier batch to get a thick and flavorful outcome.
Hello beautiful family 💟. You can cook a sweet meryenda called "ginatan" out of that fresh coconut milk. My way of cooking it is not the conventional way like my Nanay used to do...but try it with your chia seeds. Boil at least 2 cups of coconut milk and a cup of water then add sugar to your liking for sweetness. When boiling, add cubed cuts of sweet potatoes, banana (saba), fresh kernel corn and about 2-3 tbsp of chia seeds. Let it boil until sweet potatoes and bananas are cooked. (Optional: you can mix half a cup of fresh coconut milk when you turn off the stove to have a fresh taste of it). Hope you like it 😉
I was wondering when you guys would try getting your own Coconut milk, good show. You might want to try cooking it with some veggies too. Garlic, onions, pumpkin, string beans, malunggay leaves in Coconut milk, delicious.
When you are cooking, save the first squeeze. Do a 2nd squeeze and that is what you use for initial boiling. The 1st squeeze will be poured before you take it from the fire so it is still creamy.
J and Sacha, when is Story's birthday? I know it's November, I just don't know what day. You're such great examples of parents. So in sync with your values, beliefs and teachings to Story. Most of all, very humble! I can't wait to see Story's reaction. Love her so much and the rest of the Philippines.
The favorite part of the kids waiting to cut open the coconut os the embrayo called boha..kids are patienly waiting for father to give that thing its so sweet
We live in California but That’s the way my mom used to make coconut milk when I was a kid, my dad made her the same kind of coconut scraper. It’s a lot of work but it was worth waiting the desserts for 🤗 I’ve also seen on other videos that they actually sell fresh shredded coconut, they shred it for you at the market on purchase.
Hi Im a vegan too and just a tips to have a nice coconut milk, save the coconut water after you open it up and just sift it to clean it up then, massage the grated coconut with that coconut water so you dont need to put a bland tap water in it. Massage a little longer so the coconut milk will really going to come out to its food vacuole in its cells. Then sift it up and enjoy.
You can drink that coconut water too. The desiccated coconut can use to make other things like sweets or macaroons etc. They use that for pandecoco bread filling too.
Hello 8 Miles From Home.🤗 Watching this vid reminded me of how my Mom applied coconut milk on my hair when I was still a kid and would leave it there for hours. It really made my hair shiny, thick and black.😊

what you did, Jay, is very Filipino way of life, specially in the provinces. Good job!

I think the coconut water is too sour at that stage of the coconut, the green ones are the best for buko juice.

When you cut the coconut the water still can drink.

I think you just keep on boiling the coconut milk till it is reduced to oil.
Just boil the coconut milk in a pan until it become a coconut oil. But you need a lot of coconut milk,5 or more, to make a bottle of coconut oil.
