    Hey Alan , my mate and I have been there a couple of times recently and found the set-up pretty good especially the lower part of the jetty . However we found that the last time we were there that the ramp had silted up and was extremely shallow . We think this has been caused by the new breakwall not letting the sand and silt being washed past as has happened in the past . They may have to dredge the area regularly .
    cheers Trippy

      Thanks Trippy, Yeah I have noticed that too. At the end of the vid I spent a minute saying to launch at high tide and that if you have a bigger size boat to maybe launch at Werribee or St Helens instead, also had a pic of it in low tide taken recently. Cheers

    I have been there in the Yak on the weekend when it was really busy and it was a nightmare. There was nowhere near enough parking, cars were parked on the side of the road for km's. Launching the Yak with the boats was hard, boaties were backing down the ramp when I was trying to bring the Yak up. To the side of the ramp it is basically a rubbish dump and is quite disgusting. Unless you get a long way down from the boat ramp you will be swamped by boats doing 400 knots as close as they can to you. If I ever go back there it won't be on a weekend.

    • @fishingmad
      @fishingmad  10 месяцев назад +1

      Yeah it can be crazy there on weekend, either gotta get there at first light or fish it during the week which is what I do. There's very limited space there, but I agree some tidy up and access for yaks to the side of the ramp slightly away from the boats would have been a good idea.

    • @knjohd
      @knjohd 10 месяцев назад

      @@fishingmad They really just need to construct a path for beach access to the side of the boat ramp for the kayaks. I would happily use and keep out of the way of the boats.

    • @officialWWM
      @officialWWM 10 месяцев назад

      Sounds like a missed opportunity. When designing the ramp, they should have installed a narrow ramp on the protected side just for kayaks. They have done this at several popular boat ramps in Tassie and it been great. I don’t fish from a kayak anymore, I have a boat now but I know other who appreciate it!

    Hey Alan awesome video! Been watching you for a little while now. Safe to say you are the reason I have wanted a kayak for ages! Would you consider making a video regarding your kayak and how you've set it up? It looks really nice and if I were to get a kayak I wouldn't even know where to start. Thanks in advance Alan!

      I hope you are very well, thanks for the message I'm really glad the channel has been helpful and inspiring for you !! I have some really detailed walkthrough vids on the kayaks in the FishingMad members area, plus heaps of stuff on mods to your yak, how to buy the right yak, safety for the yak that sort of stuff plus there is heaps of kayak content, workshops, reports, competitions that sort of stuff, I try and keep the channel and TV show purely about the fishing adventures. If you need any more info let me know, happy to help. Regards Al | FishingMad

    They put the rock wall on the wrong side! You gotta watch the tides in a boat with this ramp now

    • @fishingmad
      @fishingmad  10 месяцев назад +1

      Yeah I did say at the end of the vid that you need to plan using the ramp around tides and as ive seen a few boats get beached already there.

    Hey Al, top vid as usual. Can I ask the braid brand and lb you’re using on the emeraldas and the rod please? I have the double handle in for service and need some new braid/rod. Cheers

    • @fishingmad
      @fishingmad  10 месяцев назад

      Thanks !! The Emeraldas rod has 10lb Tasline on it which works fantastic. That emeraldas has a very shallow spool, so You really do need something with a very small diameter and PE rating

      LOL yeah I've had a few shark encounters with the yak. I had one at the same location which I got on footage ruclips.net/video/B_eMbzdTD9I/видео.html I also had a massive one nudge my kayak offshore at Portland a few years back.

  • @Deanosfishing

    Looks great! Would it be a viable landbased option off the rock wall? Or is it very shallow?

    • @fishingmad
      @fishingmad  10 месяцев назад

      I think it would be too shallow there for land based fishing, on high tide maybe, but I recall coming back in at high tide and it still being quite shallow and weedy. Id recommend go to St helens, cunningham or even portarlington instead

    • @fishingmad
      @fishingmad  10 месяцев назад

      Love the renegades, thinking of buying a 460 or 420 myself. The ramp has been quite poor at low tide the volume of weed and silt is really bad at the moment. Id highly recommend trying to launch and come in around high or mid tide, otherwise launching at werribee, or st helens if around low tide
