Defo. Steve Howe's intro's and endings are the best. It's also what made bands like Asia so great, especially from their first album. Although Wetton and Downes were credited with writing their hits, it was Steve who pushed these tunes to become hits. His magic was quintessential for their success.
David Maloney is the type of interviewer I like. He is well informed, asks pertinent questions and nudges when necessary,... but most importantly he gives the interviewee the majority of the air time. Great interview David & Kyle. Bravo!
Hearing that means a great deal to the both of us. THANK YOU!
I love the way he doesn't excessively bend strings. Its pure melody inspiration all the way . No cliches here. No excessive boxy pentatonic or anything. Melody.
I always struggled to understand "A Venture" as a child, now it's one of my favorite Yes songs for the same reason.
the best guitarist ever
Jimmy Page
Steve Howe is a legendary guitarist/instrumentalist, and an inspiration to many musicians thru the years! Thanks for this!
Couldn't agree more!
Yes Steve is the best because he put allot of thought and creativity behind his playing and song writing..it wasn't mindless or wild playing...no..
Steve is a thinking man
and
He worked really hard to develop his skill..
and
he mastered different styles of music so Yes always has musical surprises..
and that is what got the people's interests..
Bravo Steve Howe!!!!
Great interview with an icon of the Prog-Rock genre!
He seems a lot happier when not in the general vicinity of Rick Wakeman doing a comedy routine..
Love me some Steve Howe. He is sharp as a tack here. Could be in his forties.
Hope his thumb heals up soon so they can resume the tour. Most fun I have had all year being in front of the Maestro watching him work, and entertain.
Wish I could listen to ALL Steves guitar riffs sitting in the Yes vaults. Great interview
That Siberian Khatru intro is so incredible!
Nobody's fault but the human race! brilliant
Fantastic timeless interview. A keeper. Lots of good info.😀
Thank you so much! That's what we strive for.
Just same-old hackneyed questions everyone knows the answers to before he's even finished asking!
Cool what Steve said about how well "Drama" has aged. I often say that of all Yes albums, "Drama" has taken the biggest swing on the "got better with age" pendulum.
That was great. Thanks!
Here he's, a thousand millionth part of the human race (as he says) but, it's possible to be bigger. I thing this man should be eternal.
He seems like a very humble Man.
Steve is a testament to England's great dental care.
He's an old man. What do you expect? he's been smoking dope for most of his life.
Why is my idol staying in a SpringHill Suites long-stay efficiency motel?! 😮
It's not about the politicians? That's why Steve's a musician, thankfully.
Been watching YES 1978 in the round and 1980 on RUclips. Steve Howe will ALWAYS be one of my guitar HEROES ! "Awaken" brought me to Jesus Christ. 45 years of YES in my headphones.
How did awaken bring you to jesus? its new age weirdness not christian
@@uv77mc85"Awaken" lyrics were heavily inspired by Christian author Calvin Miller's 'The Singer', which was a Christ allegory. The lyrics are abstract enough to be applied personally by anyone, but they are loaded with Christian themes - revelation, restoration, forgiveness, etc.
We are @ The Gates of Delirium.....5:55
Eddie Offord was an important part of Yes and its sound.
You are so lucky getting to pick his brain for so long. I would love that chance. And as he says, Drama was a great album. The last of the proper great yes albums.
Close to the Edge/Stone Monastery Park.Chance,?
In interview he always seems to underplay Jon's contribution to the band.
Drama? Come on Steve! Tales From Topographic Oceans? Relayer? Going for the One? But Drama? You've got to be kidding!
'Heart of the sunshine'!?
Just like the other greats....North side of the Building, Short Ruabout, and of course Rudiment.
@@michaeljones9301 There had to be some Sunshine in there somewhere, preferably Orange.
@maximusindicusoblivious180 yep....
Love the song.
Still can remember when I first listened.
It does make you think of a nice sunrise 🌅
Howe ...a guitarra 🎸 do Rock Progressivo
Anyone got any theories about what Chris Squires' "All Good People" line actually means.
When I read his book, it really made me dislike Steve Howe. But hearing him speak his answers here has redeemed him in my eyes quite a bit. And sharp as a rack - wow! Still, it’s a shame what he’s done to Jon. I’m sure there’s plenty I don’t know about that story, but it sure seems like Steve abandoned him while he was down.
Steve, juntate con Anderson, Wakeman y Bruford antes de morir. Sería tu mejor legado y a los fans.
Amazing guitarist, will always be a musical hero and I love to hear about the band, the development etc.
What I don't want from any musician whether I agree or not is to be preached to. When it got to the environment and war I shut if off.
Don't alienate the people who support you, stick to the music.
🙂
It's a shame no other members beside Howe are in that band that I can't call Yes anymore
perhaps Geoff Downes, who played on Drama
ARW was a great version of the band. I saw them in 2019, and they played lots of classic songs perfectly well.
Steve needs to come back to earth his band sucks how they call themselves yes is a joke Anderson is Yes😢
I cannot listen to ANYONE ELSE sing Jon's parts.
Obviously he needs Jon but he's old. He won't be making any more masterpieces even if Chris came back from the dead.
Jesus, learn how the world works. People like you destroy artists...
Pro Tip: Before interviewing a world-famous musician, do some research. Learn the actual titles of well-known songs. Or maybe just hone your editing skills.
You expect the Hamas to "learn that war is bad"? That's what they live for man. Wake up?
If I hear "All good people" nowadays it goes off. overexposure. Its a toilet break for me at Yes concerts
Give peace a chance, only a fool would say that.
