Hello - Dave here...Thank you for the kind words. From my perspective, the event was absolutely brilliant and it was a complete pleasure to meet so many cool people there. It reminded me I need to get out more. Anyway, listening to this video, when I play the 8-voice there's some audio oddness on the right channel, which is no doubt some voodoo in the system on the day. So for those that want to hear the beast in its full hi-fi glory, I've posted an (unlisted) vid of me testing the instrument for this event, just before I boxed her up.

"She's gone now!"
ROFL
Thanks, Dave! Appreciate that! 😎🙏🏼
Glad someone so passionate owns this.
I know im asking randomly but does anyone know of a method to log back into an Instagram account..?
I stupidly forgot the password. I appreciate any assistance you can give me!
@Oscar Dallas Instablaster :)
@Duncan Archer Thanks for your reply. I got to the site thru google and I'm waiting for the hacking stuff atm.
Seems to take a while so I will get back to you later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
@Duncan Archer it worked and I finally got access to my account again. Im so happy:D
Thanks so much you saved my ass!
@Oscar Dallas No problem :D
Dave let me play that 8-Voice when I was at his place in the UK earlier this year. It was definitely a religious experience. ❤️
Dave that sounds mind blowing. WoW........
What a great patch!
Am I the only one thinking “how can ANYONE give this video a thumbs down??????” Really??? How?? Why?? On what level??? A great, informative chat, by two of the most likeable guys in the business about one of the most amazing synths.... and someone (actually a couple of people!) have thought... “nah.... not for me... and i feel so strongly about it I’ll SHOW how much I dislike it as well”!!!!!
Maybe it IS just me...
Stunning machine & nicely played by Dave.
I have an OB6 (thanks to the review on Sonicstate) and it's a time hole.
If I had an 8 voice I'd never leave the house.
It's always a pleasure to hear the wonderful Dave Spiers talk about and play analog synths. Surprised it took me this long to find this video!
Dave is awesome, and what lovely sounds, thanks for posting!
What a glorious machine and man
this dude is lots of fun , I like people with humor
WOW what an amazing synthesizer! THAT is huge! A++++++++++++++++++++++++
An amazing machine and Dave is great to listen to about synths. Just saw the OB-E v2 and it's the first time I noticed that this is the synth that made the Matheny / Lyle Mayes super cool lead sound -- like some sort of otherworldly flute. Must have it.
I saw Lyle Mays play one of these live in a tiny room at the University of Arkansas in 1985 during a Pat Metheny tour for Full Circle. Wish I was still there.
What a beautiful synth! Love the real world use and experiences. Thanks for capturing this and sharing.
What an utterly wonderful instrument, owned by a passionate man with a great musical mind - perfect combination.
fantastic what a fantastic sound. Thank you for this. Happy New YeAR!
love Dave's sense of humor
That was great. Love hearing Dave wax on about lovely synthesizers.
That show is a superb idea ! I think music spreads beautiful values, it teaches us to listen to the elders and to respect their knowledge, their experience ! Thanks Sonic State, if you were a real state I would ask if I can become one of your citizens !
glad i have one EVS, amazing machine.
Cam vibration...certainly not lacking in the nether region. :-)
was kinda trippy lol
Very nice video. What a massive sound. And great histories. Thanks.
Amazing sounds from an amazing synth. Thank you Dave. :)
We just need Akai to make an 8 voice Timbrewofl now and we'll ALL be able to get these wonderful sounds at home :)))
Nice one Dave - you killed it.
Such a great day! Let's do it again soon :-)
My favorite synth.
Amazing sound!
Just as a note, in the SEM-Pro manual I have there is a short history of the SEM and Tom says: "Dennis Colin of ARP designed the multimode filter".
Geddy Lee of Rush toured his Oberheim 8-voice, too. (on multiple tours) That's what you did in the 70s. What else was there? :)
looks like it was a great event good job peoples
Wow what synth ! And Dave is awesome and funny per usual .
Glorious.
@5:32 i caught a sound in my ear that reminded me of one of the synths sounds used in Seal's - Crazy". That kind of opening evolving organ sound . Fantastic duo , great instrument , boy tongue is dry from the lust !!!
Adamski A. Crazy is the only good song he has ever had and mainly because of that evolving synth sound crescendo!
@@pcuimac Crazy to me is timeless. Yes that evolving sound makes such a diffence to the impact of the whole track , darknand haunting.
Now there's an x-mas present that would most likely give me a stroke. But it would be a happy death!
Multi-timbrality - you don't see it in modern synths enough...
The Vermona PerFourMer is a wonderful headache
but this...
Oberheim orchestra
OK...now I want one!
Dark Side of Synth it will cost you dearly.....
I want one FOR FREE. Do I get it if I say 'pretty please'?;)
i have the Arturia SEM V plugin Polyphonic with less hassell ha ha
Where is Behringer when you need them ?
They've teased a Two Voice clone! It's not gonna be out any time soon, but I'm hyped already.
Didn’t know Lovejoy was into synths!
😅😅😅 i wish you had'nt said that . I'll never look at Dave in the same way again.
Hahaha...I had to think about that for a tick...I'd forgotten that show (and with good cause!). I have to say, Dave really loves that machine(s). I hope they kept his hard-on out of shot!
Should of said "it was in tune when I bought it"
12dB filter for the win! I don't really like 24 dB because it kills the frequency range to rapidly and resonance overemphasizes the cut. 12dB sounds more like an instrument and not like a chainsaw.
I want a cheap Behringer clone of this! ;)
Louise changed the door locks that night........
