So good, again. You capture the obvious tourist trip combined with sacred rituals of the local people. Above that, yoy respect the local and religious traditions. I am sure the locals will appreciate you for that, So much better than sitting on the beach and get drunk during your entire stay. A bit worrying that the restaurant only serves fastfood, but then again, it is often regarded by the Indonesian people as a rare treat. Your 'exotic' meals are mostly common daily food for local people. As you stated you will probably get enough Indonesian food. And as far as the budget is concerned: Indonesian food on Bali won't break the bank. You always have the 'Buy me a coffee', aka 'Keep Tia out of jail' fund. (She behaves, you both get some food and drinks paid for)😅🤣😁😁 Still a lot to explore and enjoy around Bali. Keep us informed and keep those vids coming. We need your warmth in the cold climates. 🥶🥶🥶🤧🤧🥴👌👌
That is a really interesting perspective about a burger or hotdog being an exotic type of food for many people, similar to how Babi Guling would be for us. We had never thought of it that way, so thank you for the insight 🙂
@@OnePackWanderers A bit of Sunday fun: a little challenge. Find an Indonesian restaurant and ask for Gado Gado, preferably with Lontong. If yoy did: Let us know what it was like. Oh, and Babi Guling is a dish normally reserved for ceremonies and functions. The main staple is rice on Bali. Nasi Putih (white rice) or Nasi Goreng (fried rice) is what people typically eat. The accompanying dishes are normally great. Serving a lot of these side dishes together is called a Rijsttafel (Rice table), a leftover from the Dutch colonial times. Still available in some restaurants in Ubud, but fairly expensive.💓💓❣😹
I’m not sure if you are later visiting the Nusa islands, but if you are and haven’t been before then may I offer the following tips. Make sure to bring plenty of cash as the ATMs (especially on Penida) can be very unreliable. Allow at least three nights to see Nusa Lembongan and Nusa Ceningan.
At least three nights were needed to do Nusa Penida justice with one full day being engaged in exploring the western coast and another for the eastern coast. The views really are better than they appear on Instagram. On the western side about 400 metres to the south of Kelingking Beach is a temple called Pura Palung which has two shrines carved in the shape of cars. If you walk around the exterior wall of the temple there is a great view along the coast to the south and on a headland, the Gunung Cemeng temple. I managed to reach it by road back in December 2016, but the gate was locked and the road was very rough. So a bit of an adventure. On the eastern side make sure to visit Goa Giri Putri temple. After climbing up stairs to a small temple, you have to wiggle through a narrow slit in the rock to enter the main temple, which is in a huge underground cavern. Getting to Atuh Beach, Diamond Beach and Pulau Seribu (Thousand Island Viewpoint)/ Rumah Pohon Treehouse can sometimes catch people out as there are two and possibility a third access road. The northern most one takes one to the left hand side of Atuh beach, which you can scramble down to, via a rough track. To reach Diamond Beach from here you then have to climb up the concrete steps to the top of the headland that separates the two beaches. Avoid this route, as it means a lot more climbing to explore things and then to get back to your motorcycle. Instead make sure to use the southernmost road, (look for signs to Diamond Beach, Pulau Seribu (Thousand Island Viewpoint) or Rumah Pohon Treehouse. As it nears the coast it will swing north with a small sideroad off to the right which will take you to Pulau Seribu (Thousand Island Viewpoint) and Rumah Pohon Treehouse. If you continue on the main road it will reach a carpark on the headland dividing Diamond and Atuh beaches. I understand that there may be a path along the top of the cliff from Diamond Beach to Pilau Seribu, otherwise visit it via the sideroad I mentioned earlier. At Atuh Beach there are restaurants and there used to be one at Pulau Seribu. The third road access I alluded to is one I never saw, but which I believed goes to a small village in the trees behind Atuh Beach. A little bit of background: The Nusas are separated from Bali by the Badung Strait, and on the other side by the Lombok Strait from Lombok. Part of the Indonesian Throughflow 20% of the water that flows from the Pacific to the Indian Ocean passes through here. This Nusas sit right on the Asian side of the Wallace Line. Islands on the Western side such as Bali are lush and tropical and home to Asian animals such as monkeys, tigers and elephants, while Lombok and those islands to the east are somewhat dry and arid where the wildlife evolved from Australian critters, for example birds of paradise, cockatoos and marsupials. This break was identified by British naturalist Alfred Russel Wallace (1823-1913). The treacherously deep waters and strong currents in the Lombok Strait are what prevent fauna from crossing over into either territory. So when crossing either strait by boat make sure it is with a reputable operator.
Thank you SO much for all of this information. Seriously, this is invaluable and it's not the type of thing that Google, or even necessarily a local, would tell us. Thank you. We are currently looking into the possibility of extending our visa, as the 30 days are already running out. The Nusa Islands look incredible, and quite unique from Bali.
Hey guys, this vlog has to be my favorite thus far… I love the scenery/landscape of “everything!” I live in hawaii and right next to the famous “stairway to heaven” so we see the most gorgeous waterfalls going up H3 from Kaneohe side.🤙🤙🌺🌴🌴

Hi Guys! I loved this video. We are headed to Bali in November and plan on going to LekeLeke waterfall. Can you tell me how long the hike in was? It looked pretty easy in the video.
The bad jokes at the end are worth hanging out for! 😂😂 (Says Heather; Bill disagrees, apparently!) The clouds at the very beginning were especially beautiful!
Your opening montages are FANTASTIC. Keep up the great job. 👍👍👏👏 I love Bali that Hinduism, Buddhism and Islam live in harmony together. Such a beautiful and inspiring land.

After being so much on the road now in so many countries that all use metric, how intuitive is it for you by now? I suppose you still do temperature in Fahrenheit, but ofc you have to fill up and do groceries etc in metric... And how big do you think the reverse culture shock in the US will be? xD
Metric is second nature for both of us, except maybe kilometers which Tia still struggles with a bit (but not meters for some reason 😅) The imperial system that's used in the US is kind of silly, and only intuitive when you grow up with it 😬
