Out of nowhere this song popped in my head. Why don't they make music like this anymore. Makes me sad. I want to go back, back when we had actual music.
I heard this come on the speakers in Publix as I was leaving. I stopped right there and just listened with a grin on my face. How can you not just feel good listening to this?
Gavin, my brother. I miss our Facebook chats and most of all our friendship, you’re one of a kind, your music will eventually take me one step closer to you RIP.
My God, I managed to find my song, I've been looking for decades for the song I recorded on cassette tape in 1986. At the time I couldn't find out the name of the song and then it wasn't played on the radio anymore. What a joy, I finally found it !! This sound and this vocal are amazing! Gratitude !! 👉🙃👈
+@fabianosantos7269 I'd forgotten about it until the radio DJ announced Gavin Christopher's passing and went straight into this song. It goes back to that unique 1980s time.

Incredibly underrated and incredibly gifted. Did you know he wrote Chaka Khan’s Once You Get Started…and MANY other songs as well? He really was a musical genius!
This was my older brother. He was one of the most talented people ever. Right along with my younger sister, Shawn Christopher! Thank you for your comment!♡
Didn't Shawn Christopher have a minor Top 40 hit with a song called Don't Stop the Magic (or something similar to that) in early 1992? This one by Gavin could have been released in the 90s without sounding out of date.

I have 2 vivid memories associated with this song. First: the last time I visited the Kings Dominion amusement park in the summer of 1986 (before Paramount purchased it). On the way home, I remember my father looking for a fast food joint in downtown Richmond, VA late that night. Saw a storefront Subway-didn't stop. But was it the same time we saw the old fashioned Arby's giant "gallon hat" neon sign? "One Step Closer" was getting significant airplay then and I think I heard it in the car.

A great 80's feel good jam. Wasn't a big hit but still great. NEVER will be songs like this ever again especially in this day & age. Brings back great memories of the summer of 86. Swimming, cookouts, going to the drive in, roller skating, water balloon battles & just hanging out not causing any trouble.
I was a Senior in High school and was in a Garage band. I played Bass and sung lead Vocals. I got the guys in my band to listen and play our rendition of this. So Bass, Lead/ rhythm guitar, and drums. We played it by ear since it was a pretty straight cords. We never performed it live but I do miss the days of simple 3 or 4 cords. Bass straight forward and drums with rhythm. Love the 80's.
