- Steve finally gets his hands on the brand new 2019 Volvo XC40 for a complete Test Drive and Review. Join in the fun as he takes a close look at this amazing Scandinavian design filled with the latest safety and technology. It just might be the small SUV you've been looking for.
If you fuse Michael Douglas and Jack Nicolson = This guy!!
I'll take that as a compliment! Thanks..:) Steve
I have that exact car, almost a year now and I love it. Amazing in heavy snow and economic enough for a 130 mile almost daily commute.
Ryan Patch hey! Has it been reliable?
@@hr9592 it was a great car! But I decided to go with Tesla. I would highly recommend the XC 40 and go with the R design if you can find it!!
I really love mine. I've had it for about 6 weeks now.
i like this volvo xc40 and great review. you really sound and talk like Micheal Douglas. LOL!
I love this car. I've taken it for 3 test drives and my only concern is having to use the touch screen for the heat and air. I don't want to have to look at a screen to change the temperature. :-(
That's how they make it cheap.
U can use the voice comand for climate control
thanks jm, I've just downloaded the owners manual. Haven't had a chance to look at it but apparently there's a list of voice commands. :-)
Angela A good to know. You’ve got to get used to the commands because there is plenty of it. I am loving my Xc90 inscription. Hope you do too!
I really like the new Volvo SUV's. This is one I would get, it's a bit small but perfect for the city! I'm 24y.o and I would definitely buy this over any current sedan out.
Love your Review. Fun to watch! Gives this channel charm. I subed. Greatings from austria
Greetings right back at ya!!! Glad you enjoy our work..:) Steve
Same here. Love ur sense of humor. 😝
great charismatic review by Steve but camerawork can be improved imo.
What’s the color of the car. Is it the new Thunder Gray color or the 2018’s grey color?
I know they changed that color in 2019.
Osmium
Any thoughts on Volvo's subscription service?
When the electric version will be released?
Last quarter 2019 in UK led to believe
Great video, but wish it was uploaded in higher resolution! (Shows up as 360p for me)
You can see us in 1080p in the settings!!! We're working on the 4K settings..:) Steve
@@srk7555 nice video you seem like that kind of guy you want to hung out and drink some beer with
Let's do it..:) Steve
It is amazing the amount of competitors on this segment. I love volvos, but it is a hefty price for the options the way I would spect it.
I think I rather go a step down on luxury and consider the high end of the Japanese & Korean options; specifically a CRV, CX5, RAV4 or Santa Fe. I know they are more plasticky but you can definitely save some cash and get all the bells and whistles.
Thanks for the review, I really enjoy them.
totally agree with you point but a lot of people paying extra for the brand (image). people who are willingly paying extra just so they can say that they drive Volvo or BMW
Very nice vehicle, but the backseats seem cramped.
I have not seen anyone talk about how tiny the steering wheel is.
Eagerly awaiting 1.5l turbo Hybrid 250 BHP
Yes! Mine will be delivered in a few days, hopefully! (Austria)
@@rome0610 getting mine in Feb how do you like yours?
@@paulc2332 Well, I do like my XC40, to say at least! :-) It's really fun to drive, handling of the car is perfect, in my opinion the R-Design suspension isn't too stiff, as some reviews mentioned. Of course, a 4wd would suit the car, 262 hp on just two wheels are a little bit hefty. Switching between electric and gas power in hybrid mode is very smooth, even the 3-cyl engine isn't as rough as I feared. Driving in electric mode is fun also, especially in stop & go traffic in the city - you just have to gain confidence to let your car breaks for you... ;-)
With today's experience I just would opt for the 360° cameras (here in Austria a EUR 600 / USD 730 option...), the car has a very high window line and while curb parking or similar seeing obstacles is a little bit difficult.
I also would prefer a more powerfull charger, since the 3.7 kW charger (single phase, 230 V x 16 A = ~3700 W) needs about 3 hours for a full charging cycle. This isn't a big concern if you can charge your car in your garage at home, but I don't have this opportunity, so I have to charge while shopping, visiting a customer, etc.
Would I buy it again? Definitly yes! Unless the XC40 pure electric is available... ;-)
@@rome0610 thanks for your feedback, much appreciated 😊 glad you’re enjoying it. I didn’t go for the 360 camera either, couldn’t squeeze it into the budget but will have driver assist which looks impressive.
Volvo is owned by a Chinese company named Geely. Look it up. The great thing with Geely it still allow Volvo to be designed and built in Sweden. They bought Volvo from Ford.
4:19 lol
I like that jacket! What brand is it?
It's made by SCOTTeVEST. It's a great travel coat or just take the sleeves off and it's a vest. A bit pricey but worth it..:) Steve
Steve Kerndt thanks for answering my question! Really love your videos!
And off course no T3 in the US :) Can’t afford a T4 or 5 here in Europe...
He said Q40
Yes!!
Indeed .., plus he didn’t seem to know where to swing his legs to activate the boot
Or to follow the chrome trim to the hood latch.
Rather have a Lexus!
Girls car
Then it is perfect for you.
Henrik Nielsen Girly girly car..my wife has one. Glad she drives it. lol
See you soon behind the wheel of BMW 3 series

Rather have the XC60 for just a bit more. More space, more powerful engine, hud option. And XC40 weighs 4895lbs, XC60 weighs 4105lbs. WTF volvo.
Go for it. We took delivery of a 2019 XC60 plug in hybrid Inscription. 4638lbs due to batteries. Denim Blue and fully loaded. The HUD option and all the driver assist and luxury packages. Have driven it all day with no complaints. The massaging seats and heated steering wheel make cold weather (British Columbia) driving comfortable. Worth every penny.
We took delivery of an XC60 Hybrid Inscription. As loaded as we wanted. Just the greatest
