As an Azerbaijani myself I agree that we send better songs. Just listen 2008, 2009, 2012, 2013, 2019, 2020 and for those who don't hate, we recommend 2011.
People love to hark on Salvador winning because of sympathy, but O’g3ne had a song about their mother who had cancer and later passed away because of it, and they only got 15 points from the televote. On top of that, Yulia Samoylova went in 2018 and she had multiple sympathy factors going for her. Not only was she in a wheelchair due to a serious condition, but she was also denied her chance to participate in 2017 due to a ban from Ukraine. And what do you know, she failed to qualify because nobody liked the song. Sympathy won’t get you far if people don’t even like the song to begin with. Do people really think that Salvador could get a televote score just 2 points shy of the all time record set by Alexander Rybak just because people feel sorry for him???
