- Tying a fly like the Grouse & Green can be a hassle if the feathers are too large. here's a way to deal with that problem and produce a usable north country (Yorkshire) spider.
Material List:
Hook: Size 14 or 16 wet fly style (Mustad 3906B)
Thread: Veevus 10/0 caddis green
Body: Thread with optional dubbing
Hackle: Grouse
Thank you Peter; this was great! And if your head is ugly... live with it! Great advice. Looking forward to tomorrow's video as well. :-)
I know, I've been living with it for almost 70 years ;)
you prolly dont give a shit but does anyone know of a trick to get back into an instagram account..?
I stupidly forgot my account password. I appreciate any assistance you can give me.
@Muhammad Andrew Instablaster =)
wow this advice is gold for me. thank you very much for sharing it!
great info...thanks.
Good tip
would it be too much to ask the title and authors of the books you use?
thank you either way..
I presented that info in the introduction video to this series. It's by Sylvester Nemes "The Soft Hackle Wet Fly and Tiny Soft Hackled Flies"
I tend to avoid presenting the same info in every video in a series to avoid it getting monotonous.
@@hooked4lifeca I do apologize.. I have not seen that offering.. thank you for the information through the lessons.
Peter try tying the hackle in at the mid point of the hook and folding barbs and wrapping thread over them up the shank so they are pointing forward of the eye. Then tie body Then work thread forward of hackle and preen hackle back and take thread wraps over the hackle. They will stand up just they would if conventionally tied in. Cheers! PS. Check out Tightlinevideo on this subject. The video was produced by Orvis’ Tim Flagler
I've already recorded the second video showing that technique and it will be out tomorrow. I wanted to show both methods as they each have advantages and disadvantages.
